This is very much an easy win for both Wright and Maya if this was a trial fight. Weight has been the absolute wringer with dealing with a multitude of different prosecutors, witnesses, and suspects throughout his entire career. He only lost twice, once was when he needed a Guilty verdict and the other when he was given phoney evidence to get him disbarred. Danganronpa characters are good at what they do but, they're essentially forced into these trials, they don't really have much in terms of real prior experience to them despite being labeled as "Ultimate". It also helps that Phoenix's Magatama and Maya's Spirit Channeling would be an absolutely amazing benefit in a trial. Phoenix will be the absolute GOAT for fictional lawyers and is still one of my favorite characters in gaming
It's important to note that Kyoko is the ultimate detective, making her probably the best individual character for this match-up, and Makoto is also there. Since I'm pretty sure Kyoko beats everybody when it comes to deduction skills this fight really comes down to hax vs smarts.
@@alexpineda5960 True true, looking it up, Kyoko is stated to have been training since she was a child so that helps but, the Danganronpa characters are still very much teenagers. Not really people that have had the chance to place their knowledge to use. Phoenix is an actual attorney that has studied law and been in countless trials, by the time of the most recent change, he's around his mid to late 30 so he has around a decade of legal experience under his belt. There is also the matter of Maya, who while not an attorney, her experience as a Spirit Medium is nothing to scoff at. She is extremely talented in the art and by Spirit of Justice, she's considered a Master and head of Fey Clan. All she needs is to know the face and true name of a person to channel them and this channeling can last a while, the most we've ever seen is 3 days. She is good friends with Wright and has helped him alot in trials. She'll know what he needs to win
Yah but isn't ultimate luck basically canon plot armor? By Danganronpa rules would Phenix forget something important or have his car break down before the trial even starts meaning Danganronpa would win by a default.

Makoto has less Luck feats than Nagito, and even Nagito's luck isn't absolute since he has been outlucked by Izuru in DR3. Hence there are limits to this talent. 3. Phoenix has actually faced a guy with canon luck plot armour during Trial in AA5, and won the case. That's Yuri Cosmos, search it up^

You see, your honor, the original matchup is Phoenix Wright VS Makoto Naegi, therefore it is simply unacceptable that we get an actually good song for a matchup that's similar but with an original twist on it. And, your honor, I shall explain to you exactly what proves that this song is actually good, breaking the law ! The first evidence the prosecution wishes to add to this case is painfully audible, you see. We can directly hear at the start a fully catchy and likable Danganronpa-like melody which also takes in from the Ace Attorney franchise by being relatively upbeat, meaning that just like this the song fits both franchises and all four characters really well without taking away from the song, justifying its quality which is simply unacceptable ! - *Hold it !* The defense wishes to invalidate this argument, your honor. Indeed it is notable that while the main melodies of the song manage to represent the franchises via sounding like a Danganronpa track while having an upbeat feeling that the Ace Attorney franchise is known for, it's also important to note that this does mean that the whole entire track edges towards Danganronpa more so than Ace Attorney via the fact that the song's style follows this franchise more so than the latter, making Ace Attorney fans feel left out due to the fact that there's little to actually identify from the franchise aside from the upbeat feeling the track has. This all means that the track would actually be subpar and therefore not guilty ! - Tch-tch... The prosecution disagrees. It is undeniable that there is a certain lack of Ace Attorney representation, yes. However this should not be counted as a flaw but instead as a good thing as it allows the track to sound more unique, giving it a distinct "crossover" feeling that would otherwise be absent if it was filled with musical references. Not to mention that Ace Attorney tracks often are overused in those settings, the amount of people that only recognize the game for Cornered is concerning, for example- - *Objection !* Speaking of Cornered and Ace Attorney tracks, Cornered is one of if not *the* most popular track from the entire Ace Attorney franchise and fits exceptionally well for VS-debate scenarios, both combat and trial-wise, so not including when so many people awaited it is simply unacceptable as it cheats the track out of a possibly amazing climax ! Not to mention that your earlier point does not hold true as the song lacks this "crossover" feeling due to the lack of Ace Attorney focus in it which is a major issue as, aside from a few points in the song where it actually sounds like a mix of both franchises' OSTs, it is much too Danganronpa-focused most of the time. All this should be proof-enough that this song does not fit the quality standards that would render the track guilty of being too good for its matchup. - Once again the defense fails to note a most important detail, your honor. As you can see in this updated report I just received showing the duration of other Commission Tracks, Turnabout Hope's Peak actually ranks as one of the top 10 longest songs, showing the sheer quality and effort put into the song which is reflected in the track via the fact that there's a major production quality behind it with very catchy and epic moments that definitely counteract any possible lack of representation. And it is without mentioning those so called "few points in the song", as the defense said, where both types of track mix like the segment starting at 6:01 and beyond where it actually takes a spin on a Pursuit theme, just not Cornered, while sounding like a Danganronpa track which furthers my earlier point that a track such as this does not need direct musical references to sound good and unique, showing its true quality and why it is guilty of being too good. I think this should be enough proof to give out a verdict, your honor. - Yes, yes, indeed. After such a detailed explanation and such numerous arguments, it is only natural that the court judges that this song is... ...Overall a really mixed track for me. Which is partly why, beyond just the fun of it, I took that "good/bad dynamic" for the track. Because it is almost what I actually think of the track: it's really catchy with some very unique but fitting moments but it has one glaring issue in that it barely feels like an Ace Attorney track, making it feel very one-sided. And no Cornered, even at the end, was somewhat disappointing, even if the song tries to make a sort of "unique Pursuit theme" mixing both franchises, only issue being that given the whole song has a similar intensity, this Pursuit theme doesn't really land and is but one moment that fits both Danganronpa and Ace Attorney in a sea of a track that clearly focuses on the former. So yeah, I really like this song but I just think it could have been so much better with a bit more of a focus on Ace Attorney and of course the inclusion of Cornered. Of course tho I'll let the people judge which side they think won the argument above. Either way, still a great work with this nonetheless.

