I agree with you with poses 1 to 3. I dislike the poop-pose in particular. However I like the materity photos and photographing the baby bumb. Beeing pregnant is a natural stage in a womoens live and bringing new live into the world is the most optimistic and positive thing I can image. Most women do like their materity photos however to my assessment most women do not brag about them.
Would a good general rule be that "if a grade school boy could easily draw vulgar things over a print of this picture, you should probably pick a better pose"? IE arm pit stink lines, pooping, etc.
Interesting, all poses have something to do with association with bodily functions or sensations. Just wondering why should that be awful? Some people like armpits, there is discussion about shaving or not, so maybe some category of feminists would prefer it that way photographed- non shaven! Maybe nice for a deodorant commercial smiling at your armpit even? Lots and lots of couples/women like the pregnant shots. The poop pose- well it could be expressing some intimate setting. The stomach-pain pose: well if you have experience with the 80s photography you see it your way I suppose, but I have not, so my experience varies. In general: it tells more about the viewer than the photography setting how a picture is experienced imho. And it can be varying on the circumstances. Furthermore: these poses for me ar not special in any way, not positive or negative.
Admittedly, there is a divide with this genre of photography, some love them, others hate them and other don't mind either way. It's a personal thing, I'm just one of those chaps who is not a fan.
I agree with your comments re Baby Bump photos. Ok for private use but not for the world!

I agree. If it's not my wife, seeing a pregnant woman is just gross.
I disagree
You are right
Yes lifting the models arm up is not appealing at all.
Poses only work well when they’re natural to the person… everything else is fake and forced, and even worse - says nothing about the person modelling

I like maternity photography, including the "baby bump" photos.
