This video was the real deal. Don't allow fear to keep you from your purpose. I am in the process of moving to South Africa from Alabama. May your videos keep inspiring others. Change is good embrace. Thanks Jay
Thanks, and I don't blame you. I'm too a Alabama guy from Mobile. Leaving the US has been a great decision thus far. Congratulations on your move to South Africa.
Its very normal to feel like that...thats why its best to just do it, rather than planning ahead, when you're in the motion of doing it, you can't just turn around when you feel cold feet...but if you plan it out, then yeah, its very very easy to back out when those feelings come, and they're gonna come....its totally normal, happens to us all. I've moved internationally so many times now, I can't wait to do it again...once you break the ice, you realize it ain't that bad at all...if it ever makes you feel good, you can always think that if it doesn't work out, you can always go back...but you never will. Life is an adventure, live it, don't let life tell you how to live.
Man, I can't wait to be out. The only thing I'm sweating is managing the preparing the property at a distance. The move will be gravy once I can navigate the particulars. I've got a 2 year plan until it's me and everything in the DR. I wish it could be tomorrow.
It's called commitment brah! You did what you did and things are working out fine. Myself, I leaving dolo. Not worried about what it's gonna be, time for a change!!!
This is the type of videos we need! More motivation for people to take that step to move and change! Keep it up! Your story is very similar to mine. I moved from Puerto Rico to FL. I live in Hollywood, FL and I been wanting to move to Colombia because of cost of living and life style. I know that online jobs can be a hit or miss because they can always fire you on the spot. That’s when I decided in 2021 to start buying real state. (Houses below 200k and 2% interest rates) I started coming up with down payments from doing Uber on the side and using business line of credit as down payment. The rents payed off the business line of credit (15 months 0% interest that helped) Bought 3 single family houses with a big lot were I knew I can turn the single family houses to triplexes. Fast foward now I turned the single family houses into triplex by using business line of credit and now I have over $4,000 a month in rent after expenses. Now I’m 14 months away from moving to Colombia. All I have to do is pay the business line or credit off I took of the construction and I’m out of FL.
When I took the leap of faith that I could leave everything behind in Indiana and move to Florida I was completely convinced that I was not doing the right thing at the right time, almost paralyzed with anxiety that was moving things into storage the night into early morning before I closed on selling my home…. My dearest of friends gave me the push and encouragement that I needed to understand that I was prepared and that I would succeed and thrive… That I was strong enough to overcome any obstacle… She was right, God plays a very powerful role in providing me with strength… Now as I am working towards retirement I know that I can do it again and leave the USA and Continue my life… Thank you for being so honest and understanding of the challenges that leaving all that you know can be a blessing… Continue success to you and your family…
It’s totally normal to feel doubt when making any major change in life. I just got a new job and at first I was super excited and now that I’m about to actually leave my current position after 27 years, and start a new one next week, I am scared out of my mind.
Thanks Uncle James! I'm the Aphroone from CHI-TOWN CHICAGO! I'm targeting Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo as my cities of investment for my mobile online business! Gracias a ti! AMEN-ASE!
Yes, people might get cold feet, but the key is having money upfront so that you can be prepared for anything that pops up financially. Thanks for sharing your experience!🙏🏽👊🏽
Was going to write about, it has to make financial cents first. But you can’t put a price on peace and less stress. Secondly - Live your life, the heck what other people think!
Great information for everyone whether you are planning to make a move soon or later or not at all. Continue to give real info bc you are right , vacation is so much different than living in a place.
Bro, you explained many of the emotions I went through as I was preparing for my new chapter here in the DR. I looked around at my home and what I created there and saw the boxes filled with things I was giving away , I made my son a happy man, and I realized yeah it's real...I have arrived and I'm here and still getting in the flow and I'm happy I made the move ....
I hate them flies, too, hahaha. You're right. Once I purchased my plane ticket and showed my wife, it hit me. It's official no turning back. Then I thought about my two months there previously. Had so much fun. I got hyped and thought of my favorite beer spot i usually go to for cold presidente, cigars and music. I miss that spot. I ready 21 days and 13 hours to go. Appreciate the video sir💯🔥🔥🔥
J I love the content, I had 2nd doubts, I’m nervous, I been planning mine for 3 years, I’m scared because I don’t speak the language and I have no family or friends there, but watching your content eases my anxiety and at the same time I’m happy and scared 😳
Very normal feelings making a change like this. I understand the language barrier makes it even scarier but may people navigate here without knowing the language.
The elements, in your topic, are very important and positive, sharing the knowledge, of moving forward., from state side, overseas, exclusive footage, showing, how to handle the transition, yes it is a challenge, however, when the process, is completed, the results , will be rewarding, and a breath of fresh air, remember, thank you , again for sharing, this platform , of inspiration.
Another great vlog. You and Norbeis put out excellent content. My family and I are going to visit the DR next year. I am very excited thanks to your content.
Are there any resources you can recommend. Even if you yourself offer mentorship but everything I’m looking for into cyber security never gives me a straight forward answer on how to even get started for real
I think what may be scary is having to go back if the situation doesn't work out. Would a person be able to go back and would they have something to go back to ¿?
What I do with my wife to get her on board with big decisions is I explain the vision, the reason for it, the steps we will need to take to get there, potential pitfalls if things don't work out, potential results if things do work out and how it can benefit the family. To disagree it has be real logic behind it, it can't be because you just don't want to. Because the burden always falls on the man.
Would you still get U.S. pension if you don’t go back? Or is that something you’re not worried about? It somewhat seems like a way to stop people from leaving.
I think you are referring to social security retirement because pensions are different and not all Americans receive pensions. But to answer your question yes I will get retirement when I turn 62 whether I live in the US or not.
Hi Jay, I love your video very useful and informative, thanks for that. And about 7 months to landing 🛬 at DR for an indefinite period of time. I just waiting for this school year end. Your video makes me believe in my dreams to go back home. 🎉😅 Thank for sharing your experience 😊

It is interesting that you’re going to move to the DR despite how scary it was.
Why is that interesting?
@ You let fear not stop you
from going to different country.

Jay, I'm nervous about moving abroad one day! I'm scared
It's normal to feel that way. A lot of times your joy is on the other side of your comfort zone.
Love the video brotha, how can I move abroad and what type of skill can I build to work from abroad ?!
Get into Coding or Cybersecurity.
Are there any resources you can recommend. Even if you yourself offer mentorship but everything I’m looking for into cyber security never gives me a straight forward answer on how to even get started for real
I am actively seeking a WFH so I can't make the move.
Yes, that the challenge.
How did you find your apartment ? Did you have your apartment before you got there or you was staying in a hotel ?
No we didn't have an apartment line up before we got here. We stayed in an Airbnb for a month. We found it on corotos.com.do
I think what may be scary is having to go back if the situation doesn't work out. Would a person be able to go back and would they have something to go back to ¿?
Going back would be more embarrassing than scary for me if I had to go back😅

I didn't delete any comment from you. But depending what it said, TH-cam will delete it. I've had this happen before.
The hard part is directing the wife.
What makes it hard?
@JayAbroad Im a type A personality, she's laid back and is an expert procrastinator.
What I do with my wife to get her on board with big decisions is I explain the vision, the reason for it, the steps we will need to take to get there, potential pitfalls if things don't work out, potential results if things do work out and how it can benefit the family.
