First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. She entered and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity. Now 16 years old, living in Los Angeles, and is signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. Her family and Republic Records have agreed not to heavily promote her just yet so she can live as normal of a life as possible and finish her schooling. She is working on a new album of original music which will be coming out next year. She recently returned back from Norway. She had a couple of sold out concerts she did and she will travel to Japan as well. Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a shoeless homeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. I've listened to and performed music since I was a kid, but I've never had any other artist touch me like Angelina does. I think Angelina is the singer's singer. By that I mean that she employs so many different techniques, dynamics and ornaments in her performances that you would need to know a bit about singing to appreciate it. Angelina always does it so tasteful too, never overcooked. As you hear more of her you'll find that she adapts her style to the message and style of each song she does. From the top of my head, she's done Jazz (she's the QUEEN of jazz!), blues, soul, country, folk, RDM, pop, rhytm'n'blues, and even a smidge of rap. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Then the guitar comes in. She got Heidi Klum's golden buzzer sending her straight to the finals where she blew us all away again with Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road." She didn't win, but that was actually good. She accomplished what was needed by the 3 performances. Since you are new to Angelina, lots of the fans will fill you in on things like why she sings barefoot. She's 16 yo this year 2022, and it has been an exciting year for her. She dropped "Mercy" by singing it in the movie, "The Hating Game." If you listen to that, she has done ALL the vocal parts in it, including the rap segment. She dropped several covers in music videos, including Elvis and Whitney Houston. She returned to Norway for live concerts---the first since Covid shut everything down. You're going to get a lot of info thrown at you. I recommend you write it down and try to organize it a bit. Don't do a reaction on this year's concert performances without following a recommendation for videos of the best sound quality. Don't just hunt for one and go for it. The reason why Simon, you, and millions of others had never heard that song in that version before is because it was a completely stripped down re-arrangement by Angelina herself. She's been doing her own arrangements since age seven! A true prodigy! Queen tweeted the following day on how impressed they were with it, and they gave her the copyright permission for it! The story is that while living in the Middle East, at age 6, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Why Angelina always performs barefoot♥👣 At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. The President of Republic Records gave her what she wanted and signed her personally. So far, it looks like they have stuck to their agreement. Many of her recent covers are from the Republic Records studio in LA. Rob Christie runs that studio and is who you will see playing the piano for her on all her new covers and her new originals. This one is Screamin Jay Hawkins' 1956 jazz classic, "I Put a Spell on You". Angelina's black & white studio performance has been called a masterpiece cover of Jay's song. I've listened to and performed music since I was a kid, but I've never had any other artist touch me like Angelina does. I think Angelina is the singer's singer. By that I mean that she employs so many different techniques, dynamics and ornaments in her performances that you would need to know a bit about singing to appreciate it. Angelina always does it so tasteful too, never overcooked. As you hear more of her you'll find that she adapts her style to the message and style of each song she does. From the top of my head, she's done Jazz (she's the QUEEN of jazz!), blues, soul, country, folk, RDM, pop, rhytm'n'blues, and even a smidge of rap.

AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob has been working with AJ from the very 1st day Republic signed her at age 14. @@shotbyreggie No, but that was expected as her and her family did not want her tied with a contract with Simon & company. She however got the exposure needed in the US to catapult her career. She was signed to Republic Records in August 2020 and they are going slow with her. She needed the time to continue going to school and the freedom to hone her craft as she saw fit. You've done it now. You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (150+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Michael Jackson to Etta James to James Brown to Amy Winehouse to the Beatles (and many others in between) and do them all justice!
If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. She is equally comfortable and equally able to impact us whether singing a cappella, accompanied only by a piano or guitar, in front of professional studio musicians or a 40-piece military band. With her immense vocal toolkit, arranging ability (yeah, that too, since about 8yo or so) and the work ethic to make what she does only 'seem' effortless, she will hopefully be touching hearts for a long time to come. Hello, Reggie. Yes, she does this cover justice--Queen thought so, also. Angelina wrote this arrangement, and she starts a cappella (without instruments) on pitch, perfect pitch. Then the guitar comes in. She got Heidi Klum's golden buzzer sending her straight to the finals where she blew us all away again with Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road." She didn't win, but that was actually good. She accomplished what was needed by the 3 performances. Since you are new to Angelina, lots of the fans will fill you in on things like why she sings barefoot. She's 16 yo this year 2022, and it has been an exciting year for her. She dropped "Mercy" by singing it in the movie, "The Hating Game." If you listen to that, she has done ALL the vocal parts in it, including the rap segment. She dropped several covers in music videos, including Elvis and Whitney Houston. She returned to Norway for live concerts---the first since Covid shut everything down. You're going to get a lot of info thrown at you. I recommend you write it down and try to organize it a bit. Don't do a reaction on this year's concert performances without following a recommendation for videos of the best sound quality. Don't just hunt for one and go for it. Follow recommendations from people like Andy Schnell and RustyShackleford. I just read the responses---yes the recommendation to see her B&W video of her performing her arrangement of Screaming Jay Hawkins 1956 original, "I Put A Spell On You," is an excellent recommendation. She's 9 years old in that video and it is two years after Norway's Got Talent at ages 7/8. You have run across an exceptional talent here and there are a couple of trolls who follow reactions to her. The reason why Simon, you, and millions of others had never heard that song in that version before is because it was a completely stripped down re-arrangement by Angelina herself. She's been doing her own arrangements since age seven! A true prodigy! Queen tweeted the following day on how impressed they were with it, and they gave her the copyright permission for it! You should look up her recent performance of Bohemian Rhapsody (age 16) which she did this past August in her homeland of Norway. Stunning!

