Got this for Christmas and finally mastered the set up after 48 hours, great piece of kit and missus isn't moaning at me anymore for not using tape on the floor. Bought this because of your review....thank you
I used this Viper model for years. I found it challenging to set the measurement correct because when I would tighten it up the laser's shine would move towards the board throwing everything off. It only takes a bit of understanding how much the laser will move when tightening it down. This only takes about 10 minutes of trial and error. After that its all set. A laser line is perfect for my home set up as we have throw rugs over the tile floor surface. Tape etc just wont cut it as the rugs move a little with foot traffic. So while a laser may not be for everyone or every situation it fits perfectly with my needs. I broke my last one and never hesitated to re order the exact same model. We used it for hours on end almost daily with dart matches lasting into the wee hours of the morning. For the price it really cant be any better.
Does it turn 90 degrees so that the line is vertical? I was hoping to install under the bottom row of kitchen cabinets by the floor to hide from plain view and have it project the line vertically.
The best way to set the laser light is to tighten the screws a little first, this makes it easier to set the line and it will not move when you tighten it up.
The problem with the Winmau one is it sticks out much further and i have caught my arm on it a couple of time tearing the skin, the viper does not stick out as much and there is less chance of catching it..... good review mate....
Andrew Alexander glad you enjoyed it! Yes I agree it is easier to upset the winmau one due to it protruding but I do like the metal Build quality compared to the hardened plastic of the viper. They are in essence the same thing. Not enough is a difference to provide preference! Thanks for your comments though! I agree!
Great vid, I’m not a fan of the laser systems, we have one in the pub where I play, the thing I don’t like is, when your opponent or practise partners are taking their darts out the board, it blocks the laser, the person throwing next, has to wait for the laser line to reappear before you can get yourself set to throw, it’s not a massive problem, just a bit annoying, flow of the game can get a bit disrupted 👍🎯
To be perfectly honest, the Box is a better oche than the laser. I can’t imagine a situation where a people are fine with a dartboard on the wall, but not a piece of Velcro on the floor. There is a reason raised oches are mandatory in most leagues.
It’s for home use and a bit gimicky though some peoples partners don’t want tape on floor or anything so it has its place. I used it a lot when I was living in london
Tenants. I rent so its ideal for me. I have a propper oche mat etc in the garage, but in my lounge I use a portable stand with this mounted firm to it. Ive carried out to the BBQ in summer - 30 seconds i have a board and oche anywhere, on any floor/surface.
Thanks for the feedback. We all have to start somewhere. The intro’s were cut down as the channel grew and more brands came on board. Apologies but thankfully the start got me to where I’ve ended up!
@@LoveDarts it's all good. I see the newer ones are much better. Always happy to see creators who jump right in a topic without a lengthy intro and most importantly without asking for likes and subs. GL.

Thrilled to hear that! Yes it’s a lot tidier!

Nice to hear such a detailed experience of using it! Handy for when you don’t want something so invasive in the room as a physical oche!

@@drugfreebobby from what remember it’s a ball joint so I think you can go vertical but it’s been a long time since I used it!
with as much adjustment as the laser allows, could you mount under a board cabinet and still get the correct line?
@@IllinoisGoy yes 👍

Struggling to find a power adaptor for this that works with it
@@darreng2167 been a few years now! Aren’t they standard ac?
@ tried a few using the spec stated on the instructions inside the box. However no luck with them turning on the unit

A fantastic point that can be only experienced when in use in that environment! I was testing myself and so never had that issue! Good stuff!
Is it effective on carpet?
Yes the video here was on carpet!
