Albert Cummings really knows how to sing the blues! Love his guitar licks, i'd say, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Jimi Hendrix, Stevie was after all, influenced by Jimi.. Getting back to Albert Cummings,he's one of the best blues players i have heard, this being the
first time i have heard him and his great band , you are right Fil, the rhythm section sure does compliment Albert's playing! Thanks for the break down of this fabulous blues player.... Also loved the color of his Strat and that pearl white Fret Board, beautiful! You Rock, Fil!

This man has the power. It's crazy, I see it so much and it goes unrecognized for what it is. You have to look beyond the individual components of his presentation, but you have to appreciate each component for its' superiority on its' own, that way you get the real mind blowing experience when you watch him put it all together so seamlessly and effortlessly. Above all of this, you have his ability to bring emotion into his performance. This is the kind of person the word maestro was coined for.

Just finished your latest analysis of Buddy Guy in 1974 and thought I’d suggest taking a listen to Albert Cummings but you beat me to it! I saw Albert at the Chicago House of Blues where he proceeded to blow up two Fender Bassmans and finished on a Blues Deville! One of my favs and still a under appreciated player and working man. He was still building homes out East when I talked to him between sets. Listen to Lonely Bed. The dynamic range and crescendo are noteworthy and amp blowing!

Albert’s not only a top-notch player & vocalist, he’s a helluva nice guy! I had the pleasure of seeing him at a small local venue, and he was happy to chat and take pictures with the audience. I got to meet him & talk for a few minutes. Soon after that, he was showing his pedal board to a guitarist friend of mine & explaining the different effects. I talked to him again about how he uses a wound G string. I believe he said he uses 12s. Just a friendly dude...and a great sense of humor, too!

He did a great collab with her - Bon Jovi's "You Give Love A Bad Name" - which you'll still find on both of their channels. I like Fil for much the same reasons that I like Sina - he's a hard-working, decent guy who never has a bad word to say about anybody on his channel and I wish them both all the best.

Good God! I had the same Strat! Mine was black with a white pick guard and an Ash neck! Had that guitar for years and loved it! Gave it to my son-in-law.... That axe was beat to shit. Used and abused. Loved and adored and aside from my '72 Les Paul was the best feeling electric I ever had. Actually, I played that Strat more Live on stage than I did the Gibson. Tough. Rude. Smooth and easy! In fact, in my cover photo that is the guitar I am playing...

I was surprised to see him using the bridge position, especially with a humbucker on a Strat. I noticed too, that his neck pickup, looked like a Tele or lipstick style pickup. Some things you don't normally see on a Strat, played by a blues player. He definitely does get an amazing tone out of that guitar, for sure!👍😎🎸🎶

  • @sophiemilton5939
    @sophiemilton5939 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

He's playing a Stratocaster-style guitar and like many people have done he's had a humbucker fitted in the bridge position.
Nothing too surprising there but what is very unusual is that he's changed out the neck pickup for what appears to be a Telecaster neck-position pickup.
That's a really unusual choice as the neck pickup of a Telecaster is widely considered to be the weakest part with a rather bland sound that few have much enthusiasm for.
He's a great player and like all great players he would still sound wonderful no matter how crappy the pickups were but it's worth mentioning because it's an interesting and very unusual choice.

The very first of the song reminded me of Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile"(the slow blues one with Winwood). Later on he reminded me of the notes Clapton might play, but with the attack of S.R.V., or maybe Joe Bonamassa, or Walter Trout, since he steered clear of the Albert King licks. Thanks for introducing another person I'm going to have to check out. Speaking of "Voodoo Chile", Clapton and Steve Winwood do a version on their 2009 Live From Madison Square Garden release. Also Gary Moore plays some energetic non bluesy hard rock type material on his Live At The Monsters Of Rock in 2003 release. He also covers J.Beck's version of "Shapes Of Things".

Heard several different influences in his style but appreciated that he didn’t always play flat. Had a really different vibe with his intonation. He sounds pure blues but with a twist. Never heard of him and appreciate the review.

Thnx, i dont think i knew his music yet, but he's most certainly good, dang...
Obviously, my mind working as crappy as it does, it comes up with ideas that are related, yet far removed from what i just watched.
And this time, for some reason, "Blue" Lou Marini came to mind, as a request artist.
Now i do know he's a sax player, and not a string man, but you've ventured out before, and might be willing to do a little special on Blue Lou.
If i think about being a musician, and with that, being able to play with as many great musicians as possible, then you've just become Blue Lou, because he did exactly that, he played with EVERYONE!!!!! lol
either way, i hope you get around addressing Lou in some video in the future, if only because he's quite the interesting guy :)

Yeah, that guy was pretty darn good and the way he added the maj 3rd in and then later maj 3rd and even phrygian! really? He really threw that in there plus the obligatory "Hendrix" chord near the end.

I believe the biggest reason Albert is not more popular is that he is not different enough from the crowd of modern Blues Musicians all vying for a smaller and smaller pie. Musicians like Aynsley Lister, Ana Popovic, Popa Chubby for me give me a fresh perspective on the Blues. I also could be full of crap and change my mind tomorrow.

I love this guy. I’ve been listening to him a lot. One of my favs these days. He’s got the playing & the voice for sure. ...Kinda looks like a truck driver and not a musician. But that’s ok. 🎶 🎸
