I do also remember some intro/teaser from some mod I don’t even remember back from 2005-2010. It looked like some very poor quality video of gameplay/cinematics, where Trent actually had dark hair, presumably starting the story in Rheinland and the planets were arranged in 3 dimensions relatively to each other in some ‘pinkish’ system. I wish I could find that video/mod again.

I'm pretty sure that whole storyline got axed, together with this intro. The explanation I invented myself is that people gave up waiting for the nomads after a few decades and they're considered a myth by the few people that even heard about them. Mostly because the aliens were politically inconvenient. (800 years did pass since that intro).

@@Adnub fair enough, we got enough problems getting everyone to take proper precautions against sars-cov-2 after merely a fifth of a century.
He went to the Sirius star system but the sleeper ships went to the Sirius sector. He never reached the colonies.
