Very nice that you still have your original childhood copy from an era where everyone threw away the boxes. I think many of us would trade a mint copy for our childhood copy in an instant. I'd say the inserts are correct for that time period.
I remember my parents getting me a copy of Super Mario Bros. 2 in a store called Bradlees. I wanted this game so bad when I saw my cousin play this game at his house.

Supathanx for Super Mario Bros 2. Actually it is my most favourite of the series. It is the most controversial, because basically it's another game with Mario frontend. But I think it influenced the development of the whole Mario World greatly and in ways I love. Like minigames, vertical scrolling, picking up and throwing objects, playable characters with individuality(Iconic Luigi got taller), and defeating bloody clock. Looking forward to the next one.
This was a pretty big deal for me when I got it as a gift, at arguably the height of my Mario Madness. I cut up the box and hung the front cover as a poster, a practice I continued for many years... and really regretted once eBay came into being! I flipped through the manual over and over to the point it was a tattered rag, and practiced drawing the Mario characters using it as a reference. In particular, the way eyes were drawn in the running artwork on page 9 influenced how I would draw eyes for many years. This was also the first time I saw Mario and Luigi with brown hair as opposed to black hair, and I thought it was a really cool change!
@@neypaz8054 Mario odyssey, and 3d worlds are completely different. If you’re referring to the actual NEW Super Mario series which is a blend of 2d side scrolling with 3D graphics then yes I agree

I completely disagree with the criticism that this game gets. For Nintendo here in the US, it was way too soon to rock the boat and take a chance on a "similar" looking and nightmare challenge of a game like Super Mario Bros. 2J. It was just way too risky at the time. Doki Doki Panic was made for a festival that took place in Japan. The four characters used were created for the event. It was developed by the Mario team, that's why there is already similar mechanics that seem right out of a Mario game. To me, there is so much untapped potential for the universe this game holds and it's a shame that we'll likely never get another one!
I was so, so bad at picking up the turnips and throwing them. I'm embarrassed all over again just remembering how bad I was. Princess Peach's floatiness was the only thing I could do well, hahaha
yes, the Western version of the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 is called Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels and the Japanese version of the Western Super Mario Bros. 2 is called Super Mario USA

I faintly remember I got a free ride as well (maybe I was wrong because it was about 10 years ago) as Mini Mario on a green Koopa Troopa in New Super Mario Bros. for the DS, where Mario doesn't actually bounce around the enemies, because normally he does. Maybe this was a false memory but I should've went back in time to see if it was real or not.
@@yauy Well if you want a cheaper alternative, if you at any point decide to give the Pokemon franchise a try, I'd suggest downloading the older titles off the eShop for much cheaper since the 3DS and Wii U eShops are still up and running. But only if your interested. If not, that's cool.

SMB2 had to explain why it was so different. Now SMB doesn’t give a crap about how different each game is from the next.
The NSMB games all feel the same. Only the first one (DS) and to a lesser extent the second (Wii) felt fresh and interesting

Interesting. The Manual is right with Birdo but the Credits in the Game telling that Birdo is Ostro. The In-Game issue was fixed on the GBA Version.

That would be cool, but also pricey. I've gotten to the point where I'm pretty much done spending money on retro games save for replacements.
