Universal Parks & Resorts, also known as Universal Studios Theme Parks or solely Universal Theme Parks, is the theme park unit of NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast. The company, headquartered in Orlando, Florida, operates Universal theme parks and resort properties worldwide. Universal Parks & Resorts is best known for attractions and lands based on famous classic and modern pop culture properties (movies, television, literature, cartoons, comics, video games, music, etc.) from NBC Universal and third-party companies for all of its parks.
It started as a touring attraction in the 1910s at the Universal Studios Lot in Universal City near Los Angeles, California, and in 1964 turned into a Universal Studios Hollywood theme park destination, where guests can look behind the scenes of motion pictures and television programs, produced by Universal Pictures and occasionally others, and ride the attraction based on the world's favorite feature films and television shows. The popularity of Universal Studios Hollywood led Universal to build parks in Florida and overseas.
In 2017, approximately 49,458,000 guests visited Universal Studios theme parks, making it the third-largest amusement park operator in the world. It is a significant competitor of Cedar Fair, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Six Flags, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, and Merlin Entertainments. In August 2020, a report released by Deutsche Bank revealed that the Universal Orlando theme park had surpassed Disney World in total attendance.
Universal Studios Hollywood became the first Universal Studios theme park when it opened its doors on July 15, 1964, long after it originated as a studio tour in 1915, after the Universal original founder, Carl Laemmle, opened Universal City, California, near Los Angeles. In May 1993, Universal CityWalk opened outside the gates of the theme park, featuring 65 entertainment-themed restaurants, nightclubs, shops, and entertainment spots. It also contains the Cinemark Universal CityWalk Cinemas, offering 19 screens, including an IMAX Theatre and stadium-style seating. Approximately 415 acres (1.7 km²) are within and around the surrounding area of Universal City, including its theme park and the film studio adjacent nearby.
Universal Orlando Resort (formerly Universal Studios Escape) opened to the public on June 7, 1990, in Orlando, Florida, starting at Universal Studios Florida. It features themed areas and attractions based on the film industry.
On May 28, 1999, Universal Orlando expanded into a vacation resort with the opening of Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park, featuring various themed islands which emphasized adventures and characters embodied in the attractions. Simultaneously, Universal CityWalk was added to accommodate the guests within the resort leading to the two parks. Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando hotel opened at Universal Orlando Resort in September 1999, followed by Hard Rock Hotel in December 2000, Loews Royal Pacific Resort in February 2001, Cabana Bay Beach Resort on March 31, 2014, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort on July 7, 2016, and Universal's Aventura Hotel on August 16, 2018.

Surprised to see that a day in the park with barney is still around. I just heard that terminator 2d is shutting down for good.
Well Barney is about to be extinct as will everything else in Woody Woodpecker's KidZone (except for ET) when Nintendo makes its way!

@@hamursh yay! Mario's dropping a different dino this time! And good to know that ET's not getting killed by the world of video games for once (I know it's because Steven Spielberg threatened to end his partnership with Universal if that happens). Shame for the rest of the area. I know they're just play areas, but I have a lot of fond memories of it (I spent a lot of time at Curious George as a kid), for two reasons. First, most of the franchises there (aside from Barney) are still timeless to me. The Woody Woodpecker ride was the only attraction to be associated to Universal's main mascot. Curious George is one of the most beloved characters in children's literature. SpongeBob's store was one of the only things representing Nickelodeon Universal had left. And while I always have Illuminations and DreamWorks's backs, it does suck that less and less kids are being introduced to Dom Bluth's beloved characters, and, to me at least, the destruction of Fieval's Playland is at the heart of that. Second of all, for all it's simplicity, Universal did make the most of what little they had. The SpongeBob SquarePants store may have been the most immersive store out of both parks. I'm also curious as to where these characters are going to meet now, but I trust Universal to have that under control. I'm still very excited for Nintendo Land, and I can tell it's going more immersive than Playland. I guess I just wish we didn't have to lose animation based stuff to get this land.