Why does Angelina sing barefooted? Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz", amongst many other names. She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio performance.
The story is that while living in the Middle East, at age 6, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside so she offered her own shoes to the girl.
Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them.
Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true you, have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.”
Later that day, 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.”
From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway.
Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need.

Angelina won Norway's Got Talent when she was 8 yrs old after starting the competition at 7 yrs old. The youngest winner of any Got Talent show on the planet. She had to wait two years because you had to be 7 yrs old to enter. She started with a rendition of Billie Holiday's 'Gloomy Sunday' which she just infused with Billie's soul. She followed this by another Billie classic with a pitch perfect rendition of 'I'm a Fool to Want You' acapella. She started studying all the greats of Jazz soon after under the guidance of her Iranian Grandmother Mery Zamani a child prodigy in her own right as an artist and poet. English is Angelina's 3rs language behind Norwegian and Farsi along with japanese and some German and perhaps more. Angelina finally signed with Republic Records a couple of years ago and has since released her 1st two original performances with 'Million Miles' and '7th Heaven' released at 14 & 15 respectively. The family waited till she had contractual control of her Artistic Vision. Republic has labeled her their Highest Priority and assigned a team to her including Rob Christy a multiple Grammy Winner, often on the piano in many of her performances and a whole team of equally qualified professionals. Why Angelina always performs barefoot♥👣
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. 'Between Two Hearts'

In addition to school she got also vocal training at the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program (I read, that this school said, they couldn't teach her more stuff because she has all learned what she could learn in this school ;-) ) - and btw. she plays also grand piano, violin, flute and guitar, make her arrangements herself, wrote a book, sew clothes for herself (partly with art from her grandma like in her first AGT performance and in her music video "Shield").
So, she is a real all-rounder and I think all her fans are eager to see and hear what she is doing next...

At the beginning you see her something writing on a sheet and a man reading it and smiles than.. in an interview this man, who was the "bandleader", said, this were some "wishes" from Angelina (she was every time very polite he said) for changes of her arrangement for the piano :)))
The candle you can see at about 0:12 shows a portrait of J. Hawkins - I think her grandma bought it at a concert in Tokyo ;)
At 0:26 you can see the bassist smiling - I can imagine that he smiles about the expectable reactions of the listeners in the moment, when Angelina starts to sing at 0:30 ;-)
Btw. I read somewhere that her grandma was in person at a concert of SJH in Japan (as she, AJs mother and uncle lived there some years - AJs grandpa is Japanese) and there AJs grandma bought this candle as a souvenir ;)

@@shotbyreggie As per the parents and AGT it was decided to bury her at 5th place. Because Angie had better plans and didn't want any hassles being signed to AGT. And she scored with Republic Records, she's still just 16 so they haven't made any big moves, yet.

Heidi gave her the golden buzzer not on this video . she didn't win . this was AGT CHAMPIONS no public vote 50 so called superfans voted a gymnastics act the winners .ANGELINA always performs barefoot . to remind herself of the less fortunate with no parents, clothes, shoes.after meeting a poor homeless girl in the middle East who was barefoot with scars on her feet she was weighing people with bathroom scales to earn some money, ANGELINA took off her shoes and gave them to the poor girl , ANGELINA was aged 6 and the poor girl about the same.ever since ANGELINA has performed barefoot even when performing for ex president Obama.

@@shotbyreggie AGT contracts are notoriously demanding. She turned down everyone from AGT to Disney because she insists on making her music, her way at her pace. The President of Republic Records gave her what she wanted and signed her personally. So far, it looks like they have stuck to their agreement. Many of her recent covers are from the Republic Records studio in LA. Rob Christie runs that studio and is who you will see playing the piano for her on all her new covers and her new originals. She has a ton of music on two TH-cam channels + fan recordings. Enjoy them. She is the most talented raw vocalist of our lifetime and she is just barely getting started.
