Harry, Ron, and Hermione were never really a love triangle, it's more just Ron's insecurities. And it's not like he really thinks Harry and Hermione like each other that way, it's more the idea that he's not enough. He's been overshadowed his whole life, then he becomes best friends with the Chosen One and his other best friend is the smartest person in the whole school. That's a lot to live up to and he's always fell victim to those insecurities. Such a relatable, human vulnerability.
I know this is a small theme but Kreacher and his story and the way that it impacts Harry and in turn Harry impacts Kreacher...that's my favourite theme in the story probably.
@@ML0694 I think that was sort of the point of his treatment of Kreacher, it showed that he wasn't the perfect father figure for Harry like we saw in the previous 2 books. It showed what he was truly like: short tempered and emotionally broken from his 12 years in Azkaban.
The thing i think you missed in this book is that the ministry is not evil before the wedding. We are told several times that the ministry is still trying to keep the order and is against Voldemort. Sure, they aren't doing a good job and are infiltrated and Scrimgeour ultimately dies. After his death though, it's literally just run by Voldemort.
I think the ministry is "evil" by the third book when we start to see the corruption with Buckbeak. They are not "evil" in the sense that they're being controlled by the death eaters, but "evil" through their prejudice and corruption.
Yeah, it is during the wedding after all that they get the message that the ministry has fallen, until this point the ministry are still trying to counter Voldemort albeit not very successfully.
Exactly. The ministry is still in the same state as it had been for the whole past year. Nothing major changed before the wedding. It isn't a "zombeys are trying to break down the door" situation, as they put it.
Regarding Dudley's redemption, Rowling stated that once he and Harry where grown up, they got together to let their children play together. They still rarely talked to each other but it's heartwarming to have that image of them both seating in a couch, just smiling as they watch their kids have the family relationship they never had with each other.
People get married all the time during war time, especially those who are going to fight in that war. Mrs. Weasley makes a point about it in the previous book about people rushing into things because they don't know what will happen next. Also, its definitely a matter of life needing to go on despite what's happening around them, even if just for morale purposes. The portions with Aunt Muriel and the section from Rita's books are so frustrating to read and give me the same reaction I had to Umbridge. They're so realistically evil and petty, like y'all said there are so many people like that and almost everyone knows someone like that. Love these reactions guys, sad theres only one left!
About Bill and Fleur's wedding, I think that it's because they are in war time they wanted to do the wedding. Because as long as they knew they would have die the next day (mrs Weasley made a point on this in HBP). So personally I think that it was a pretty good idea, it shows some lightness and some hope during the time their living in.
Is about living the present. They could die any second so celebrating love might be out of place, but it also makes sense. If i don't marry you now, you can die or i can die and we would lose the chance of doing something important for us and families and we would regret later. People in real life dont stop living because they live in a war zone, if they stopped their lifes over that, they forget what fighting for
I wholeheartedly agree. Maybe because they listen to audiobook instead of reading they did not understand. Well i dont know i havent listen to an audiobook. I prefer reading books because im a visual learner
I think it was just the movie which made it look like Dumbledore was using Harry and didn't care about him, all because of the one scene with Snape's memories and the whole "don't tell me you have grown to care about the boy" and "you raised him like a pig for slaughter". Dumbledore knew that Snape hated Harry and was genuinly surprised and touched that finally he started to care about him. And also Snape didn't know what Dumbledore knew, he didn't know the whole plan. I think that to make the plan work, Dumbledore had to make sure that Harry would think that he was really going to die. I also think that Dumbledore knew that Harry would survive (Dumbledore always seemed to know about things somehow), but couldn't tell anyone, because Voldemort didn't know it either yet and it gave Harry a chance to survive his attack. I don't blame people who have seen only the movies, they made it very confusing, but the book makes it clear that Dumbledore actually cared too much about Harry and did everything to help him survive and defeat the Dark Lord. Looking forward to your last reaction, guys!
