    I am a single man, but I am not concerned about dating and partying. I live a quiet life, don't go to clubs or bars. Not only that, but I don't drink or smoke.
    I enjoy working out, playing basketball, buying businesses or income streams. The interest of the DR to me is the Cost of living, plenty of melanin, stable government, infrastructure, ease of communication, ability to work digitally, good people, weather and proximity to the US. I have been to many countries and lived in quite a few, Every place has its good and bad. But the most important thing, to find a culture that suits you. I follow Jay and his wife because they give me a straight perspective without the fluff. Appreciate it.

    This will be controversial, but I honestly would be pleased if only those married/related to a Dominican and returning Dominicans would stay. We need more people that merges into our culture and really cares about the advancement of the country than those who come looking for something, don’t find it, and leave to the next stop.

    The Dominican Republic isn’t as cheap as it was 5-10 years ago, but it still offers a more affordable lifestyle compared to many other countries. However, if you’re looking to live extremely cheaply, the DR might not be the best fit.
    The local mindset tends to focus on enjoying the present rather than worrying about the future.
    Ideally, you should have a steady income of at least $2,000 - 2,500 per month (couple) to live comfortably. If that’s not feasible, you might want to consider Thailand as a more budget-friendly option.
    Note: Budget does not include what’s needed to party every nights.

    One thing to note is that most brothas are low budget travelers and don’t necessarily have the strong financial means like other tourists/expats. DR has gotten notably more expensive in the last few yrs, so it’s no surprise that many brothas are packing up and leaving for other countries that are more economical, like perhaps Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, etc.

    That’s the exact point I was trying to make when I commented on your last video. I was saying that since you are married to a Dominican woman who knows the country, and who speaks the language, your experience and transition would be different than someone who decides to live there without that advantage. I thought my perspective on that was accurate, but somehow that comment got deleted. 🤔
    As far as the ex-pat leaving D.R., I think he might be exaggerating about the number. Single TH-camrs who live abroad are always on the go exploring new countries and cultures. If I had to guess, I’d say one of the people he is talking about is TaylorMadeDreams, who I follow as well. Early on, he was hyping up D.R. as Paradise, and encouraged people to get their passports and move there. After living there for years, he had a bad experience and bounced to Thailand. That shocked a lot of us, but I understand why he did it. But his lifestyle is totally different from mine, so that wouldn’t necessarily be a deterrent for me moving there. I don’t drink alcohol, or participate in “Pay-For-Play.” The low cost-of-living, the weather, and the majority of the people looking more like me is what would be my reasons.

    Many people come and go for many different reasons. You have to choose your own reason why you fell in love with the country and why you chose to stay. Now if you love the country, just make friends everywhere you go and you’re gonna be fine if you choose to leave because you rather go to places that your friends are Then make the choice but always make a choice for yourself.

    Yes he is correct a lot of brothers are leaving the Dominican Republic I've live here for over 10 years and there is a mass exited brother's leaving the DR . There coming for vacation only but not to live anymore. Yes there's a few investors but not like before. The reason I can say this because I'm a realtor. One of the reasons are health care and the infrastructure and the woman as well . There are better and cheaper countries like Thailand the Philippines and Panama and Brazil Columbia. The DR isn't the same anymore. I'm on my last stretch than I'm leaving as well next move is Thailand in 4 yrs. And the bottom of the bottom line is its getting to be expensive.

      Hello brother, your comment caught my attention and I want to say this: The infrastructure of the Dominican Republic is just as good as or better than some of the countries you mentioned, and it is still growing. As for security, Brazil is much more dangerous, and so is Colombia, not to mention the poisonous and dangerous animals in Thailand and Brazil. A country is not just about women, but also its culture, food, and how people treat each other. But if you're only going through life looking for the cheapest or easiest option, I hope things go well for you.

      DR will just fine so let them brothers leave. I don't care what they say Thailand and Brazil are not better options and their prices will rise with the influx of the brothers. As far as health care anything major like surgeries etc etc should be done in the US and nothing beats a 4-5 hour flight to see your primary care doctor. Guys have problems with the women there because they try to turn women of night into girlfriends and wives and that's not possible unless you want to set ya wallet on fire and even that won't stop her from being outside.

    Been in the DR a little over 4 years now… only go home for an occasional visit. No country is perfect, but I am completely free here. With a US passport, it’s like having a diplomatic passport… the most important aspect of the DR is unenviable freedom…you can’t find in the US.

      As an ex-Floridian; now living in the DR… Florida gators, just don’t go swimming in a lake or river at night, and don’t feed them 😅as far as hurricanes, yeah there are vulnerable to them, but many places are high and dry… it all depends what you are looking for…

    • @JayAbroad
      @JayAbroad  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      My take is, it doesn't have anything to do with what me and my family got going on. Regarding your friend, I've never heard anyone selling their condo, home, land, cars, dog, bicycle, microwave, air fryer, because they were rounding and deporting Mexicans in the US. Let me know if you have or he has.

    Hi, Jay. I read a few years ago that more than 40 million people move to a new country every year but a bunch of those people keep rolling trying to find the "perfect place". Unfortunately that dreamed "perfect place" does not exist. Let's take Finland as an example, Finland is considered to be the happiest country; however that conclusion is based on what the people can accomplish materially and all the services that the government offers to them. But sadly the country suffers from isolation amongst neighbors they have one of the highest suicide rate of the world and alcoholism is really notable. They have one of the hardest winters of the Nordic countries. What I'm trying to say is that there is not a perfect place or thing on this planet. The wise thing to do is to learn to prioritize. What do I personally like of this place that other places don't offer. Is this place politically stable? Is it safe for me and my family? Do I see people laughing most of the time? Ect, etc, etc. Sorry, I'm going to have to cut this message due to too many people around me jumping out of joy up and down. Ah, look at this, they are just celebrating the fact that they are Dominican. They do that twice a day; when they get up and just before they go to bed. ¡Ah, Dominicans! The older we get the more we love this country. Jay, is it true that we may have petroleum in Pedernales? God bless the whole planet from the Dominican Republic

    • @JayAbroad
      @JayAbroad  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Price gouging has gotten out of control. We all know there is a gringo tax on non Dominicans, and we okay with that. But now the locals are going to the extreme with the gringo taxes. No way I should be paying prices I wouldn’t even pay in the States.

    • @JayAbroad
      @JayAbroad  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That's interesting. I don't pay gringo tax. If it doesn't have a price on it I don't shop there. Very simple.
