It seemed like Nugget felt the need to take on the protector role. After she noticed Lulu was upset she decided she needed to stand up to him and protect her sisters. Such a sweet and Brave Nugget. ❤

lol Nugget is so offended like "How dare you bring a man into our lair!" I've never seen her that puffed up and angry though. She doesn't seem to like the new boar AT ALL. Super intense bonding session. I hope both Nugget and the new guy can work this out and get along in the end. It'd be nice to see a boar in the herd again.
I think Nugget was trying to take Gatsby's place as protector of the heard.

@@tyta1 I feel like they might not have had a proper boss in the herd after Gatsby's passing? As in, wveryone except Lumi was contending and then things got peaceful without a clear winner.

At one point the poor boy is sitting there all confused as to why he's being rejected and it melted my heart. I had a similar looking guinea pig as a kid, but he was only salt and pepper with no brown. Handsome boy.
Fitz takes one look at him and said yeah I’m good on that you guys got this, lulus screaming he’s gonna eat me, nuggets firing bites back and forth, meanwhile Lumis just trying to enjoy floor time

I do get very young guinea pig energy from him. In fact, a lot of the conflict brought to mind a little brother annoying his sisters. "MOOOOOOOM, HE WON'T STOP POKING ME! MOM, HE KEEPS FOLLOWING ME AROUND! MAKE HIM STOP!"

Loved this, so much DRAMA!!!! It made me realise how smoothly things went with Nacho - but the teeth chattering etc is all very normal and expected. Him joining them in the cage at the end was so sweet ❤❤
Awe, Lulu. I forgot how shy she can be. Lumi and Fitz were so chill! Especially, Fitz, laying down in the middle of everything. Interesting to watch Nugget throw her ninja skills around. Hope the new fella works out; he is very handsome.

This lil boy is perhaps the cutest piggy I have ever seen! I am usually most partial to aby piggies but I love all pigs of course. I loved new pig's popcorning and zoomies and throwing that lettuce! I have always loved LuLu since she was at your mom's, but she is so melodramatic! LOL Always the loudest chatterer and wheeker. She seems to have stressed everyone more because of that. hehe I love how new boy kept trying so hard to improperly mount Fitz (she seemed to be the calmest, despite). There was one part of the intro where oddly (or not), Lumi actually jumped behind new boy pig for protection against Lulu's loudness and teeth chattering! There is an "o" open mouth face that piggies make when they get nose punched, as when Nugget nose punched new boy pig and it is so adorable, even if it is an intense meaning. I also love how before Nugget was trying for her escape, Lumi kept trying to get back into the cage - I was expecting her to jump the door!

Gosh, introductions are always so terrify. So small and cute and yet guinea pigs still manage to sound threatening. I hope Nugget and the others get used to him. He's a cutie.
It appears that Nugget considers herself the Alpha female lol what a surprise. Gatsby taught Nugget well lol. Loomie appears to be 2nd alpha female and very accepting of the boar. Poor Lulu is quite vocal lol.
From the video it appears that this introduction went very well. 😊
He looks just like my Oswald (my first piggy and heart pig) who passed away in February. I’ve never seen a pig so similar to him before, his chin chub, the white around his eye and chin. He’s so beautiful, I hope you guys are able to keep him. It’s be amazing to watch Oswald grow up again ❤

There is an elementary school teacher using your vids to teach children about guineapig / animal behaviour and respect for animals/pets OR maybe there's an animal behaviour scientist using this info as part of their research. This was such an interesting vid. P.S I miss Silvester. He was such a sweet little guy. I hope the new bore works out.
Guinea pig introductions can be so stressful. My first (between two adult females) was a four-hour stressfest. I'm glad this introduction seems to have been successful!

So interesting that he comes straight out of his crate to meet them all at once. (Our guinea pigs are sisters, so no introduction was needed.) So very different from introducing cats. Speaking of cats mine were quite intrigued by your guinea pig squeaks and squeals! They kept coming over to check out my phone to see where the guinea pigs were 😉
Thank you for your channel. I adopted my first guinea pigs back in 2018, and your content helped me a ton. Yesterday I had to say goodbye to one of my original pigs, and I'd always said I'd be done with guinea pigs after these two, but I've found myself coming back for bonding tips. Hoping to go to the sanctuary for a new little friend this weekend. Your videos helped me raise my little Carmen and keep her happy and well for as long as I did.
That is awesome! I'm so sorry for your loss. They're truly special little creatures. I hope Carmen crossed the rainbow bridge peacefully and a new guinea pig finds their way into your heart! I'm always telling myself after a loss that there's a another guinea pig out there looking for their forever home and while it's heartbreaking to have lost your special piggie, this new guinea pig is waiting for their chance too. I got this statement from a rescue board and it's really helped me deal with the guilt of adopting a new pig and letting the old piggie go peacefully in my heart ❤️

After having 2 girls for 3,5 years, I was totally not used to introducing a boar into the group, neither was my girl Miso. Such sassy behavior, rumblestrutting, swiping butts, completely forgot what that was like.
I hope he and the girls get used to eachother. What a beautiful piggie he is!

