Seeing the 2 game on the screen at the same time really shows the difference in the player animations top spin looks so much more natural where in world tour looks very stiff and robotic, but most importantly the gameplay in top spin games feels so much better

Topspin 4 is one of my favorite games of ALL time. All topspin 5 needed was more gold coaches and the ability to play online doubles from separate consoles. I still play Topspin 4 on my Xbox 360. In May of 2018 the online servers were shutdown by 2K BUT the online player match still exsist and I am still there playing bad kids lol Topspin 4 will never die!
Oh okay well but after 7 years kind of understandable! Let’s wait what future tennis games will bring, hopefully we don’t have to wait another 7 years!

I think Top Spin 4 is better. The gameplay is smooth and enjoyable and I prefer the timing system of control, normal and power shots in Top Spin 4
One of the things I noticed when playing Top Spin 4 is that the clay will get into a players socks. When I was playing a career mode match at the Barcelona Open I noticed that my players white socks were red in some spots from the clay that was being kicked up from the sliding
How can you create a tennis game in 2018 that doesn’t have all Licensing of players and Stadiums and equipment, no challenge system when the ball goes out, the crowd is mute they don’t react, the camera men in the background doesn’t move the cameras, the chair empire doesn’t speak into the mic, the line judges don’t move their head side to side or chair empire when the ball is going side to side, you can’t even customize your created player facial features 😩so disappointing after 7 years of waiting.
I absolutely agree! Everyone was waiting for something nice but we all got disappointed. And like you say, it's often only little thinks like movement of the referee or the camera men, which should be really easy to put in the game for a big developer.

I played TS4 everyday for about 4-5 hrs a day. As a huge tennis fan for me it was perfect. Online play was great when you found a good opponent who didn't rage. Rafa was my main but I got complaints saying he's cheap so I decided to try other players. Played with everyone. My top 5 Agassi, Rafa, Jankovic, Djokovic and Corrier
Nalbandian and Agassi also good or if you wanna serve and volley Becker was great too. Great game. Played tennis world tour the other day was actually pretty good. Better than top spin 3 which isn't saying much prob not as good as top spin 4 though and missing a lot of tip players.
Creators of TWT have admitted the whole thing was a cash grab. They never intended to make a great game. And the programmers that supposedly worked on T4 that were involved was actually a lie. They will re-release the game at full price next May with some improvements. TWT is nothing but a con. How can you release a Legends Edition when the standard edition of your game is only about 25% complete? On top of this, the gameplay and graphics are subpar at best. Feels like ping pong. Only ping pong can actually be fun.
As far as I heard they'll release a French Open version next year, where I hope it will be a free update for all existing users. And in 2020 they'll bring a new TWT. But to be fair, if they don't improve this game, who is going to buy a TWT 2? And yeah, releasing a shitty game is one thing, but to admit that it's far from being finished and stealing money from customers and retailers is a different story.

The in between animations in Top Spin 4 are just pure magic. I'm still buffled by how incredible real, fluid, and actually possible, every step and hand gesture looks. This game is simply the best when it comes to feeling.
I guess after 7 years I thought we would get a tennis game with a story mode like in the Madden, FIFA games. A tennis game were they have all the records in tennis history installed and our created player can try to break those records like Total Grandslams, Weeks at Number 1, Consecutive Matches won. We can have a score bar running at the bottom of the screen during matches like ESPN. Realistic Announcers dialogue when calling the matches. To get the game we want tennis fans all over the world would have to raise funds and hire a production team and the likes to get a game we can enjoy. You can tell the Producers of this game had a low Budget. These games cost Millions to make.
A story mode like you describe would be awesome. I would love to play something like that.

I still play topspin 4 all the time. I'm so disappointed that nobody has made a better tennis game but every other sport gets good games released often. As of 2020, there's a lot of new players that need to be added to the roster and we can make better graphics now than we did a decade ago. This wouldn't be too hard for 2k but ig they didn't make enough profit from TS4 to continue it

It is sad to see how console games went down this much. Before we used to have more than one tennis game in a year now it takes 7 years for developer to give us an undeveloped tennis game.
So true, but there is also AO just tried that over the last couple of days. It's also not perfect but feels better and it's a bit cheaper as well.
I think also to note. Once a developer makes such a good game I.e. mw2, top spin 4 and many others. It's very difficult to make it better because, it's original. The developer reaches the pinnacle of how much they can get out of the game. That they no longer know how to make it better whilst making the consumers still happy. Thanks for reading

this is a crazy state of affairs. i have never stopped playing top spin 4 along with quite a few others who prop up the servers to this day.
2k now have a guaranteed avenue back in. the main reason they never bothered with a TS5 being a lack of supposed interest, or enough to make it worthwhile. Well, as twt is such an embarrassment they now have all the marketing opportunity they need to capitalise on.
stop fucking around 2k. get TS4 developers together, make TS5, we'll pay the stupid amount TWT wanted and even a subscription model. because if TS5 has anywhere near the longevity TS4 had then it'll be a shoo in for $. in this modern age of new downloadable content...look at rockstar...make an engaging enough model of online play, ever evolving tournaments/players/equipment/clothing/sponsorships...and all the effort put into TS5 could last a console generation and make 2k a shit ton of money.

