Wow! This second part looks fun. I doubt my wife will like this part of the trail. We are going to do Shafer trail to Potash road at the end of the month. Maybe we can do part 1 of this trail
Always a tough question because these trails change with the seasons, erosion etc. I say try it. You can always turn around if you're not comfortable. And yes the camera doesn't really show a lot of detail. Thanks for watching.
@Chicken River Offroad. It's not very technical. The top at Hurrah Pass is a little rocky. And, a few other spots are too. There's one tippy part out towards the sandy area. But, if you're scared of heights -- like I am -- it will be a challenge to your senses! From the top until about 8:55 you'll encounter some drop-offs of 300 - 350 feet. I believe the height from the bottom plateau to the river is about 400 feet. Make the stop at Catacomb Rock caves. It's a bitch to find, though. Ask for a map at the BLM office in Moab. Because, if they "catch" you driving on non-authorized trails, they can fine you. And, it's anywhere out there. Including NPS land. The BLM has also enlisted vigilante civilians to take pictures of your vehicle and plates and report to them if you're not on designated trails. And, it almost happened to me. My girlfriend had to pee and so she walked back off the trail in a sandy area about 50 feet from the trail. After a couple of minutes, I drove back in there to pick her up. Being a nice guy. As I was sitting there, some guy pulls up in his blue Jeep with a business name on the side and motions me to drive over there. I walked about halfway to him and asked what's up. He said I couldn't be back in there and he was gonna report me and collect a reward. I bit my tongue and talked him out of it. Had he been alone, it would have turned out differently for him. As it was, he was escorting some Nat Geo photographer and trying to impress him, apparently. Be careful and have fun out there.
@@georgegrant6600 That's great information, thanks! I'm actually thinking of doing this one this coming weekend. I should be in Moab Thursday night through Monday evening.
Yes it is doable as are many of the trails in the Moab area are. Of course they change yearly with weather, erosion etc. but always fun and scenic. Thanks for watching.
Your width is pretty much the same as my Rubicon. I would be more concerned about ground clearance. You'll be fine, just watch your lines and enjoy the ride.
To access Chicken Corners trail you stay on Kane Creek Blvd also known as Kane Springs road and it eventually becomes Chicken Corners trail. Kane Creek Canyon trail branches off the main Chicken Corners trail at about 10 miles from Moab and is more difficult hence the rating. Hope this helps.
It was a Gopro Hero 4 black. I switched to a Gopro Hero 5 black for a year, it had better video but worse sound and now I'm using a Gopro Hero 6 black for the newest videos starting Saturday. It has improved video and the sound is similar to the Hero 4. Thanks for watching.
Again, great video and on to part 3. Thanks

I know you'll enjoy this ride. Thanks for watching.
Would 9-10” of ground clearance be enough? Cameras tend to flatten everything out so it’s difficult to tell what it’s really like.

Can't wait to do this one!
Awesome scenery and not too difficult . Thanks for watching.

Is this trail do-able in a stock Jeep Grand Cherokee with all terrain tires and air lift suspension ?
If the trail is in about the same condition, you should be ok. It's one of the easier trails around Moab. Watch your lines and enjoy the view.
It looks to me like this trail is doable in a stock Wrangler or not?

@@donm8011 Thank you Don for doing such a great video job .
Looks fairly narrow in some spots. How would my 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk do width-wise?
Your width is pretty much the same as my Rubicon. I would be more concerned about ground clearance. You'll be fine, just watch your lines and enjoy the ride.
I agree with Don. Ground clearance in a few places might be a problem but for the most part its not bad
Chicken corners is one of the easier trails in moab. Take it slow and scout ahead if it looks like its getting rough.
It's really nice in mid May when the whole valley floor after Hurrah pass is covered in flowers of different colors.
I agree. Its amazing how the desert comes to life in the spring time.
So, you just take Kane Creek Blvd from Moab, and it's an easy drive? Got a little confused reading the rating for Kane Creek Trail.

What kind of camera?

What was the temperature when you were there?
We got lucky on this day, 65 degrees. 2 days later it snowed, but that's Utah in February. Thanks for watching.