Yeah, he likes 'aww, Serveres u actually care for the boy, dont u' but Micheal Gambon mess it up. And Snape just felt betrayed that Dumbledore keep it from him. But it's not wrong to say that he did used Snape a little.
This is why I feel uncomfortable with Dumbledore bashing fics. It's not the character I read, his love made him do flaws that contradicted his perfect plans - the complete opposite of the manipulative!Dumbledore they always try to portray.
i love that you brought up the wedding because i remember harry having a similar reaction, being so focused on the war, that he didn't feel like it was the time for a wedding. and they also talk about how arthur and molly got married the last time a war started which is actually a very realistic thing. people tend to rush things because the threat that they'll lose everything is so apparent, they'll try to cling to anything "normal" or happy
What did you guys think of the scenes with the Dursley’s after reading all 7 books? My favorite interaction was definitely when Dumbledore visits and points out that petunia failed to treat Harry with love and turned her own child into a spoiled brat
it's super awesome to see people not just experiencing the movies but the books for the first time, it makes me so happy to see you get so deep into the world
I quite liked the wedding it was nice getting that break before following the golden trio on a very obvious dark trip and even during the wedding you could still somewhat sense the tension and buildup for the upcoming battles.
For the first part of the book, the thing that bothered me most that the movie just flubbed, was Kreacher's character arc. The scene in the book where Kreacher tells them about Regulus and the locket is absolutely heartbreaking in the book, and then how Kreacher is so supportive after that.... The movie just did that whole story dirty.
Kreachers tale is one of my favorite chapters. The was he is described as shaking and being forced to keep talking. Makes you really think about what house elves are put through. Also great moment when voldemort's oversight about him shows his flaw is never never taking his enemies seriously. He never bothers to learn about stuff he doesn't think is worth his time like the power of elves to apparate anywhere and wand lore. those are eventually his downfalls.
I was reading this for the first time, in the backseat of our car during a trip to the city. When Hedwig died, that was the first time I had ever cried while reading. I so wished I had read it in the privacy of my own room, instead of having to hold the feelings in, trying to keep the wiping of my tears unnoticed.
Once you finish you should watch Super Carlin Brothers video series called 'Dumbledore's Big Plan'. It gives a good explanation of how Dumbledore sets Harry up as the sacrifice for the wizarding world
They did the scene where Dudley sort of made an apology to Harry however to suit the mood of the movie opening they had to cut it, even though the director David Yates said he hated doing it.
The wedding and the pace of things is actually explained by molly weasley in i think half blood prince. There is a moment where she explains why she doesnt support the marriage because it is rushed. Then she goes on saying it happened the last time voldemort was powerfull as well. People rushing to get married because the future is so uncertain. People are looking for an affirmation of love. Marriage and babies are a part of that. So while yes i agree it feels rushed especially after moody dying i think that was done on purpose as well.
Rons insecurity is completely justifiable IMO. He is worried that the woman he loves doesn't love him back, he is surrounded by people who he thinks are more remarkable than him, his best friend is the chosen one, and he is wearing voldemorts soul as a necklace.
Speaking of Horcruxes, a lot of people don't consider that the Dursleys lived with one for 11 full years straight. That couldn't have done anything to help their tempers.
To be fair, the wedding pushed thru because the ministry was still there and they still protected somehow, they needed exactly access to the ministry to get all the trace to the burrow. I guess it's like impending doom, but they still have a little faith since there's a new minister.
When you get characters like Muriel and Rita, you almost have to give a modicum of respect to the Death Eaters, because at least they're putting their lives on the line for what they believe.
Can't wait to hear your thoughts. Please read Percy Jackson series after this. It's really amazing. But just books, don't watch the movies, they're garbage (or at least first books, then movies)
Sometimes I think it’s funnier when someone first watches the Percy Jackson movies. They wonder why people don’t like them. Then when they read the books they’re always so offended. 😂 The only issue is that it does spoil. So definitely, books first.
