oh man, just when I thought the end of Vox Machina was going to be the end of my time with you guys for a while, y'all start one of my OTHER favourite animated shows
Some fun etymology for you. Vlad Dracul II is "Vlad the Dragon" in medieval Romanian, Dracula is the Slavonic genitive form of Dracul, meaning "[the son] of Dracul (or the Dragon)" but in modern Romanian "Dracul" means "the Devil." also "Țepeș" translates to "Impaler." So Vlad Țepeș Dracula III translates to "Vlad the Impaler son of the Dragon/Devil" depending on Medieval or Modern Romanian.
This is one of the best things Netflix ever gave us, along with Arcane. Season 2 is phenomenal, the peak even with the rest of the show being great as well.
Its loosely based off the Castlevania video games that 1st came out on the NES - you play as Simon Belmont or one of his descendants (on later games), a vampire hunter and try to kill Dracula. This show is based of the third game where you can play as 3 characters (who you will meet later) in your quest to stop Dracula from been resurrected-.... and Alucard is Dracula backwards This show is awesome and way better than it has any right to be
2:10 Well, "Dracula" is first and foremost a novel. And it has being bring to the big screen countless times . And yes as you say soon there will be another adaptation. Just to mention a few that you probably should definitely watch: - Dracula 1931 an absolute classic - Dracula 1958, this is the start of a classical horror saga films, bring by Hammer - Dracula by Bram Bram Stoker a movie from 1992 directec by non other than Francis Ford Coppola - Dracula Untold from 2014 not as good as the others but it is a good attempt to bring something new about the characther.
Ooo yes nice choice. Very good series. Also I think the Dracula movie you're thinking of that was released recently is "The Last Voyage of the Demeter."
in general Dracula mythos, he assumes the name 'Mr. Alucard' and assumes a human visage when interacting with humans, in the Castlevania world, the creators took this alter ego/persona of Dracula and instead manifested it into a separate person who is born of Dracula, so a slight adjustment in the general 'lore' established centuries ago by the first writers of the creature known as Dracula.
I mean to be fair, the Universal films made it ambiguous despite the title whether Count Alucard was actually Dracula`s son or Dracula himself somehow resurrected and taking an alias in rural Louisiana.
"Why did we give the Church so much power", well the Catholic Church wasn't exactly "given" power at first; it's just that Christianity was rising in the Roman Empire, and when the Roman Empire fell, well you know how quickly people fill power vacuums. The Church achieved such immense power via Christendom (the common factor among all the States and Kingdoms left in the wake of the Roman Empire). Christendom kept Europe from plunging into a long and bloody all-out war, and the Catholic Church was the mediator, but quickly became more than that.
Most video game adaptions are trash, yet somehow they managed to take a an 8-bit Nintendo game (castlevania 3 dracula's curse) and turn into a MASTERPIECE. Of course they do sprinkle in some stuff from the other Castlevania games, specifically Symphony of the Night which is generally regarded as the best game of the entire series.
It’s based on a long running video game series. The show is fantastic. It only gets better and better in my opinion. One of the seasons is kind of mid in comparison, but still great.
Fun Fact: They found evidence in the real Vlad Dracula Tepes` diaries that he did in fact cry blood as the show depicts. Didn`t actually drink it though, that was a result of propaganda by his political rivals that painted him as dipping bread in the blood of his enemies. To this day, the Romanians and Hungarians see Vlad as a misunderstood if brutal national hero for liberating Wallachia and Transylvania from the Ottoman Turks and Austro-Hungarian Boyars whilst Turks and Westerners view him in a darker light and Germans, Ukrainians, Bulgarians, Serbians, Romani and Russians have mixed opinions.
Awesome glad u guys r reacting to this amazing anime show I hope your wife love this show and can’t wait to see more of your reaction of castlevaina specially it’s a great timing cuz fall is coming in also the new season of castlevaina is coming out too
Some people like to complain about this series' portrayal of religion, but there are examples in the show of good members of the Church. I think you see one in episode 3 or 4. I don't really have an issue with it either way.
All these people clutching their pearls because You two express your disgust for the church. Meanwhile, my 70+ mexican mother with a heavy catholic education and a nun for a sister sat with me to watch some of the last seasons, so I explained to her why all this began with Dracula's wife death at the hand of the church: "and did he killed them all?... GOOD!"
Oh my God, what are they teaching you kids in school? How could you go this long without knowing the origins of Dracula? The original novel was written along time ago by Bram Stoker then a long time ago they made several movies and they keep making movies and then in the 80s they made the first video game of Transylvania which borrowed from the old Monster characters which included Dracula as the series developed it became its own, and had its own more created, which borrows from Brad Stoker‘s Dracula, but only loosely it has a lot of its own rules, and Darius to the characters, including the creation of alucard
Since when do they teach about the origins of Dracula in school lmao. But yea I guess we just can't know everything, glad to be learning about it now though!
@@RelaxwithJC I trying to be silly but back in the 80’s they did teach Dracula as part of literature in English class. Castlevania being an 80’s game is also hard to learn today since games from that era are now so archaic that only old people like me still play them. They really deserve a remake with modern graphics and sound but I would hope the gameplay would remain from the 80’s.
“You know what I hate? The church.” *mouse hovers towards unsubscribe.* “I’m sorry guys.” … well, I guess I gotta forgive you now. Lol. Great reaction guys. :)
We are both atheists. We don't hate the idea of God, our care that people Believe in God. What we don't like, is religion. And the "cult-like" mentality behind it.

It’s based on castlevania III which is a prequel to castlevania where you play as Trevor Belmont.

About that "He can't kill all humans. He needs their blood"...
In a couple of episodes that question will be answered...
This show honestly has no right going as hard as it did. AND we get Nocturne too now??
Funnily enough, there was an AU prequel game where Trevor was Alucard and his father Gabriel Belmont was Dracul, the predecessor to Dracula.

Alucard is just Dracula backwards… haha.
The first truly great video game adaptation.
I love that people are reacting to this show!!!! It is a marvel!! ('Dracula' is a fantastic read btw!)
Genuinely, you should read Dracula. Those diary entries give it legit suspense and it is a lot of fun
Came for Vox Machina, subscribed for the perfection of Castlevania

Alucard is a dhampir(Half vampire, half human) like Blade. He`s Dracula and Lisa`s son.
I'm glad we finished season 1 or this would have been a massive spoiler my dude.
@@RelaxwithJC Sorry.

Ohh hell yeah! Castlevania is so good!
Alucard is Dracula spelled backwards. Edit: ah someone said that already
Not a spoiler, but what is Dracula spelled backwards? Once you figure that out, think on that for a moment.

Ya seems like people did. It's not a huge spoiler for me I don't think but, I may stop looking at Castlevania comments until we finish the show.