Phoenix and Maya VS Makoto and Kyoko! Two of the greatest court turners face off! I could go over these characters stats but I doubt that's what you want! So instead I’ll format it differently! It’s time for a court battle! Rules: This will see who can win a case not only more decisively but also who can turn the court in their favor, for this court battle both will be on mostly equal ground in terms of debate so it is entirely up to their own skills and abilities to win! Phoenix and Maya! Investigative Skills: Phoenix and Maya are well renowned for their investigative skills, as seen by the frankly impossible cases they can solve. Their evidence collection is second to none and they faced a lot of underhanded combatants in their days and still could find evidence for their case. Intelligence: Though they can be aloof at times Phoenix and Maya are insanely smart in law, debate, and court procedure, they definitely have the case wins to prove it. They have been doing this for years after all. Abilities: Both can see and interact with ghosts, and even purge them from a person's body, and with the magatama they can detect lies and psychically unlock them, an insane ability for anyone in law to possess honestly… Oh and both can create gusts of wind by pointing. Makoto and Kyoko! Investigative Skills: Kyoko is often described as the ‘ultimate detective’ and it's easy to see why, she possesses enhanced senses that allow her to sense danger, and can do insanely detailed autopsies on people who die in very unconventional ways, Makoto is also equally impressive in his skills, thanks to his supernatural luck. Intelligence: They are gifted in their intelligence, especially when it comes to cases. You don’t get called the ‘Ultimate Detective’ for nothing after all. Makoto is not as smart but he has solved every murder in Hopes Peak, all of which were insanely complex and unorthodox, and he faced heavy opposition in doing so. Abilities: As said before, Kyoko possess a ‘detective’s intuition’ which allows her to sense danger approaching her, almost like ‘hearing the reaper’s footsteps.’, Makoto possesses supernatural luck, which allows him to get away with… a lot of near-death situations. It's clearly not as strong as Nagito or Izuru’s but it’s still there. Makoto also can see slightly into the future… maybe… probably… It's hard to say. I could go into detail about the ultimate hope bs but honestly all you need to know is that Makoto can help guide and encourage others and defeat despair. So who wins? Makoto and Kyoto are actually probably the better duo when it comes to investigation due to their unique abilities allowing them to better find clues and hints. But that's where their advantages start to fall off. While Makoto and Kyoto could get more evidence, using it is a whole different story, and where Phoenix and Maya get the edge. Phoenix has been shown to be able to make a case out of very little evidence before, and with his physic abilities, he could get more out of the suspects and people connected than Makoto and Kyoto could dream of! And then he could throw any debate Makoto and Kyoto come up with straight back at them with his shear experience, while Makoto and Kyoto are great investigators, they are clearly not the best debaters and lawyers in the world, only ever having to face off against somewhat inexperienced teenagers in crowded debates. Meanwhile Phoenix and Maya can take down the likes of Von Karma, a person with decades of experience, who never lost a case, and had a mountain of underhanded tactics to use against the lawyer duo. Phoenix and Maya just takes it in almost every category. Makoto and Kyoto were amazing in Hopes Peak, but against these true professionals they had nowhere to go but down. The winner is Phoenix Wright and Maya Fey.
I don’t agree. Like at all. A major flaw that will screw over Phoenix is his willingness to lie in order to buy time. And you know how that will turn out against Makoto and Kyoko. Not only will his lie instantly be revealed but Makoto and Kyoko can turn it back on them. And given Makoto and Kyoko don’t work on lies the spirit stuff won’t help Phoenix. If he tries to get wrong the facts, he will get called out. If he tries to straight up lie, he will be called out. Also let’s not forget that Kyoko is actually just as experienced. Phoenix is experienced but Kyoko has been trained from birth. It’s basically the equivalent of a guy who did karate in high school and went pro with it vs a monk who trained day in and day out under strict conditions to be the best. And the final nail in Photans Maya’s coffin is who they went up against. Phoenix has done some impossibly hard cases before. But Makoto and Kyoko could beat Junko. And I’m not gonna sugar coat it. If Junko was in Ace Attorney, they would all be screwed. She knows everything about you the moment you meet her, she is so smart she can beat you at whatever skill you are what at and her analytical skills are so good she can basically predict the future. That feat alone put Makoto and Kyoko on a level that would make Phoenix blush. Also we can actually apply speed scaling to show that Makoto and Kyoko can perceive and analyze information far faster than Phoenix and Maya could dream of. The winner is Makoto and Kyoko
@@zachspool "No that's wrong!" You do bring up a few good facts, but you have left holes in your testimony. Firstly, the biggest hole is the psychic medallion. (Forgot the name) Kyoko has lied before. In the fake trial to save her own skin. (Chapter 5) Junko is incredibly smart, scarily so, but dependent on the context of the battle (whether it takes place in an actual courtroom or hopes peak) Makoto and Kyoko can fall short. Plus, it doesn't stop Phoenix and Maya, who have taken on similar opponents who barely cover anything in order to get a win, compared to Junko, who had purposefully left holes in her testimony as she wants to experience despair. There's also a fact that is Phoenix and Maya ever faced Junko, the magical medallion can still expose Junko of her lies. Kyoko is incredibly smart being a detective, but an attorney and a detective are still different in aspects, and Kyoko will lack skills in the more attorney based parts, where phenox will lack stuff in detective work. (Though he does have experience investigating) Lastly, the best feats from Kyoko and Makoto when it comes to finding a killer are from inexperienced high schoolers who lack killing experience (With few notable exceptions.) Whereas Phoenix and Maya have faced up against people who are backed up by prosecutors, who leave so little evidence that I find it a little bull whenever Mia pulls Phoenix out of the situation. So in the end, there is little Kyoko and Makoto can do in the grand scheme of things. I am a huge Danganronpa fan, but I believe the ace attorney characters take the win.