What do you think about teleportation in this universe? It's the book when Ron got splinched. In the movie (Part 1) Hermione says it but it's not explained in the movies and neither is whole teleportation mechanism. In the books, teleportation and splinching was first mentioned back in Goblet of Fire and there is teleportation course in the Half-blood prince. Also, you hardly mention any classes. I love DADA and honestly think non-verbal spells that were introduced in book 6 are also cool.
Percy Jackson would be a fun one. Or if you want to try a more adult series and dive into a fully developed universe, you could try the Wheel of Time series. It's fantastic and there is a TV show coming out on Amazon Prime in November about it too. From what I've heard the first season is supposed to be the first book, but with elements taken from books 2 and 3, but I also have no clue how close to the books the show is gonna be.
@@saharamoon. That's a controversial opinion lol I still enjoy them and I'm 26. It all depends on what people enjoy when reading I guess. To each their own.
I don't know if someone commented that already but there were a bunch of filmed but deleted scenes in Harry Potter, including the Dursley-interaction. It's really well done too in my opinion, I kinda forget that it isn't actually in the movie... So maybe if you want, you could do a video reacting to deleted scenes? There are some compilations of them on youtube!
im so sad literally they made the scene where Dudley was like why isn't he coming with us and they DIDNT include it???????? I know its really minor but Dudleys slight redemption or like whatever that was made sense and I liked it a lot in the books
I think you glossed over the fact that until they got attacked at the wedding, the Ministry had not fallen. Up until that point, the Ministry under Scrimgeour was still functioning as a government, still opposing Voldemort, etc. It may have been doing some things that Harry disapproved of, but it was on the same side as him, and there were plenty of good people working there at all levels of government. It was only after Voldemort overthrew the government in a coup, killed Scrimgoeur and actually took over the Ministry that it became outright evil. He installed a puppet Minister, put prominent Death Eaters into positions of power (and people like Umbridge who agreed with his ideals), and started carrying out a Blood-Supremacist agenda.
I think it would be unrealistic for them not to fight between themselves. I was homeless in the park with my best friend and even this lack of comforts made my friend and me snap and friends abandon even best friends in that situation, let alone war and for Ron who lived well fed and well rested all his life.
Agreed. I'll never understand how people think it's unexcusable to react in those ways during a literal war. They and everyone they love could die at any moment; they're virtually starving to death, they're tired, cold, and scared. That's the exact sort of reaction the majority of people would have.
I really enjoy your book reviews, the insight and analysis is interesting and not pretentious unlike many book reviews I've tried. You stay focused on the books, while also having a sense of humour. I have only found 2 book reviewers at a similar quality in a concise format to yours, and would love it if you could continue with other book series. I completely understand if it is not financially viable or doesn't interest you though. I would recommend The Kingkiller Chronicle's by Patrick Rothfuss, they are two of the most beautifully well written books ive ever read. With a narrative that immerses you as well as J.K.Rowling did with her magical world.
Snape could face Voldemort with more composure was because he was excellent in occlumency... You see Voldemort was skilled legimen.,.. so he could read your thoughts with eye contact... but you can stop it by practicing occlumency
I would like to recommend something that is completely different. It is the TV series "Dexter" and the books by Jeff Lindsay that it is based on. I find the differences between how the main character is in the series, and how he is in the books very interesting, and would love to hear your always very in-depth and profound opinions on that. Especially in relation to the controversial ending of the series, plus the fact that a new season of it is in the works, which will then be the final ending.
Personally, I love the book reviews. Would love to see you do the Inheritance Cycle. Edit: Oh and statistically, the number of weddings goes up in times of war. At the start of WWII the percentage shot up by 83% in the US alone and people literally queued to get married.
