I was hoping this video would answer a question Ive been wondering about for some time, I drive a Kia Niro self charging Hybrid and want to know if the brake lights come on when using regenerative braking and if so, at what stage, 1, 2 or 3?

I can see my brake light come on when the car is in cruise control mode and it's following a car that slows.

I've been driving a new 1600 hybrid petrol and the mpg is lousy!

I'm sorry but stating that regenerative braking improves range is just marketing talk targeted at people who don't understand the technology. it's off course factually true but it's only half the story.
The fact is that you can only regenerate about 65% of the energy already used from the battery to bring the car up to speed and that means you will go longer on a charge if you drive in a smooth and planning-ahead way so you don't have to use regeneration. I drive my Ioniq with zero regneration and get 9+ km/kWh in the summer and NO EV's out there is more efficient than that.