@@Fun_Is_Infinite “Allow me to cut through those words” There are some things you need to consider. Kyoko did lie. But that was in a very specific situation in which the trial was rigged. To say she would resort to lying in Phoenix’s presence would be to say this battle was rigged from the start. You actually prove why Makoto and Kyoko are superior. Firstly I don’t see any instance in Ace Detective where someone manipulated on Junko’s level. And you want to talk about barely covering anything? Care to remember case 5 where Kyoko could discern the truth just by looking at the crime scene for 5 minutes. But also this battle would need to happen on equal ground so as to not give one person the advantage over the other. And the fact Junko left holes in her testimony isn’t as significant as people think. They use it to say Junko basically made herself lose when all evidence points to that not being the case. Also Phoenix in many instances would not have completed his cases without Maya and the psyche lock power. Makoto and Kyoko can solve similar cases in much quicker time without a special power. Again this would be under the assumption that his battle takes place in a situation specifically favoring Phoenix and not on equal terms. Plus she and Makoto don’t know the rules of the courtroom as well as Phoenix, but they are more than capable of finding the truth far faster than Phoenix and can make good arguments and spot subtle lies just as well as they ever could. So forcing a situation in which Phoenix is more in control won’t be enough to save him. And again this actually works a bit in my favor again. Remember that the people of Hopes Peak are not normal high schoolers. But the kill’s themselves are also far from just basic murders. The first murder was definitely easy to solve. But case two where the victim was sabotaged by an outside party to confuse the others in the trial and they still found the truth. Case 3 where multiple people worked together to disorient everyone and had a victim say the name of another student who wasn’t the killer on for them to find the truth anyway. Case 4 which was a locked room murder which are some of the most complex cases to solve already and had evidence pointing fingers in all directions while having people constantly admit to the murder while Makoto and Kyoko could see through all that to the truth. And Case 5 where despite Kyoko only having 5 minutes Yo see the scene still understood that the trial was rigged and tried to tell everyone that it was rigged only for Makoto to be the only one that figured it out and tried to call Monokuma out only for him to unfairly claim Makoto was the killer. And you also said something important. Maya is very integral to getting Phoenix his wins. Makoto and Kyoko are less reliant on each other and can both reach the truth on there own while Phoenix needs a special psyche power. And in this battle, there is no reason for Kyoko to lie unless we assume the trial was rigged. So in conclusion, team Danganronpa are usually downplayed in regards to there case solving skills, but the slightly more absurd nature of the series means they just have more wacky off the wall feats that are literally impossible compared to Phoenix who needs a psyche power. This doesn’t even include any experience and skill they gained post Danganronpa 1 which should already spell how underestimated these two are. Also remember how long Kyoko has been a detective and you start to understand that the experience advantage Phoenix has isn’t so big and that Phoenix in order to hold any major advantage over team Danganronpa will need the case to happen on his home turf and needs Makoto and Kyoko’s case to be sabotaged in order for him to make any use of the Psyche lock. I understand how you feel, but I’m standing firm on Makoto and Kyoko winning this. Especially when Phoenix is known to lie to the court in order to get more time in cases which can easily be exploited by team Danganronpa. Let’s agree to disagree
FINALLY, I WAITED FOR THIS ONE FOR GOD KNOWS HOW LONG, LESGOOOOOOOO!!!! This track perfectly captures the tension of an Ace Attorney case taking place in an actual death game like DanganRonpa, and I love every bit of it. Brandon did a phenomenal job on this. As for who wins, it's definitely a lot closer with the involvement of Maya and Kyoko, but I still say the AA duo takes this. Knowing a lot about both series, Makoto and Kyoko are perfect at what they do, and Makoto does have the reality warping factor called Luck, but so does Phoenix (he has, like 20 instances where he faced near impossible odds). Moreover, he has faced much complex murder cases (some involving spirits and otherworldly methods), more technical con artists and murderers, has lost only twice (on purpose too), and the Magatama guarantees that Makoto and Kyoko won't hide any facts and figures to gain an upper hand (he used this to remain undefeated in poker for 7 years). The only chance Makoto has is probably getting Luck to do all the dirty work for him, which is still questionable with what Phoenix has dealt with, especially with Maya, who can channel the spirits of the dead at which point the battle is technically over (assuming this is a murder case). Nick and Maya take this^
The main flaw for the AA duo is that the Mangatama can run out of energy (even though it takes 10 years, apparently). The main question at that point is whether Makoto's luck can affect it and if so, how long would it take? (I got this from the commissioner, look at their comment)

