  • @assassin72

    I'm surprised you guys are going wider for wheels and tires!
    I think it looks great right now and the wheels seem to sit flush.

    • @speedacademy
      @speedacademy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +assassin72 overall offset of the new setup will only be slightly more aggressive than we have on the car now. But we want to run a DOT semi-slick and for that the best size options and compound options are in 18'' diameters, plus we want to go a touch wider on the wheel and tire for more grip. More grip, more cornering speed, or so we hope. We'll find out soon :D

    any function to those side diffusers for this 'race car'? also, why not put a lightweight battery instead of getting the tie down made for the big stock battery, you can save 20lbs on a track battery.

    • @speedacademy
      @speedacademy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +dasfurian yes, the side splitters will help prevent airflow from spilling under the car along the sides and disrupting the low pressure area beneath the car (that helps generate downforce). We haven't really done any weight reduction mods on the S2k yet, but we probably will eventually switch to a lightweight battery. But in the meantime, we have a pretty badass tie-down for the stock battery ;)

    I just ordered my Downforce fenders for the s2k from Evasive a few weeks back, they say there is a second version being released and a new mold being created because the old ones would warp. Any word on that?
    But it looks sick though, and ive heard about the Toyota weatherstripping.. really finishes it out nicely.

  • @mslevin11

    Why put flares on the back but a full wider fender on the front? Why not new fender or flares all around?

    • @speedacademy
      @speedacademy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Michael Slevin the fronts are also wider by 30mm. The rear flares are 25mm wider than stock. So we've widen the front and rear by similar amounts (and the front needs the extra width more than the rear if you want to run the same size front and rear wheels and tires like we do).

    • @mslevin11
      @mslevin11 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Speed Academy but why not use wider fenders front and back instead of wide fenders and flares? Doesn't look bad but just wondering.

    • @speedacademy
      @speedacademy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, gotcha. Just the combo of parts we liked. No other reason. We may go to a full panel wider rear eventually. We'll see how much more tire we want to fit on it.

    do the side splitters even make a difference?

    • @speedacademy
      @speedacademy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +samuel connolly yes, they help prevent airflow down the sides of the car from spilling underneath the car and disturbing the low pressure area that the front splitter is helping to generate. They are definitely an effective aero addition and work as part of the overall system of aero we're slowly developing for the car.

      +dani Siles on the wheels? No spacers at the moment. Those are 17x9 +40 Gram Lights, but we'll be switching them out for 18x9.5 +38 wheels shortly.
