because a lot of people just watch fantanos reviews and leave some stupid stereotypical meme comment thats already been posted a 100 times and don't even check out the music lol its kinda sad tbh
This album is incredible. Can't stop listening. Super cinematic, super poignant and thought provoking. Love all of KA's music. His art and poetry are some of the best out there.
The thing I hate about Fantano is how he downplays not only Ka, but also Roc Marciano and Mach Hommy. These are three of the best lyricists EVER and just because he doesn’t understand a lot of the songs or themes he dismisses them
If DOOM was like twenty years older I swear he'd just be Ka. He's got this super laid back flow but it's full of complex internal rhyme schemes and sharp turns of words that would definitely have fit on something from MF's great middle period.
I agree about the laid back nature of their raps, and the indifference they bring. But i feel DOOM is more playful and "silly" with his lyrics and rhymes. RIP DOOM
I gotta say with all sincerity, thank you for reviewing this album. I appreciate that despite the shitstorm of J Cole fans saying “this isn’t Bas waaahhhh”, you actually reviewed the album you wanted to (and by a very talented artist, as well)
He's screwing with our tendencies to obsess over the specific values in a system that arbitrarily forces works of art that really cant even be compared into the same metric
Ezequiel Renovato In just about every single review he does, he puts the higher number on the screen and in the description box, but for whatever reason he decided to do Ka dirty on this one.
One of the main reason that I always listen to KA is because every song in all his albums is like listening to a father figure passing down some knowledge and to me that’s something no other rapper imo can do better. This album is definitely is going into my classic bin along with his other albums
So glad you enjoyed this a lot! Love this record. As someone who has loved Ka, it's nice to see him be quite dynamic as well on this record! Hope your day goes well Melon :)
I love the album probably as much as Fantano does, but I don't think I'll ever understand thinking of Dr. Yen Lo as underwhelming. It is still one of my favourites of his, and probably beats his 1200 BC EP, Iron Works (which is his least interesting imo), Grief Pedigree and probably is roughly on par with Honor Killed the Samurai and the Night's Gambit. The instrumentals on Yen Lo are just so rough. Day 3, Day 777 and Day 1125 are absolutely fucking godly.
I've been following this channel and supporting since your review of 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Trying back in 2003, Anthony. If we don't get a face reveal soon, I will have The Fader shut down this channel.
a friend sent me a song on this album a few weeks ago and argo has been my top played ever since. might be one of my favorite songs i’ve ever heard. so glad i can watch this now i haven’t even clicked play I just wanted to say this first
orpheus is a person from greek mythology . I guess if you're an idiot the first thing you'd think of when you think "Orpheus" is Hannibal Burress but thats not what it was .Also the hannibal thing was morpheus not orpheus.
Great review. Not quite perfect, but as a conceptual album, it's top notch. Love Ka's music. Now you mentioned Roc Marci, but I don't think you have reviewed him before. Is it because they have a somewhat similar style/flow? Or maybe because his subject matter doesn't quite interest you like Ka's tales do? Either way, great vid.
Ka and DOOM are two sides of the same coin. While DOOM (preferably his Viktor Vaughan persona) is a kooky-esque villain, Ka is a more subdued, hard-boiled grimy brute. Better analogy: where as DOOM is a Marvel comic, Ka is Sin City. Love them both.
Just watched your yodel boy video from a few months back and hearing you talk of old country made me instantly think of the new country band Midland. Please give a review for their album On the Rocks. It is real country!
he just died. rip one of the best to ever do this sound ❤
a legend, grateful im getting to do a presentation on this album; illustrating the parallels between his lyrics and greek mythology
RIP
mfw this review has more views than the album has listens.
Filippo It really sucks since this album is so dope
because a lot of people just watch fantanos reviews and leave some stupid stereotypical meme comment thats already been posted a 100 times and don't even check out the music lol its kinda sad tbh

