    I would definitely miss music but toilets that can flush are a necessity 🤣

      stayed in a place with a compost toilet for two weeks. It was perfectly fine. Not smelly. And better for the environment.

      @@whocaresguy It was in an off-grid house on Kangaroo Island, temperature was at about 40°C during the day. When windy it would sometimes smell a little like compost, but only in that tiny room where it was installed.

    I would miss hygiene /skin care products: sanitary pads, toothpaste, deodorant, sunblock
    I don't see myself wearing reusable cloth for those days of the month.

      you just take cups with you or use a sea sponge both were available during WW2 but unused because it was not prober for unmarried women to use.

      Omen sill had a lot of power and influence on daily life.
      it’s an oversimplification but some people got a weird idea about the past, about power and dependency.

    I miss everything about Outlander, time travel, history, romance, love, pain & suffering that turns into such sensual love making for Clare & Jamie. Outlander has so many twists & turns in each other's characters. Leaving us all craving for the next episode!

    Labour saving devices--all of them. Back in the day exploited servants and slaves were stand ins for the numerous machines we enjoy now. Take just one example: Wash day used to be a huge ordeal. Now we can toss a load of any size into a washing machine and sip wine while it does all the work. A few minutes in the dryer and bingo! All done by the time you've finished your second glass.

      One of my favourite historical shows is the comedy Plebs where the main characters that aren't slaves are a water cooler, copier printer, and paper shredder in Ancient Rome. It makes me think about how much tech is an unimaginable luxury, even if the point is a joke.

      But they had much less people, many more animals, much more space, nature, silence… you can hardly find these today…. as for democracy, post covid we can seriously ask whether we are really free. Technological surveillance and the economic system means that we are all modern slaves living under the thumb and gaze of those with power.
      Personally though, i would miss good dental care and being able do dye my hair…:-)

    I would miss Penicillin and all the other medical stuff we have today. I mean it would be fun to visit the past but who in their right mind would want to live in the past. I mean if you think 2020 or 2021 was bad, it was far worse in the past.

    I would miss hygiene products: toillet paper, sanitary pads, tampons, deodorants, tooth paste, running water, electricity, washing machine...dentists, lot's and lot's of things...
    Imagine those people, weeks or months without bathing, without deodorant, without brushing teeths in the morning...
    Something I noticed, Claire and Jamie, they have lots of steaming love scenes...and they never wash themselves,🤢 before or after... they get up and go... 🤢🤢🤢🥶

      @@vphobicc566 Except in the setting of the show, they've already discovered they can't change the past. It appears their form of time travel is the closed system, where whatever happened is what already happened in the past, you just didn't know it was because of time travel.
      Not to mention, the invention of the cheeseburger is hardly pinned down, though (and I'm no expert) I think we can pinpoint roughly when they became popular. So if some family started making cheeseburgers I don't think time would unravel or anything, it's not like she's inventing fast food chains in the 1700's. (which of course would destroy America in it's infancy).

    Hi, English people dont eat 'peanut butter and jelly' and would have no idea what it is. Neither have we ever used the word 'aspirin.' No judgement, just thought you should know there was probably a lot of non-american eye rolling when the English lass says she misses 'aspirin.' That is all, have a nice day :)

    Antibiotics, vaccines, anti viral drugs, hospitals, qualified doctors and nurses, surviving childbirth, kids surviving past their 5th birthday, not dying from smallpox, plague, famine or murder, living past 45, political emancipation, clean potable water, better nutrition, literacy, education, animal rights, child labour laws, abolishment of slavery and not being executed for stealing a coat.

      @@Queen_Springsteen and also hygiene. Consider in that time, they considered water to be bad for the skin, they believed it opened the skin pores and left it vulnerable to inffections. So they didn't bath much. They cleaned themselves a little with towels and such, but bathing? Maybe once a year. Kids were bathed when born and never again until they were like 6. There mere idea that a woman , from a year in which regular bathing was a thing already would engagle in sexual activity ( even oral one) with a guy from a century were bathing often was not a thing...like , when i think of outlander 's premise in an actual historically accurate context...i can't help but thinking " disgusting". Like, the first thing a women from claire's , brianna's or our time would think of a guy from there would be " yeah, maybe cute if he didn't smell this bad"
