I think the inconsistency is due to the laser not being focused on the height of the coaster. It’s focused on the height of the jig.
Recommend loosening the jig and moving it so that one of the coasters are in the middle and then you focus the laser on the coaster itself. I think that would fix your inconsistencies. Awesome video!

I did coasters with no jigs and with the jig and the results are the same and the weird thing is that change from one corner to another even if I take the time to measure all 4 coasters and ensure they are at the same height because I did that too to make sure I'm not being unfair on my testing.

The top ones almost looked like a different coaster so maybe variation in slate?

@@shrimpinpat I tested with over 40 coasters but the results are always like this. Not sure why

Thank you! How do you clean up your slate coasters? Do you prepare them before you engrave? Don’t put anything in them after you engrave them?

Thank you for the videos you shoot and share. Regarding this unevenness I'm wondering if the reason could be the slates thickness inconsistency?

I wonder that myself and I measured the slates and make sure there are consistent with a margin of 0.2 to 0.3 mm nothing that big to create that amount of variable results. I attribute the problem to a focal distance from.rhe center to the corners and a poor firmware.