Woah this was intense!! Nugget is such a strong lady, that impressed me a lot. And Lulu...her voice is her weapon 😅 she never bites the new pig, just uses her voice to protect herself. Very interesting to watch, I hope so much that it will work out with the cute little guy ❤
Nugget definitely playing her ‘boss lady’ card! She reminded me of Gatsy when you tried to introduce the overly aggressive male that didn’t work out. This one seems a lot more social though. But he most likely will want to be the boss of this herd, he is the male after all. Hopefully Nugget will come to terms with this and accept him as the new leader. He seems like a really relaxed guy. And overly cute too! ❤
IIRC when Lulu met Max or Sylvester for the first time, she REALLY fought back against them, and did NOT want to submit. I actually if it was because she never grew up around a boar, and wasn't used to having someone boss her like they do. In the end, she grumpily complied, but clearly wasn't happy about it.
Nugget could always be his “right hand gal”. I am hoping for peace, too!

Wir haben Mal Meerschweine gezüchtet und wir haben uns da keinen großen Kopf gemacht, weil wir ja öfter neue Schweine zusammen gesetzt haben. Die Zuchtschweine waren da so gut trainiert, da gab es wenig Stress. Es gab schon Mal welche die sich nicht mochten, aber da hatten wir ja dann auch mehrere Gruppen, so dass wir austauschen konnten. Sehr soziale Böcke, die aus der Zucht gingen, haben wir dann auch als Kastraten für die Damen Gruppen behalten. Das war immer so schön zu beobachten 😊 ganz anders als meine drei Senioren jetzt... 😂

Very interesting behavior of the guinea pigs - Lulu and Gatsby are rather anxious, Lumi is holding back but not shy and Nugget wants to maintain his dominance but the new guinea pig - Fitz - seems very self-confident and will probably become the new alpha animal of the herd

New Guy is so cute!!! When he stole and threw the lettuce...too funny! I've only ever had boars and only single boar/bear intros so I'm used to rumblestrutting. Poor dramatic Lulu....I just wanted to scoop her up. And Futz making herself small and just giving up. Bit Nugfet she was standing her ground. I could hear her saying "just so you know, I will NOT be sharing any pea flakes with you ever, New Guy!". Looks promising...going to watch the next update!! Hugs to all piggies and hoomins!! And my Jupiter doesn't even look when I'm playing the videos. My clueless skinny pig!!

I hope I'm not the only one who did a happy squeal when they saw this video's title. Yet hopefully it doesn't cause chaos in the herd and it all works out in the end when 5 pigs is the right dynamic plus Fitz trying to be boss was a bit concerning.
Poor little guy, he was so excited, but he has no manners at all and just annoyed everybody! Meanwhile I think Nugget is angry partly because she's now discovered that she's the leader and she did not want the post. But nobody else had the guts to put the new guy in his place.
I really do think he's young. Maybe about 8-9 months? He's got that excited puppy attitude where he jumps all over everyone. He's got no notion of proper etiquette. I honestly think Nugget made a good job of teaching him manners here, and I'm quite optimistic about how this could end up.
I'm also very impressed with Lumi's bravery, she's the only one offering him real positive interaction. He hasn't quite realised it yet, however!

Interesting to see how your piggies personalities play out in these videos. Lulu seems like she gets really loud when stressed, maybe that’s her default defense mechanism, where as Lumi is as pure as snow like her name, Fitz, being new to introductions, seems to make herself scarce, while Nugget seems to have taken on Gatsby’s role of matriarch pig/pig boss, which makes sense because I know she was close to Gatsby. All in all, relatively mellow introduction, the only intense part in my mind being when the new boar bit some fur off Nugget. Hopefully it all works out, *knock on wood*. The new boar seems very mellow like you said. And I think he’s younger than you anticipated judging by his size. I’m curious what you’ll name him, if he stays. I can usually see names for piggies pretty easily, but this one is a bit tough. Ash maybe? Dusty? Dustin? Charcoal? Cole? Grey? IDK...I’m sure you’d pick a good name that fits him, you are the best herd owner I watch on TH-cam. All the best!

The "yawning" behavior is definitely an intimidation thing among guinea pigs in this type of situation. My pigs do it when they're not getting along (they do get along 95% of the time).

He looks like clouds after a storm, mostly rolling deep grey with light dots coming through. Maybe name him Storm if he stays and all is well
"Storm" is a perfect name for him...I love it! Though, I guess I'm extra partial to it because My Agouti is my beautiful, sweet, yet VERY moody 1 year old girl...we named Stormi. ⛈️ 💙
