I discovered Kendrick Lamar through this album in mid-2013, I was living in my hometown of Damascus in Syria back when the war was just starting to pick up in my neighborhood, I remember downloading it from a torrent site and then throwing it on my MP3 player to listen to it when the power is off, after that day the internet went away for like 25 days and we had only 2 hours per day of electricity, AND!!! I have just deleted everything else on my player so I only got this to listen to for literally 25 days under helicopter shelling and hearing tanks and bombing all day all night, turning this specific track on and blasting the volume up so I won't be hearing any other noises, (mind you I was only 17 back then), and just closing my eyes and feeling peaceful. Today whenever I listen back to it, it teleports me instantly to that little corner in my room behind the computer desk in Damascus/Syria.
i got 10 months. pray that i make it. Edit: i meant 10 months til i turn 21. I'm 27 now. didn't even know any of this was happening, but the fact that so many people have worried about me is heartwarming and i love you all.
He ain't the savior to its listeners though. I feel so much sadness for how we still can't fix the wholesale hostility and frivolousness running among our population. This song just highlights the tragedy.
Even if Kendrick has better lyrical wise albums Section .80 will always be my favorite Kendrick album as this is what got me into K.Dot and many other artist such as him
The nostalgia bros. I remember back in high school and having heard one of my friends got shot at, a classmate was living in the streets because of drugs like crack and meth, a dude got HIV, my niece was raped and a girl got shot in the head just because she was lesbian. And I was 15 when all this happened. That night I really did pray that I could live until I'm 21 and now I'm 24 listening to this song again gives me nostalgic memories. I hope everyone is staying safe out there.
First time I heard this song I felt like heaven came straight to my ear, I remember getting goosebumps throughout the whole track…fast Foward today im still getting goosebumps 🔥….Kendrick really effortlessly outdid himself on this track I respect that man
April 9th, 2022 Today I’m 21 :-D What an enormous blessing to live another year, I am extremely thankful. I pray that I can make it to 22 next year in good spirits and in good health!!
Strangely when I was about 8 or 9, I never expected to live past 21. I always thought I would die somehow or end up killing myself, even if I didn’t get involved in any of the dangerous things that Kendrick discusses in his tracks like violence and drugs. Strange to hear this reflected in this track
tbh i"m here bc of "Headshots" by Zay, i left it in a comment on the music video but this song and the vibes from OutKast feel like a culmination of what Zay was able to do with that song. "Chapter Six" has a special place in my heart but "Headshots" feels a bit more like a complete song. Music is great and timeless:)
The nostalgia, remember hearing this back in my high school days when Kendrick and Cole was saving hip hop and our President was Black..
@@miscellaneous9506 Aren't they all?
Haha same. Exactly how I remember
what a great time that was. life seemed so much better back then
