I could see DCE being a coach one day. Guy is one of the most articulate players ever to play the game. His mental fortitude he's copped alot of stick, especially from Queenslanders as a player and being literally dropped out of Queensland team 5 years ago. To now winning 3 out of the last 4 state of origin series as captain is phenomenal. Hats off to the bloke.

Listening to how Slater dissects the NSW and game in general is just incredibe. He really has a brilliant football brain and Gallen was on point when he said, "Slater is the ultimate professional". Also, at the end of the press, he gave credit to Josh Hannay for instilling defensive qualities in Murray and Fidow. It doesn't come as a suprise to me, as I remember in 2004-2005, Hannay and Bowman were the best defensive centres in the NRL. Coops and Gaz were the best attacking centres.

@@info88w11 I agree on the first two tries by Queensland were suspect. And the second try was a definite forward pass. But putting Cook in at the center instead of Murray or Martin, having Robson play nine the whole game instead of injecting pace with Cook, and not having a proper attacking strategy. This put a lot of pressure on Cook to deliver out on the flanks, both defensively and attack-wise. He should have kept his spot as a utility player, operating in the middle to capitalize on fatigued, slow forwards. Make breaks and pass to a supporting player or speed up the ruck and take advantage of returning players from offside positions. The flow of the ball by the Blues did not get players out of position and the backs could not make a single break all game. Fittler made such poor decisions that resulted in a loss and in the words of DJ Khaled, "Congratulations, you played yourself".

I'm expressing a view that is open to discretion but is the referee offered shares in centrebet; to award senseless penalties in favor of NSW to take the event to a decider in Game 3. Obviously the result didn't fit that narrative on this occasion; however I often wonder how Ashleigh Klein gets it so wrong, so often and when you challenge referees, The NRL fine you for submitting honesty.

Sucha stark contrast between these two and Teddy + Fittler. These two have the head smarts to take this team places. I always feel the NSW is always about whinging and taking out players. Where QLD is always thinking 2 steps ahead and ignoring all that. Everyone comes into a game physically, but its the mental pressure to absorbe it and keep on pressing on.
They have taken the game to another level and will continue too with the way that they talk off the field. People like Joey Johns and Brad Fittler, they are too immature, too focused on the aggression and on themselves.
If you listen to DCE he says "Those QLD'ers are proud of THEIR team". not us, not me, but THEIR team, they are so selfless and know that the jersey is greater than them.