@Onouphrios it was true at the time

ism519 100 percent 🔥💯
Goodness gracious. That's quite the stack of buzz words. Granted, and to be fair, I 100% agree with you
RIP Ka, legendary
Nothing Ka makes is underwhelming. Son is a genius.
The thing I hate about Fantano is how he downplays not only Ka, but also Roc Marciano and Mach Hommy. These are three of the best lyricists EVER and just because he doesn’t understand a lot of the songs or themes he dismisses them
i thought my man on the album cover was thicc but i realized its just his shield lmao
lmao same here like damn that's a big BAWTY... oh wait
Orpheus sure was known for having a shield around
Me too my guy
Not a shield, it’s his clothing hanging down.
Lmao just noticed
Morpheus, Dorpheus, Orpheus
Go eat some walruses
Orifices, Porridges
Morpheus, Morpheus
What MF Doom verse is this
I was looking for this comment

Ka is amazing. So dark yet comforting. I love this guy.

Feeling a decent to strong 11 on this album
If DOOM was like twenty years older I swear he'd just be Ka. He's got this super laid back flow but it's full of complex internal rhyme schemes and sharp turns of words that would definitely have fit on something from MF's great middle period.
rest in peace DOOM
RIP DOOM

damn this just feels crazy to say but rest in peace DOOM & rest in peace Ka
ka sounds like a samurai champloo character
maraz ali
Samurai champloo is online

Nailed it.
W because you know what Samurai Champloo is
Yea that's a W
Samurai Champloo is the shit...good ass music from Nujabes and that other dude I'm forgetting
Probably Ka’s best album. A true classic that will only get better with age
Ka is a wordsmith. Some of the best writing ever
DIDNT EXPECT YOU TO REVIEW THIS ALBUM BUT THANK YOU
Also thats Earl Sweatshirts favourite raps group
we made it through, we made it through, we made it throughhh
Ka crazy, 🔥 will you ever talk about zac flewids music?
lol way too underground, he's nice tho
Lemme work or make me cry by Zac‼️
Punishment of a Sisyphus is is one of the greatest songs I’ve heard
I gotta say with all sincerity, thank you for reviewing this album. I appreciate that despite the shitstorm of J Cole fans saying “this isn’t Bas waaahhhh”, you actually reviewed the album you wanted to (and by a very talented artist, as well)
Easily one of my favorite Hip-Hop/Rap albums of the year. KA and ANiMOSS did such an incredible job!
Rip one of the greatest
RIP Ka
Melon and DEHH keep giving Ka his dues. Good shit.
Ka is folk music in a hip hop form! Totally unique flavour and u don’t always miss the kicks and snares
definitely get a folk vibe from Ka
I too enjoy Ka's ancient Greek DnD roleplay session.
-says he feels a strong 8 to a *light 9*
-puts 8 on the screen
-puts 8 in the description box
Wdym, the score on the screen obviously shows STRONG 8
He's screwing with our tendencies to obsess over the specific values in a system that arbitrarily forces works of art that really cant even be compared into the same metric
Will Mael But he said he's feeling a strong 8 to a light 9, which is what I meant
wouldn't it make sense to put 8 since the 8 is strong, and not the 9 cause the 9 is light?
Ezequiel Renovato In just about every single review he does, he puts the higher number on the screen and in the description box, but for whatever reason he decided to do Ka dirty on this one.
This is why I like being a fan of the Needle Drop, I’m excited to listen to this album now tomorrow. Sounds like it will be really cool and different
This album is so good, the transitions are so smooth I could barely tell when the songs changed
Fantano, stop asking my father for an invite to the cookout
He just wants some barbecue my man
Glad you reviewed this, this project def deserve more exposure
Anthony compares him to king push. I'm sold
Coming back here to say Fantano shortchanged this one, man. It's a classic. At least a 9/10.
One of the main reason that I always listen to KA is because every song in all his albums is like listening to a father figure passing down some knowledge and to me that’s something no other rapper imo can do better. This album is definitely is going into my classic bin along with his other albums
Imo Dr Yen Lo is a lowkey classic
Hayden Eden I think so as well bro..
100%
Hell yeah, I love that record.
i’m about to listen to it rn since i always hear how underrated it is
Ka deserves a lot more shine. I have faith in him above almost anyone in the rap game right now.
Ka needs to blow up so he can justify a small venue tour. I need to meet the man behind that pen.
Jaxiel Rivera I agree
I D I O S Y N C R A T I C