I still have my PS3 and the only game I play on it is Top Spin 4. Every so often I get that tennis itch and will create a new player and go thru career mode. I still get to a point that my timing and strategy isn't enough and don't win the big tournaments but can beat everybody in the others. I guess the licensing fees really gets sports like tennis and golf.
Might be the issue yeah, don’t understand it though as it’s good for the players as well to get noticed and it’s also a fact that a tennis game isn’t making the money FIFA is making,...

The playfield evolving by playin on it (like the clay marks, and grass wear) in TS4 was so amazing, due to that alone i'd say TS4 has better graphics.... Its baffling that the new game doesnt even have that, and is just sterile without any life.

Play AO tennis! It's been updated recently and is fantastic. Controls great, great presentation, much better than Tennis World Tour! Virtua Tennis mini games, still the greatest though!

Literally the only thing that is better about TWT is that the ball doesn't have the annoying yellow tailing effect
The only thing that TWT do better in than Top Spin 4 is the amount of unforced errors and faults. Sometimes TS4 rallies can go forever without an error, but TWT do have some unforced errors.
I was a big fan of VirtuaTennis3......at least the movements and playing styles of the players were quite accurate. The technique of the shots was pretty good too, definitely similar to real life tennis. This dissapeared altogether in all the following games...probably couldn't get any players mimicking their movements in a motion cap suit? All the games after that weren't realistic at all....

If you haven't ever played Top Spin on the original Xbox I'd reccomend you trying it someday the game is fantastic and anyone who is a fan of tennis should experience that game it's amazing
Great game for the time but hasn't aged very well, same with Top Spin 2 and even Top Spin 3 which feels very robotic in its movements. Top Spin 4 on the other hand still competes and exceeds more modern Tennis games which is a credit to how well made it was.

I think there are some things that TWT might do better.
Now, I don't have TWT yet, but I have TS4, and I want an answer to these questions?
1) TWT has a BIGGER roster than TS4.
TS4 has 17 men and 5 women = 22
TWT has 24 men and 5 = 29 (31 in the TWTLE)
2) TS4 didn't have Wimbledon as a court, so if TWT has, then that is something the newer game has over the older one.
3) Does TWT have "Community Creations" and the ability to download created tennis players and arenas online? How many can you download? Because TS4 had four create-a-player slots, limited hair and costume options, and no online to download created players made by other people.
So, there seem to be a few things that TWT has over TS4. Both have their pluses and minuses, depending on what you want.
1) Top Spin 4 has 25, you can see them in the video at around min. 3:20, so not a big difference
2) Yes, no Wimbledon in TS4 but all other Grand Slams and some more original licensed courts. TWT has not a single licensed court, which is a shame!
3) No TWT has nothing like that, you can create players and they have like 10 faces which you can't edit at all. No downloads possible. That works on AO, will do a video on that soon, so stay tuned.

If you want realistic gameplay, Tennis Elbow 2013 is the best. It's an indie game so graphics aren't great, but it's the closest thing to real tennis, by far. I have played so many tennis games, and Elbow is the only one that doesn't feel predictable. All the shots feel real and dynamic. It has all the little stats like you would see on TV, and career mode is like real life. Mods will give you all the players, Grand Slams and ATP tours. You can tell the developer is a big tennis fan.
Is Better top spin 4 or AO tennis 2?

Top Spin 1 and Top Spin 4 are still very fun. Top Spin 4 has aged very well graphically speaking.

Thanks for the comment, that sounds good. I really hope that they will keep on working on Tennis World Tour and maybe in a couple of month we will see a nice game. Most important to me is that they work on the game physics and bring a bit more variety. Also looking forward to online gaming.

You're right, also apparently it has already been reduced by 20% on digital sale. Makes more sense to wait and play a complete game. They say they're releasing a special French Open edition of the game next year, could be worth buying that instead.
I heard that and I hope this will be available to all customers who bought the actual version as well, otherwise it would be a joke. They also spoke about part 2 in 2020 or something. They need to be careful to not lose their customers, maybe I’ll give AO tennis a chance as well.

Smash Court tennis was the best game .. This new one is terrible the development of the game was easy for them as they changed nothing for 10 years. World tour tennis is a 20 dollar game max.

Nobody points this out, but the biggest problem with animations in tennis games, old and new, is that they do not include the split step. It looks so amateurish when pros dont do the split step, they always do in real life, and it would rwally smoothen out the steps i believe if they did include that
I'd take Full Ace Tennis Simulator or a modded Tennis Elbow over both of these.

Could they at least make an effort to make Top Spin 4 available for PS4 and Xbox One. I know there are regulations and licensing that don't allow it, but I physically can't play the new tennis games that are being released.

If yes, can you answer this question please: Can you play created player vs created player off-line? On PS3 it is not possible (you have to play one created player vs one of the original players) but I read on a forum that it is possible on xbox version. Please help!

In the shop I haven't found them so I'd say no unless they will be in an update or maybe you unlock them later, but as far I can remember there are none.