@@ML0694 Each to their own. I personally derived no similarities to Star Wars and thought it more obviously Tolkien based. (Paolini is a big fan) I also didn't feel anything needed to be cut as there was an actual point to all the slower parts. I thought some parts were rushed, particularly towards the end and the only thing that annoyed me slightly about it was that I had to keep flicking to the back for translations. On the whole, though.. It was one of the best fantasy series I've read. Paolini's writing and world building are magnificent.
The wizards believed the the history book writer talk to Rita skelter but we know she didn't. Rita skelter was listening in on conversations in her disguise form when the history writer talking to doubledore
The memories in the movie were from Snape’s perspective because they were his and we all see things differently. Im sad I didnt get to read along with you but sadly my library has a 25 person (3 week loan period per person) waitlist for each audiobooks. I like rereading with the audiobook because sometimes with print words I miss things. I read them all back when they came out. I’d say read the Shadow and Bone series ready for season 2 whenever that happens but the first trilogy is very 2012 ya and Alina is so whiny. Six of Crows is so much better but it might spoil the show unless you wait till all the seasons have aired. Some of the Ghibli movies were based on books so that could be a good idea to read, some of them are pretty short too. You could do Artemis Fowl and watch the recent Disney adaptation if other people are interested, same with Percy Jackson especially since you like Troy and have read the Iliad. The movies suck though if you’re a fan of the books and the author of Percy Jackson hates them too.
Maybe try reading the Hogwarts Library books after finishing Deathly Hallows: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages & The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
I don't think Dumbledore was bad, he didn't use Harry, he was just conscious and aware that Harry *had* to die and he couldn't do anything about it. He wasn't happy for it, he definetely felt sorry but he's an ancient wise wizard, he would have found crying about it to be useless. He could have killed Harry himself all this time if he was bad, but he didn't, he protected him and wanted him to live well until his time were to come
In terms of a potential book reaction, I'd recommend Dune, since the 1st movie is coming out soon. If you want to watch a video version I would recommend the Sci-fi Channel 3 part minieseries made in 2000 (not the Children of Dune mini series or the David Lynch Dune movie).
This recommendation may seem like it comes out of no where but The Good Place is a really good show that you guys may like. It focuses a lot on morality and what it really means to be a good person, as well as whether or not people are even capable of becoming good. It's pretty silly but is also really wholesome. I just think with how much you guys focus on character arcs it may be something that would interest you, even if you just watch it on your own time.
When you’re finished with the books there is a good interview on You tube called “A conversation between JK Rowling and Daniel Radcliffe.” It’s got some good anecdotes and insights.
Id recommend reading and maybe watching The Hunger Games(i didn’t like the movie adaption), Ready Player One(you’ve seen the movie), and Halo(particularly the first 4 in order of release, and the Kilo-Five Trilogy if you’re up for a few more, unfortunately there are a lot of Halo books beyond those so y’all might not want to get into them for fear of having to choose a stopping point).
I see a couple of people have mentioned it, but I'd also love to see a review of Six of Crows! (The shadow and bone books are only ok imo, and not necessary for understanding SoC) Also, if you ever get the chance to look through the illustrated Harry Potter books, you totally should, they're beautiful.
Can y’all be the first TH-cam channel to cover The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins? It’s a very simple but powerful book series. IMO better then the hunger games just a shame that it doesn’t get much attention
I think James has read The Hunger Games, they reacted to the movies. But it could be a interesting persepective as a re-read and a first time for ninetailbrush
It would be a good trilogy to react to. I know books must be a lot of work to make a video to. The Hunger Games is three books which arent too long but they have heaps of themes and topics to talk about.
i think deathly hallows was an epic book, kreacher was the most important issue that you hardly touched, his story arc apart from all that harrys fight with lupin when he offers to come with them. i was so mad on harry but when he turns to ron and hermione and tells one single line with tears in his eyes . he says " parents are meant to be with their children and i cried. in future if i ever do a book review with my budd sam i will cover chapter to chapter for emphasis. that would be fine. love you guys
I would like that you read The Hunger Games trilogy. They aren’t that long or that complex and there are some big differences between the movies and the books that make the story way better

People will always try their best to live normal lives and to look for positive things, even in hard times. For example, there were plenty of people who got married in concentration camps.
