I think the design is really good, one thing I would change though is maybe a double airtight door as an airlock before entering the main bunker section just so when you do open the one airtight door, you’re not contaminating the rest of the bunker
Also don't like the idea of being safely locked away in the bunker with my utilities on the other side of the entrance where I can't get to them if there was any kind if incident.
My hubby and I love watching you videos right from the beginning to the end. Wish we could afford one but hubby is a disabled wheelchair bound Veteran. He could never get in or out of one. But still fun to watch and dream 😊

Have you ever thought about installing impressed current or even a sacrificial anode to protect the galvanized metal from rusting? You should a Perma-Cell and a volt meter to measure the potential between the soil and the bunker. You will be surprised with the current reading. I am curious because I use to work for a company and for pipelines and UST's. One other thing is, any rock and acidic soil conditions will cause a HOLLIDAY in the steel over time. Just things I dealt with over a 24 year time span. I have seen some 1/4" tanks develop a holidays in several locations on the lower third of the vessel. Just curious of the research?? You guys are good. That is a place I would sell my house for and just live permanently. I’m seriously thinking about this. Quality craftsmanship gentlemen!
How does that $150k stack up to something similar in ICF with concrete roof and floor? BTW, you should add some round tubing going down either side of the stairs for hand rails and you then you could put a cart on it with wheels made to roll down the tubing to make it easier to get supplies down with a winch system. could be offered as an upsell.

An idea, how about some kind of dumbwaiter lift that attaches to the rails of the steps. it would make real easy to bring down all the supplies to be stocked; a real time/back saver for the customer .
Stairs seems better to me than a ladder, what if someone if hurt or old, idk. Plus I bet its nice a cold down there for sure even in a warm place like my home in Arizona.
I thought the bed right next to the actual ladder/door outside was a bad idea, but then i thought about it, its actually the perfect place, you will always be laying there with your shotgun aiming at the front door!

Thanks for the great video Ron. You clearly take pride in your work. Great to see you weld everything so its water tight. Great use of the generator to pull fresh air from one end of the bunker to the other, then via a sealed pipe to the generator intake. Sloped intake so air runs uphill and condensation out is genius. Nice cabinets and flooring, good storage, and a swiss filtration system! AWESOME!
You could always bury an RV. Put in a septic tank and fresh water tank. Dig out of an area about 40 ft square.go deep enough to have 3 ft of dirt on top. Build a dirt ramp and just back the RV down into it. Then build around it. Put in vents . The extra space outside the RV could be for storage and even a outside sitting area. You could lite it up with led bulbs. You could build a concrete bunker around it. Just an idea.
i always think that i would want a secondary entrance/ exit, away from the house and pretty well hidden, because what if a tornado or bomb knocks the house on top of the only way out??? yes people would search for survivors and clean up, but what if it’s worst case scenario and it was a bomb and nobody will be cleaning up rubble for a long time? maybe ever

One thing you dont show yet is how the whole septic system works like how the water comes in to run the sink, toilet, and shower and then where does all that grey water go.
Nice build. Just a tip to save time the next time: angular stone does not need to be compacted.. Running a plate packer over it achieves nothing. Crushed gravel would need to be packed down every 6 inches but the angular "clear" stones lock into each other when they are laid down. You will notice when the plate packer is run over it there is no noticeable difference in the surface of the stone behind him compared to the stone in front of him. The jumping jack will pack down the soil beneath slightly, but after the first few inches there is no need.

Galvanized culverts last a very long time without water flowing through them. Buried PVC also lasts a long time not exposed to the elements. I replaced the metal water supply line to my home well over 30 years ago with no problem so far with it yet.

Compacting 7/8" crushed? Not gonna happen. Use 5/8" minus Water it down and it way tighter than 7/8" crushed. Better yet use sand, zero voids.
Mike M sand never stays compacted when it’s wet that’s why crush is better it drains and stays tight
