Alice Russell is amazing! Love her album "To Dust"! I'm trying real hard not to compare her heartbreaking, soulful voice to anyone else... but yeah, like a previous comment, there is a little bit of Anouk.
She needs better, tighter, catchy pop songs. For instance the first song (or actually, all the songs here)...isn't that great. Her best album is still My Favorite Things, which in addition to her great voice also had great pop tunes. Also, it seems "white soul singers" (hyperbole) don't really get much mainstream hype. Adele is the exception I suppose (although I wouldn't call her a "soul singer" at all). I also think her best work has been done with collaborators, like the albums by Quantic or Mr. Scruff etc.
