- Well, this is a video that I did not want to make. Thank you to everyone who has supported our freestyle wheel line since it began! We will be offering one final wheel design on our upcoming shape.
Thank you to Adam W. for editing!

Just wanna say that both me and Caleb came up with the idea. We both run the Aftermath Collective account and I want to make sure he gets recognition for it too
Aftermath collective!???? That rules! Thank you for mentioning Caleb
@@mike_osterman1there’s a chance we might change the name but we’ll see what happens
Stoked to see what you guys make
The best advertising for the freestyle wheel I heard when Andy pitched his more all-around street wheels with the offset shape. Basically, why aren’t all wheels covering our nuts?! It’s insane, even as a non-freestyler.
I swear the idea for the nano cubics was born when Mike gave Andy a pair of his freestyle wheels
i like wider wheels that at least partially cover/protect the nuts, but i'm not crazy about the offset bc you can't flip them when they cone
Yeah, I rock the nanocubics on a couple of my boards and I adore them. I didn't even know at the time that that design was basically a freestyle wheel.
Step by step, freestyle is growing. Big hug from Spain 😊!
Oh my gosh, I have a set of the "grilled donuts" and an untouched set of the coconut graphic, literally my favorite wheels in this world I use them on my street setup, I will always love Waltz and I'm sure the new wheels are gonna be awesome but I am skating these down to the bearings
Hey @Mike Osterman had so much fun watching the whole US Open
Thank you! Stoked for next year’s event. Lots of changes
@@mike_osterman1 any chance of a digital submission contest???
Looking fwd to seeing the New ❤
Good to see you back.
So good to be back! Might have more soon
Really wanted to get back to skatin this summer but got caught up between work and a project finishing up a basement
Ironically, I've rode around my campus more in the past two weeks than I have all summer lmao
Heck yeah! Glad you’re back, even if you missed the summer 😁
i don't have much experience with freestyle skating, but i do think it's cool and would like to explore it. i've always preferred wider wheels for street skating, especially ones that offer at least some protection to the axle nuts. i have some old powell wheels from the '90s i think they're 46x42mm? not sure, i don't have my calipers handy. the bones x97 v6 shape is pretty nice too, i think they are 56x36mm. they're like a conical shape with a more rounded edge
Wack all that is happening. The US open was a ton of fun man. That new wheel though, it's just blurry enough to spark my interest, I need to test them.
Also QLC 1 and 2 were 👌👌👌
In my work I’ve definitely had suppliers just suddenly stop making a material that we’ve bought from them for decades out of the blue. It stinks
Please reissue the space rooster graphic!
Would you ever consider a formal partnership with Bones to manufacture your freestyle wheels at scale, or are they who you are talking about…..? They seem receptive to the offset shapes and have the production capacity it would seem.
As a Waltz wheel collector I'm crushed...but as a Waltz wheel collector I neeeeeed two sets of that new shape 😮 I'll be ordering a few the moment they drop🔥🤘🏻🔥
We also owe you a great deal too Mike, the work you have put in doesnt go unnoticed.
The US open was one of the most exciting contests I've gotten to watch, but not attend, so far.
Unity will push us all forwards, where we find a void, i hope someone will find a way to fill it, for the sake of all of us.
It really sucks to hear about your struggles with wheels though, is there any chance you can work with some of the existing freestyle wheel producers to keep your product line going?
I loved the donuts, before i learned to like a softer wheel.
Now im stuck on seismics 95a urethane for comfort.
Aside from that, hope we get to skate together again sometime soon man, im gonna bug you about more spacewalk techniques though 😅
Gah! Thank you! We missed you at the open this year. Stoked for whatever’s next in Canada. I’ll keep you posted with our next move, and I’m always down to help with spacewalks
Wow, I guess im lucky to have gotten the jaws wheels then, thanks Waltz
Was just wondering today when you upload again, and voila, here you go 😅. Also, a big ask, but is there a chance you could relocate your European branch from 🇬🇧 to actual EU? The taxes from 🇬🇧 are just ridiculous.