since you're taking sugestions may I sugest "The Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley, it's a 4 books series telling the story of king Arthur and Camelot but told from the perspective of the women, that is the 'witch' Morgana, the queen Guinivere etc, and these two represent the whole debate in the transition from the old pagan religions to the new one (chistianity)
If you do get time to do another book series I would be interested to see you guys react to Percy Jackson! I think you would want to read it first and do the movie! :)
If you aren’t familiar with it, maybe you’d like to try the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series. There’s a few different versions… The books, the radio version, the TV series, the movie… If you did see the movie already, the other versions are somewhat different… Plus it’s pretty fun lol… I think they’re relatively short too.
if y'all are still gonna continue the book reviews, i highly recommend the mistborn trilogy by brandon sanderson! also the stormlight archive. the murderbot diaries by martha wells is really good too and the books are shorter! also, a percy jackson and the olympians read would be nice. 🕺
Please, read “The Neverending Story”. I think is the best fantasy book of all times. It has so many awesome moments of creativity and imagination… and it is, in my humble opinion, one of the most difficult books to adapt into a movie (in fact, the movie adaptation only adapts the first half of the book; probably because the second part is crazy, like a psychedelic experience, but in a good way 🙂). It is a book about books, about how a story is created, and about how a story is read. At the same time, it has a lot of layers of meanings that point out to different target audiences: childrens, teenagers, adults, old ppl, readers who look only for a story, or other readers who look for parables and hidden meanings, etc. I think you would have a lot of material for an interesting review, and it is only one book. Thanks from Spain (for your awesome videos, and for helping me, without knowing it, to improve my english 🤩).

The ending scene with teh Dudley has a cut scene in the movies, is good
I also feel like in war times, people make an effort to have some type of normalcy. Just to keep them from going insane or panic.
Yay! I have been waiting for this one
Got you!!
Dudley's redemption was filmed and you could probably find it on youtube.
I been waiting for this moment for a looong time
Definitely read The Shining and Doctor Sleep.
Deathly Hallows is absolutely the best book. Can’t put it down when I read it
Dudley redemption was actually shot. It's a deleted scene
Hunger games movies are okay but the books are fabulous
What do you think about Lupin visiting the trio at Sirius' house?
Maybe try reading the Hogwarts Library books after finishing Deathly Hallows: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages & The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
Hunger games is good choice
I second this!
I recommend Bella (2013). It's a beautiful movie based on true events. I'm very curious to see how you two would analyze it
When you’re finished with the books there is a good interview on You tube called “A conversation between JK Rowling and Daniel Radcliffe.” It’s got some good anecdotes and insights.
You guys really should watch all the deleted scene from the movies.
Somebody should make a compilation of these guys saying yeah
👍📺👀
"False Memory" by Dean Koontz
And
"Next" by Michael Crichton
Also
"The Broker" by John Grisham
I see a couple of people have mentioned it, but I'd also love to see a review of Six of Crows! (The shadow and bone books are only ok imo, and not necessary for understanding SoC)
Also, if you ever get the chance to look through the illustrated Harry Potter books, you totally should, they're beautiful.
There are actually some deleted scenes from the beginning of the movie, including a bit from the Dursley's: th-cam.com/video/gzBVX2qgR7Y/w-d-xo.html
Can y’all be the first TH-cam channel to cover The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins? It’s a very simple but powerful book series. IMO better then the hunger games just a shame that it doesn’t get much attention
@@ML0694 NO WAY! Nothing would make me happier then seeing that series get turned into a show or movie 😭 the only book series to make me cry
can you please talk more about ginny?
Dumbledore didn't used Harry, he knew what Harry would want to do when he find out the truth about he's and horcrux
Yh he ain’t a horcrux.
