Hi Jeff, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're right, they did not sell well since they have very little practicality....and that is why I love it :-) You're welcome, Lou
When i was a kid ( 1970s) there was a yellow one just like this used to run around in my local area. I used to see it most often when mom and dad would take us to Hills Dept Store. It would cruise around in the parking lot on the towns cruise route.
Lou, you know from my comment on the other one, that I never liked the design of these cars. I do, however, appreciate the ingenuity of the design. And I remember when NASCAR banned the use of them, when the other manufacturers cried about not being able to compete.
The Superbird is Super Cool! I remember when I was in the service, it was around 1980, and I was stationed at Tinker AFB, there was one of these about 10 miles from the base just sitting in a field in decent shape and the guy wanted $1,500 for it. I was just 18 and it was too much money for me at that time. I ended up finding a 68 Road Runner and it was also $1500 , but the owner let me pay him $100 a month until it was paid for! Being 18 at that time , what little money I made went to the car, and gas money! Great times! Thanks Lou!
Hi kirb, "The Superbird is Super Cool!" I agree. Happy to read this car brings back memories of the car you remember sitting in the field :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
It's another great car and visit with Mr. Lehuede! You will certainly get noticed in this one, and rightfully so. We should never give up on our dreams or our heroes, and this '70 Superbird is both. Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, Happy to share Mr. Lehuede's cars with you :-) "You will certainly get noticed in this one" I agree. '"We should never give up on our dreams or our heroes, and this '70 Superbird is both." Well said. You're welcome, Lou
In the early 1970s, a 20 year old guy in my suburban neighborhood owned one of these Superbirds. You could not miss seeing it, as his house was on a prominent corner lot with the driveway sloping up to the house from the corner, and with no garage, it was always parked outside. My friends and I were all from 12 to 14 years old, and we snickered at the big wing. Eventually I came to understand that the 440 hi-po motor was a badass that would soon disappear, and the owner's wisdom in owning it was clear. I don't know how long the guy kept it, but hopefully he still has it or cashed in on it when prices skyrocketed.
Lou, you truly have a great life of driving in some of the greatest muscle cars ever built! Keep up the good work of bringing these cars to us with great videos and fantastic owner stories! Lovin' it!
Hey Lou! My fav car of all time - the Plymouth Superbird! I love it Limelight Green - but still sooooooo cool!!!!! Love this! Oh, and the horn goes beep beep!
Chris is one special Mopar man, and has some great stories for all his cars. Great series, Lou, it's been a minute since we had one of his cars on the channel. Thanks!
I always hate misinformation by people that own cars like this the street version never went over 200 miles an hour it was the NASCAR version that was the one that went over 200 miles an hour
This was not a beautiful car, even though this one is my favourite colour. The proportions were all off. It was too cartoonish. They could have made it nicer with some effort.
Hi danmar007, This is one of those cars people love or hate. Clearly this one is not for you :-( Hope you see many more cars on this TH-cam Channel you'll enjoy :-) Lou
Hi, If you like this video, please click on SUPER THANKS ❤ with the $ in the middle which is the SUPER THANKS button under the video. Thank you! Lou
Beautiful Superbird. It’s still wild to me that these were not popular at the time and were generally a tough sell.
Thanks Lou!

You're kidding right? You're a standup comedian? :-)

Clearly this one is not for you :-( Hope you see many more cars on this TH-cam Channel you'll enjoy :-) Lou
I like the "under the hood", no bling bling

Nice one
:-)
and a Jetta go whizzing by it like it was sitting still lol
...that Jetta must be Jettin
'How does it not flip over from the wind, with that thing on the back?' (My wife 😁)
Well that thing on the back actually helps it not to flip over (good question).
I was just curious upon seeing this car! Did Chrysler make any winged warriors with a convertible top?
No convertibles of the 1969 Daytona or the 1970 Superbird were produced from Chrysler.
@loucostabile , that would've been sweet. The early NASCAR racers used some convertibles.
I always hate misinformation by people that own cars like this the street version never went over 200 miles an hour it was the NASCAR version that was the one that went over 200 miles an hour
You mean like this one? th-cam.com/video/9vqEWjWWxcA/w-d-xo.html
@ that's the one Lou
Back when car designers actually designed instead of seeing miles of jelly beans on the roads
You're right :-)
Such a shame about those tires.
You mean how they're going to get fried from spinning on the pavement? :-)
Is this an unrestored car?
Hmmm, I did not ask, however sure looks showroom new.