Working on it. The UK distro closed late last year for the same reason. It’s expensive everywhere 😅
@@mike_osterman1 thx for the info, and great to hear, oc sorry for those troubles. Maybe some big shops like Titus in Germany can help? In any way, looking forward to getting Waltz from within the EU. That‘s where the Waltz originated from after all 😚😅
Can't wait to see what you've got cooking!
Out with the old, in with the new! Upcoming 2025 gonna be wild😎🖤
Wooh!
I don't skate freestyle much, but I like when wheels are cube. It's good for grinds on rails and makes skating more stable. That extra shape some wheels have does not pay me well. Others might have different opinion.
could you do another renegade flip tutorial? love the vids man keep it up!
Sure! Are there details that you’re struggling with?
@@mike_osterman1 mainly the flip itself. I don’t struggle with landing on my board in general after these kinds of tricks but the flip is something I’m struggling with. It feels like just throwing it aimlessly
Nice vid
So sick.
NOOOO bro, I really like the deep spaces I'm on now, truly a shame if we never get a reissue on the deep dish.
I have coconut carvers on two decks. Can’t wait to see the new wheels.
I love the carvers! Stoked to hear what you think of the new ones
let's be honest, you are hoping/assuming it was from a dog 😭
Ahaha dude, for real
Dude, that's a terrible way to find out. Screw those people running that manufacturing plant now
Right!? It was a weird exchange. Very much a bummer
I'll be taking care of my donuts then!
Hiya
I have a random question that has nothing to do with this video, but I just started learning sal flip and boneless/bean plant variations. Would tricks like that be allowed in a freestyle contest? I just realized I don't think I've seen anyone do stuff like that.
They absolutely are allowed in freestyle contests. That’s why I love freestyle because you can really make up what ever the hell you want and be happy with it
100%
There are some purists who don’t like boneless and bean plant tricks. You don’t see them much in older videos because putting your foot down (even to push) would hurt your score in some competitions. These days, most judging systems score a little differently, but a flip with 0 feet on the ground still usually scores higher than a trick with 1 foot down 😁 skate how you wanna skate tho! Rules be damned
@@mike_osterman1 awesome!
QUARTER LIFE COLLECTIVE
What brand is it?
Waltz Skateboards
I wonder if the wheel mfg would sell the molds to you to use at a different mfg?
Great idea, but unfortunately it hasn’t helped. We own the molds - that’s no problem. The funny thing about wheel manufacturing is that most (and by most, I mean the 1 other U.S. based OEM manufacturer and the handful of others worldwide) use much different mold/tooling systems. They won’t take on the tooling 😅
reminds me of the late 80s when freestyle died . . . again at a time when skateboarding was on a down trend. seems almost normal now all these years later.
Hah, we’re definitely seeing the ups and downs of the skate industry. I wouldn’t say freestyle is dying. We just had a major North American wheel manufacturer end their wheel program - not a freestyle-specific problem either
😢
That which is not dead may eternal lie, for Andy Anderson will resurrect it in the blink of an eye!
Huh? Please watch the video first
Sorry it had to go.
do you feel like PP had a hand in destroying the freestyle wheel market?
Not at all. This is all just the down side of doing business. Businesses get acquired, close, change their focus. I believe that the sitch with the wheel mfg is mostly due to the state of the skate industry right now - everyone is struggling, or at least seeing sluggish sales compared to 2-3 years ago
Click bait title instant unsub
Bye 🤡
i dont mean to piss on your parade because i love you and all, but "us open" is a REALLY stupid name for an event that ISNT the actual fucking us open!
The U.S Open of Freestyle Skateboarding? I’m not sure what you mean. It was the first open, pro-am freestyle competition hosted in Southern California in over 14 years
i RLY would´nt skate around a pile of shit... -.-
Gotta live on the edge homie!
