Wow, that was really well done! I would assume players in PVE would be able to play their existing favorite PVP heroes in PVE. And that someone not playing as a player would have to operate the E part? I guess we'll see.
I think that you would almost have to have a player operating the "enemy" deck, as the order i. Which you play the cards from your hand can effect their power/abilities drastically in FAB (fusing, go again, etc). In alot of games, you could simply flip the cards off of the enemies deck and face them in that order, but the mechanisms in FAB trigger largely off which order you play cards from hand. That being said, it would certainly work to have the enemy player controlled, kind of like a dungeon master in D+D controlling the various enemies you encounter.
This is really impressive for a fan made expansion/format. The concept of a map is certainly a big step towards fleshing out the world, and I feel like it's necessary in order to properly execute and player vs environment format (you need the environment after all), and gives a bit of a throwback to the middle earth CCG. I think the most difficult part design wise would be balancing/scaling the power level to match the number of players, as a five player game would be much stronger against the environment than a two player game. Great concept, and beautifully executed. Fantastic job Crow!
Thank you so much. These flaws in power scale were intended to a certain degree. Right now we have no 2 young heroes that can beat the dungeon (3 is still hard depending on hero choices and 4 makes it a lot more simple) but that can change as the game grows and more cards are available. That way you can revisit the adventure in the future and see how broken the new Duskblade and young Starvo are.
@Redzonerogue, you should play this on stream, it would be really interesting to see this fan made set in action, and would also promote all the hard work that went into it.
TekloCrow is actually like the nicest guy in FAB. My friends and I have played many times with him and it’s always a joy. He gave us a PVE deck to play with as well so we’re excited to try it out
The guy that made this is named Anderson. He plays at my local store. He is from Brazil, which is why some of the wording is weird. He is fixing those issues and is debating on making a couple of these to sell if there seems to be interest. Which I think there is. How, when, and where has yet to be determined. Looking for a printer to get costs down as I type this. As for the game, each player uses their own CC deck. The game is run by a player much like a DM. He narrates the rooms as you enter, and operates the enemy decks. The map is made to be able to randomly be laid out so no game is the same.
I've played FaB since before it hit the shelves in most parts of the world (I'm from Australia). I loved it, and have a tonne of Season 1 stuff but I'm a busy guy who works weird hours so really only play co-op/solo games alone. If this is soloable, I might just return because the game system is great-I just hate the collectability and the fact it requires another player all the time so instead got into Lord of the Rings LCG. I actually suggested a solo mode back at the beginning, thinking it'd not only keep people like me invested and buying content, but also allow the super-competitive players a fun way to test their decks before tournaments. Never thought they'd take it on board but then the pandemic hit and I think they now see how they can lock-down-proof the game. Anyway, I'm excited
I'm very excited to see what LSS has in store for PVE, I think the cooperative experience will really be the ideal casual way to play a TCG. Having made my own PVE (which is simply single boss battles) I can only imagine what goes into making a full campaign.
I would hope they would encourage, or at least make space for player driven content for PVE. It would keep things going in between releases, and is their best bet of keeping it fresh, since replayabilaty (depending on how they design it) could be an issue.
I think (and I could be wrong) it looks like AI generated art on the cards. Which I think is a really neat way to make homebrew stuff like this. I really hope it'll be something like this! Where you buy packs for campaigns and so there is unique decks and such for PvE enemies. Like for it to be true PvE, maybe Slay the Spire/Vault of the Void like enemies where you can randomise your encounters, but the enemies have fixed patterns or do something depending on like dice rolls? Or maybe you have an enemy deck that they top deck off of to do things. Even with the official PvE, I'm excited to see where the homebrew scene for this goes.
You're completely correct. It's AI generated art, having a true artist making them would be awesome, but also out of budget. There are other PVE modules out there that use this randomized system and a self-driven enemy, in this version I designed everything considering that someone would be playing as the dungeon master.
A guide for playing the game can be found here: tinyurl.com/theratheadventures If you just want to see the pdf file for the cards: tinyurl.com/justthecards Thanks for checking it out :)
I hope there's a single player way to play it. I've wanted that from a TCG since the 90s. I'm alone bored more than I'm not so I like playing single player board games, or just multiplayer ones by myself
awesome channel mate! new kid in the block and fab's fan here. in regards of PvE: Just Wondering if FaB's PvE will consider Solo mode too... Thoughts? Big fan of Ashes Reborn Red Rains coop-solo mode and would be great to see sth similar with Bravo and Katsu!
Regarding the existence of pve in tcg.. World of Warcraft tcg has made the best pve experience in form of Dungeons and Raids. Brilliant stuff. Btw the art here is from Midjourney, an AI art generator.

Yes :) I would not include official cards because they could be considered counterfeit, but the intent is to provide a good core while the Villain player can customize it accordingly to the desired challenge level. Adnar has access to Shadow and Wizard cards, and with no banlist for PVE there are some lines of play that can oneshot some adventurers on turn 1.