I saw another comment here that was saying that this would be a trial the ended in the other team’s execution, and that’s such a damn perfect way to implement these characters into a death battle setting
Downside is that the outcome of an argument is inherently influenced by the issue you’re arguing over. After all, they can’t _both_ have the facts on their side, else they’d be on the same side.

It'd start out as a trial, but partway through it would swap to Kyoko being "hold on a second this is just a death match with no consequences" and it'd swap to Makoto desperately trying to convince Kyoko that no just shooting Phoenix and Maya in the knees is not the answer
Heck yeah, always had this sort of mix in my mind, glad I wasn't the only one to hear this one I like to imagine how a matchup like this would is that it's a sort of race to figure out who the culprit of a crime is, and whoever doesn't figure it out first ends up getting eliminated by Monokuma
Phoenix definitely takes this, both as a trial and a physical battle.... In the former, Phoenix has solved so many incredibly insane cases and taken on even the most legendary of prosecutors such as Manfred Von Karma, a man who has a 40 year streak of victories (while having a bullet lodged in his arm). Meanwhile the most intelligent foe Makoto defeated was Junko Einoshima and he didn't actually outsmart her, he just filled the others wirh enough hope to counter her despair though becoming the Ultimate Hope. As for his Ultimate Luck stuff, Phoenix has insane luck of his own that's just as likely to help him overcome the insane odds as it has for Makoto, so they more than likely cancel each other out. Physically speaking however, even if Makoto is probably the better trained fighter between the two after joining the Future Foundation, Phoenix's durability is insane. Like Wright has eaten a small bottle necklace containing potential trace amounts of poison, survived falling from a burning bridge and into a freezing river known for sweeping away those who fall into it with only a cold afterwards, Been tased to unconsciousness with a 600,000 volt taser, survived being beat on the head with a fire extinguisher and awoke with old some temporary amnesia, and was hit by a car that launched him thirty feet and hit his head on a telephone pole... Then walked away wirh only a sprained ankle. Sure Naegi has survived some insane shit himself like falling through an extremely deep garbage chute, but Nick is on a whole nother level of crazy.
Yea phenoix has survived a lot but he is kinda a pussy. I mean the only time he is not a wimp is when he is being a lawer but in cases where he is being threatened he basically pisses himself.
Now this is an interesting matchup! I definitely think Phoenix takes it in a battle of wits or an actual battle. Phoenix could survive half the executions in Danganronpa NGL.