REVIEW IT AGAIN GODDAMNIT
in utter love with this project
This has become one of my favorite hip hop albums of all time, definitely reminds me of my high school years
So glad you enjoyed this a lot! Love this record. As someone who has loved Ka, it's nice to see him be quite dynamic as well on this record! Hope your day goes well Melon :)
no-one in rap apart from Ka can say so much with so few words. Truly a gifted writer.
Aesop rock?
@@leonthethird7494aesop rock is the complete opposite lol he's verbose as hell
This album is easily a strong 9

Isn’t Orpheus that thing Hannibal Buress was rapping about on The Eric Andre Show?
orpheus is a person from greek mythology . I guess if you're an idiot the first thing you'd think of when you think "Orpheus" is Hannibal Burress but thats not what it was .Also the hannibal thing was morpheus not orpheus.
I can't tell if you're being ironic or not and it scares me.
The beats are insane
Good to see you review this one and give it such a high rating. I definitely agree with you!
It’s cool to see Ka making his “ A Special Episode Of” in terms of making an underground rap project that’s accessible outside the underground.
Thanks you man, this is amazing!
Been waiting for this review

Review: Roc Marciano - RR2 and Knowledge the Pirate - Flintlock and also Willie the Kid.
Probably the best hiphop album of the year?
I feel like every time Anthony talks about Ka and it’s a positive review it feels bitter sweet.
MAN ANTHONY HOW HAVEN'T YOU REVIEWED ROC MARCI
Just watched your yodel boy video from a few months back and hearing you talk of old country made me instantly think of the new country band Midland. Please give a review for their album On the Rocks. It is real country!
Excellent Review. Idionsynchratic is the best description of Ka's style I've ever heard
Ive been really trying to get into Ka the last couple releases so I hope this allows me to make the leap thanks Melon 👍
uhh yen lo was amazing ya weirdo
I can't believe it, another 10!
This is the prog rock of rap and I like it
T.C. Bramblett great comparison broski..
Listening to this right now and it's great, thanks melon
I was expecting this to be an emo album that was recorded in a cabin in northern Maine.
Fantano wearing that Golden Fleece
This album is a 10. There is absolutely nothing I can hold against anything here, production or lyricism. Wow.
Yellowthany flannelo review the new Oh Sees already.
Oh sees has a new album?! What's it called?
@@arctic_phoenix9936 smote reverser their best one since mutilator imo
Yeah if you thought Orc was crazy, Smote Reverser is out of this world.
Good lyric review, how was the album?
Waiting for Rainier Fog review!
I came expecting you would love this too. You did not disappoint. :)
Nathan for you is my favorite show of all time I was just watching it yesterday thank you bald boi
I liked the Nathan Fielder shoutout intro, Anthony.
The album art reminds me of Deathconsciousness and honestly that’s enough of a reason for me to listen to it.
This is my needledrop's first video i watched ... so nostalgic
I've never seen comedic lyrics played for dramatic effect and work so well
There's a sample of "la bataille du sucre" from the french prog band Ange on the title Atlas.
such a great album.
This is FIRE!!!!! Listening to this now!!!
i just discovered this album today and i it's my fav album thus far
RIP Brownsville Ka 🙏
great year, plenty of 8+ in rap this year.
Would love to see a ka earl feature hahaha
I loved this album because Ka took the story of Orpheus as a template to create his own mythology
been waiting for oh sees forevvvvvvveer
Oh sees?
Hidden Planet Productions still waiting
On a serious note this a great fucking album. Listen to it please, goddamn. Melon did not do it justice.
Better than most hip hop albums this year. Also check out Lupe Fiasco's Drogas Wave
