Col. London is the first African American test pilot of the Boeing C-17, one of the largest military aircrafts in the Air Force. He is the 9th of only 29 Black pilots to have graduated from the Air Force’s test pilot school in it’s 75 years of existence.
I was a KC-10 Instructor Boom Operator stationed at March AFB, CA. We would deploy to Edwards AFB, CA to air refuel the Flight Test squadrons. I definitely remember seeing Col. London in the left seat during some of those missions refueling the C-17 test aircraft.
Colonel London, I was occupational safety and health manager for wing assembly on the Long Beach, CA McDonnell Douglas (later Boeing) C-17 line and worked there long enough to see "P1 through P-19" roll out. I am also a retired CA ANG Medical Service Corps officer with 23 years total active enlisted/reserve/ANG service. Spent nine years total at the former Norton AFB, CA (63 MAW) and currently reside in Washington, DC. Thank you for your service and mentoring these young people for aviation and other careers!!.....

Racism ruined my Air Force Pilot career. White instructors eliminated 100% of the Black pilot trainees in my class.