I am glad Ace Attorney has a theme. I do have another potential commission related to the franchise. The match up is: Miles Edgeworth vs Sae Niijima(from Persona 5). The title would be “Logic vs Luck”. Both are famous prosecutors: Edgeworth being the successor of Manfred von Karma and Sae being part of Japan's Special Investigations Unit. Both used to care only about winning and even played dirty to win their cases. Eventually, they were saved by the main heroes and changed their ways (though Edgeworth remained as a prosecutor while Sae changed into a Lawyer). The idea is mainy due to me reading the Persona 5 x Ace Attorney crossover fic, “Logic and Trickster”. It is a perfect combination for the two series and it is an orginal story. Fun fact: The title is because Edgeworth uses Logic during his cases while Luck is based on Sae's palace which is the courthouse as a casino.

To be honest, i knew that Phoenix VS Makoto would be commissioned, but i never thought that both Maya and Kyoko were included. I mean i'm not complaining but is there a particular reason of why they're included in this MU?
Maya is Phoenix's assistant so she kinda has to be here Kyoko is the one that does half the work in danganronpa so it's more fair having her here than leaving Makoto by himself
This isn't a typical battle most likely a trial battle, and then really it's just Phoenix and Maya vs Kyoko, with that being said Phoenix has a lot more experience, over 30 years and has only lost 2 cases in those years, also Maya when she isn't being framed for murder is a great help to Wright via spirits, so this seems like an easy win for Phoenix and Maya but Kyoko has a lot of skill even if she's not an attorney she is the ultamite detective so the best ever and it shows with how she's most likely the only reason people survived V1, she's been training since a child, figured out a total of 3 murder cases, helped fix the world from the whole worst event ever in human history, was stated to have figured out what happend to a girl on Christmas just by looking at her, died, un-died, survived another killing game using her wits (and Mikan), and I'm sure more I'm just not aware of, and she has trial expirence via the killing games even if they weren't real trials she defended Naegi dispite every piece of evedance before hand leading to him, and she was right, she just has an increadable track record and by the end of the series isn't a teen but rather at least in her 20's by the end, so in total with how much bullshit Kyoko has gone through I think she might win, Naegi too but he's more there as emotinal support
True but Makoto is a lot smarter than people give him credit for and he was the only one that Kyoko would share information with hell there have been times where Makoto finds out about things before Kyoko did, like his unfitting door frame, the picture of Mondo, Leon, and Chihiro, and Sakura being the traitor. And he has also kept her safe just as much as vice versa like when he kept Monokuma's attention while she went to investigate restricted areas, he kept her secret in the rigged trial and took a bullet for her, and by protecting her and the rest from spending the rest of their lives in that hellscape when Junko strong armed her by using her father's wishes.