Lets go!
In the future it would be fun a hunger games book series
I think James has read The Hunger Games, they reacted to the movies. But it could be a interesting persepective as a re-read and a first time for ninetailbrush
It would be a good trilogy to react to. I know books must be a lot of work to make a video to. The Hunger Games is three books which arent too long but they have heaps of themes and topics to talk about.
@@judem4841 yes!
i think deathly hallows was an epic book, kreacher was the most important issue that you hardly touched, his story arc apart from all that harrys fight with lupin when he offers to come with them. i was so mad on harry but when he turns to ron and hermione and tells one single line with tears in his eyes . he says " parents are meant to be with their children and i cried. in future if i ever do a book review with my budd sam i will cover chapter to chapter for emphasis. that would be fine. love you guys
The way of kings by Brandon Sanderson (easy read)
I'd like to see j.k do a book about peverell brothers?
I would like that you read The Hunger Games trilogy. They aren’t that long or that complex and there are some big differences between the movies and the books that make the story way better
Read the SONG OF ICE AND FIRE series (game of thrones) and the DUNE series , please.
Soo excited!! 🤩
Can I please ask what subjects you both study in college or uni? You are really good at discussing books. Critical thinking👌👌👍
Neither of us are in college. This is just high school education
@@whitenoisereacts OMG, you are in high school? Wow...
@@percyweasley9301 he didn't say they were currently in high school....Just that they both have a high school level of education. They look a bit older than high schoolers.
@@percyweasley9301 They're both around 20.
People will always try their best to live normal lives and to look for positive things, even in hard times. For example, there were plenty of people who got married in concentration camps.
Oh, have you read LOTR?? 😂
I have
@@whitenoisereacts damn, I would have loved to follow that discussion!😂
great video thank you
Read Dark tower series by SK, or Mistborn by BS.
PLEASE read “Six of Crows”. If you liked shadow and bone, this book will be an absolute delight
yeeeeees
since you're taking sugestions may I sugest "The Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley, it's a 4 books series telling the story of king Arthur and Camelot but told from the perspective of the women, that is the 'witch' Morgana, the queen Guinivere etc, and these two represent the whole debate in the transition from the old pagan religions to the new one (chistianity)
Should watch / read good omens
If you do get time to do another book series I would be interested to see you guys react to Percy Jackson! I think you would want to read it first and do the movie! :)
If you aren’t familiar with it, maybe you’d like to try the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series. There’s a few different versions… The books, the radio version, the TV series, the movie… If you did see the movie already, the other versions are somewhat different… Plus it’s pretty fun lol… I think they’re relatively short too.
Percy Jackson please 😅
Books first, then the movies
@@Legofeuer14 maybe pass on the movies lol also the books may be a little low level reading wise for a critical review
Have y’all read the hunger games books? If not y’all should read them they r really fun
LOTR
I would love to hear your review of the Stardust book by Neil Gaiman. It has big differences from the film, but both are good in their own way.
if y'all are still gonna continue the book reviews, i highly recommend the mistborn trilogy by brandon sanderson! also the stormlight archive. the murderbot diaries by martha wells is really good too and the books are shorter! also, a percy jackson and the olympians read would be nice. 🕺
Are you making a book review or a movie review??????
rEAD eaters of the dead BY mICHAEL cHRICHTON, THEN WATCH THE amazing films WITH aNOTNIO bANDERAS! SHOT BUT VERY GRIPPING!
Are u gonna read cursed child?😂😂😂
please read six of crows! you can skip the shadow and bones trilogy its really not good but the six of crows duopoly is absolutely amazing!!!
I would recommend Stephen King’s Dark Tower series. The first book is The Gunslinger. I recommend the expanded and revised edition.
the six of crows duology surpassed Harry Potter as my favorite book series
🤣🤣🥰
Please read Percy Jackson
5 sec xD