If it’s a physical battle then it’s a Team Danganronpa stomp obviously. But even a trial battle would be hard for Phoenix. I’ll explain why Makoto’s only real disadvantage here is experience. But even then, he still has shown incredible problem solving skills and can match the Ultimate Detective who is definitely on Wrights level of experience. You may be wondering how since she is a high schooler. Well she is from a family who basically raises there children to be detectives from birth. She even implies that some of her earliest memories are of learning to be a detective. And Makoto can match her in IQ. She has stated on multiple occasions that Makoto is the only one who could solve the case and end the killing school life. And she is confident enough in his skills that she is willing to keep him in the loop with new info she finds and is confident enough in his ability to let Makoto explain the more complicated parts of cases. And for people who say she and Byakuya hold his hand throughout the game, they literally do the exact opposite. Basically throwing him under the bus and making Makoto sold the hard parts instead. Makoto isn’t only able to match characters with as much experience as Phoenix but if we look at how they do there trials, it becomes clear that Makoto has an edge. Phoenix is a attorney which means he tends to get all the evidence and his main job is to use the evidence to make a case and win the trial. Makoto on the other hand with no experience starts with no evidence, only gets around 2 hours to get all the evidence he needs, immediately goes to the class trial in which he needs to make his argument up on the spot. And during trials, Phoenix will lie in order to get a break to have extra time. Not only is that not an option for Makoto but Makoto is a master at seeing lies and contradictions. He was even able to make out the most subtle contradiction from Kyoko. One so subtle that not even Byakuya noticed. Makoto also is under much more pressure than Phoenix. Phoenix’s worst case was when he was on the line for a murder case. But his life wasn’t immediately on the line the same way Makoto’s consistently is. Makoto has to do several back to back trials that all last less than a few hours and his life is on the line. Not only that but multiple cases had Makoto as a main suspect which adds even more pressure. And I think the final point is who Makoto could go up against in a court room. Phoenix definitely went up against some smart people, but I won’t sugar coat it. Junko blows everyone in Ace Attorney out of the water. She is bested by Makoto despite her IQ being so high she can analyze and perfectly understand someone in a few moments and she is so good she practically can predict the future. She can casually manipulate the entire world into an apocalypse but Makoto could stop her and solve the killing school mystery. Phoenix and Maya may be incredible at what they do. But they are no match for the the Ultimate detective and Ultimate Hope. These Ace Attorneys just bit the truth bullet. The winner is Makoto and Kyoko

@@Annihilate0405 I don’t think that would be much help. It’s meant to get information out of people who are lying or keeping a secret. Makoto and Kyoko don’t really keep secrets. The best they do is save information for later which probably would not trigger a psyche lock to appear. Most likely Wright would just cause them to say all of there evidence. And that will play into Wright’s downfall as if Wright try’s to lie around the truth, Makoto and Kyoko are masters at finding contradictions. And Maya probably won’t make as much of an impact as Kyoko would in a court battle. That’s just my take

Insert totally original Phoenix scales to Galactus joke here: Hello, I am the Commissioner of this track and dear god I am at a loss for words. Brandon and Ethan not only met my expectations but also completely surpassed them with both the track and the beautiful artwork. As for the Matchup itself where do I even begin? The Characters themselves are amazing and bounce off of each other so well and are some of the best parts of either of their series, Phoenix somehow makes one the most frustrating jobs on planet earth look absolutely badass and when he starts taunting his opponents in court and I live for it (Sassy Phoenix is The Best Phoenix). Maya is hilarious and she is also a spirit medium who can talk to the dead which I find very interesting and a little scary. Makoto is my favorite protag in DR and is one of those characters that I couldn't possibly dislike sure he may not be the deepest or smartest character ever; but I think he is way smarter than people give him credit for and he is so underrated and is always willing to help people even when he is confused or embarrassed by people and while people think he is boring, I never once was bored by him. Kyoko has a stoic and secretive personality but slowly opens up people as time goes on mostly thanks to Makoto and she has a strong connection to family in the series and how she reacts to seeing her father's bones in that box. This matchup has literally everything I could possibly want for both series on DB. It could have Amazing Interactions, A Unique Way of Fighting, A Unique Setting, A Way to Tell a Story That is Natural, A Way of Death That Doesn't Ruin Their Characters, The Most Emotional Ending Potential in the Series, and A Matchup Thats Actually Debatable In My Opinion. As for who I think wins: This is where people will disagree with me, at first, I thought this would be a stomp, but now after doing my own research into each series I don't think that this matchup is one sided like people have made it out to be. I think that both duos have an actual fighting chance to win in a trial I agree that by themselves both Makoto and Kyoko would lose to Phoenix, but they would lose for the complete opposite reasons. Makoto IMO has the speed, abilities, and willpower but while being more intelligent that most people say but still isn't as smart as Phoenix and he lacks the experience to keep up with him while Kyoko IMO has the experience, skill, regular IQ, and speed to keep up with Phoenix but lacks the abilities to keep up. In a way Makoto and Kyoko make up for most of each other's biggest weaknesses when they team up. For that reason, I think it's better for Makoto and Kyoko to be on a team with each other seeing how well they work together than be by themselves. The same also applies to Phoenix and Maya. And It's not like it's just in a versus aspect either its also in character for them as well, because of what both duos have been through with each other whether it be running across a burning bridge to save the other and saving them from being convicted of murder or saving someone from being slaughtered by a robotic bear and saving them from spending the rest of their life in a hellhole by being their emotional support. IMO this Matchup comes down to Makoto's Luck vs Phoenix's Magatama on one side both Makoto and Kyoko would extremely be vulnerable to something like this happening to them but on the other side I don't hear anyone talking about the magatama's greatest weakness and that is the fact that it can run out of spirit energy normally it takes 10 years to run out of energy but with Makoto's luck that could speed things up not to mention this the exact type of situation where his luck would be at his strongest. TLDR: Makoto or Kyoko alone: Phoenix should win with mid difficulty. But in this case: I think that Makoto and Kyoko just barely pull through though a case could be made for Phoenix and Maya winning.
Just wanted to say that Maya can recharge the Magatama even if it runs out of energy (like Pearl Fey, since she is also a Spirit Channeler). But I do agree that with the inclusion of Kyoko, Makoto has a better chance at winning this. Still gonna go with Nick on this one. Also, this is a great commission!
@@delite3400 That is true but Makoto's Luck could just break it out right and there are other things I forgot to mention earlier like Phoenix's Airbending or Fire Powers from the anime and Makoto's Concentration which slows down his perception of time kind of like Blade Mode in Metal Gear Rising, his green hexagon bullets are like villager's pocket move in animal crossing and smash bros, and his skills that he can equip like cheat code for example, either way neither duo is going down without a fight.
I think people really underestimate the DR Crew. Kyoko is the ultimate detective from a heavy line of detectives. She was among the highest ranking members of her detective agency when she was just 13 years old, and she only got smarter from there. Physical fight? I'm sorry but no, DR didn't get debunked, Makky and Kyoko still take an edge. Kyoko was so smart that she was deemed a threat by someone whose entire talent is being able to perfectly analyze people immediately. And Kyoko also had to deal with Kyoka, a whole plant/human hybrid that wanted to kill her. Don't put DR down so easily.
As far as IQ goes, they're smart, but Phoenix has been doing this as a job for years within a system built against him. Plus he has the magatama and Maya to communicate with the dead if truly backed into a corner. A physical fight depends on what Phoenix is allowed.
Kyoko is extraordinarily gifted, like numerous other characters from Ace Attorney that Phoenix has faced, so this would be nothing new for him (although admittedly, Kyoko would be the toughest mind tank Phoenix would ever face). But I'm pretty sure Kyoko hadn't faced anything remotely related to Killer ghosts and spirit mediums/channelers. Phoenix also has the Magatama, so no outdated autopsy report shenanigans. I'm pretty sure Phoenix has double the amount of physical feats than Makoto for a fist fight, while Makoto relies on downscales and Luck.
@@delite3400 Not spirits, but Kyoko has faced the supernatural before. But not like she really needs the deceased to make a solid case. I legitimately believe that Kyoko could solve any case Phoenix could without any cheap tricks involving the dead. In a real court case, Phoenix's Magatama would be immediately discarded and would never be taken seriously. The only way Phoenix stands a chance is either in a class trial or in his universe, but in any other situation, Kyoko outdoes him hard.

If this "death battle" would be about who finds the killer first in the trial, I would give it to Nick and Maya as well. It would certainly be a case about Nick's out of the box thinking (and bullsh***ing) versus Kyoko's intellect but I think the sheer difference in experience from the Ace Attorney duo with its equally crazy world will win. And it's not like the first time Nick's life depended on him winning the case (looking at you Defense Culpability Act)

This is very much an easy win for both Wright and Maya if this was a trial fight. Weight has been the absolute wringer with dealing with a multitude of different prosecutors, witnesses, and suspects throughout his entire career. He only lost twice, once was when he needed a Guilty verdict and the other when he was given phoney evidence to get him disbarred. Danganronpa characters are good at what they do but, they're essentially forced into these trials, they don't really have much in terms of real prior experience to them despite being labeled as "Ultimate". It also helps that Phoenix's Magatama and Maya's Spirit Channeling would be an absolutely amazing benefit in a trial. Phoenix will be the absolute GOAT for fictional lawyers and is still one of my favorite characters in gaming
It's important to note that Kyoko is the ultimate detective, making her probably the best individual character for this match-up, and Makoto is also there. Since I'm pretty sure Kyoko beats everybody when it comes to deduction skills this fight really comes down to hax vs smarts.

Not really people that have had the chance to place their knowledge to use. Phoenix is an actual attorney that has studied law and been in countless trials, by the time of the most recent change, he's around his mid to late 30 so he has around a decade of legal experience under his belt. There is also the matter of Maya, who while not an attorney, her experience as a Spirit Medium is nothing to scoff at. She is extremely talented in the art and by Spirit of Justice, she's considered a Master and head of Fey Clan. All she needs is to know the face and true name of a person to channel them and this channeling can last a while, the most we've ever seen is 3 days. She is good friends with Wright and has helped him alot in trials. She'll know what he needs to win

And, your honor, I shall explain to you exactly what proves that this song is actually good, breaking the law !
The first evidence the prosecution wishes to add to this case is painfully audible, you see. We can directly hear at the start a fully catchy and likable Danganronpa-like melody which also takes in from the Ace Attorney franchise by being relatively upbeat, meaning that just like this the song fits both franchises and all four characters really well without taking away from the song, justifying its quality which is simply unacceptable !

Indeed it is notable that while the main melodies of the song manage to represent the franchises via sounding like a Danganronpa track while having an upbeat feeling that the Ace Attorney franchise is known for, it's also important to note that this does mean that the whole entire track edges towards Danganronpa more so than Ace Attorney via the fact that the song's style follows this franchise more so than the latter, making Ace Attorney fans feel left out due to the fact that there's little to actually identify from the franchise aside from the upbeat feeling the track has. Not to mention that your earlier point does not hold true as the song lacks this "crossover" feeling due to the lack of Ace Attorney focus in it which is a major issue as, aside from a few points in the song where it actually sounds like a mix of both franchises' OSTs, it is much too Danganronpa-focused most of the time. All this should be proof-enough that this song does not fit the quality standards that would render the track guilty of being too good for its matchup.

As you can see in this updated report I just received showing the duration of other Commission Tracks, Turnabout Hope's Peak actually ranks as one of the top 10 longest songs, showing the sheer quality and effort put into the song which is reflected in the track via the fact that there's a major production quality behind it with very catchy and epic moments that definitely counteract any possible lack of representation. And it is without mentioning those so called "few points in the song", as the defense said, where both types of track mix like the segment starting at 6:01 and beyond where it actually takes a spin on a Pursuit theme, just not Cornered, while sounding like a Danganronpa track which furthers my earlier point that a track such as this does not need direct musical references to sound good and unique, showing its true quality and why it is guilty of being too good. I think this should be enough proof to give out a verdict, your honor.

...Overall a really mixed track for me. Which is partly why, beyond just the fun of it, I took that "good/bad dynamic" for the track. Because it is almost what I actually think of the track: it's really catchy with some very unique but fitting moments but it has one glaring issue in that it barely feels like an Ace Attorney track, making it feel very one-sided. And no Cornered, even at the end, was somewhat disappointing, even if the song tries to make a sort of "unique Pursuit theme" mixing both franchises, only issue being that given the whole song has a similar intensity, this Pursuit theme doesn't really land and is but one moment that fits both Danganronpa and Ace Attorney in a sea of a track that clearly focuses on the former. So yeah, I really like this song but I just think it could have been so much better with a bit more of a focus on Ace Attorney and of course the inclusion of Cornered. Of course tho I'll let the people judge which side they think won the argument above. Either way, still a great work with this nonetheless.

Rules: This will see who can win a case not only more decisively but also who can turn the court in their favor, for this court battle both will be on mostly equal ground in terms of debate so it is entirely up to their own skills and abilities to win!
Phoenix and Maya!
Investigative Skills: Phoenix and Maya are well renowned for their investigative skills, as seen by the frankly impossible cases they can solve. Their evidence collection is second to none and they faced a lot of underhanded combatants in their days and still could find evidence for their case.
Intelligence: Though they can be aloof at times Phoenix and Maya are insanely smart in law, debate, and court procedure, they definitely have the case wins to prove it. They have been doing this for years after all.
Abilities: Both can see and interact with ghosts, and even purge them from a person's body, and with the magatama they can detect lies and psychically unlock them, an insane ability for anyone in law to possess honestly… Oh and both can create gusts of wind by pointing.
Makoto and Kyoko!
Investigative Skills: Kyoko is often described as the ‘ultimate detective’ and it's easy to see why, she possesses enhanced senses that allow her to sense danger, and can do insanely detailed autopsies on people who die in very unconventional ways, Makoto is also equally impressive in his skills, thanks to his supernatural luck.
Intelligence: They are gifted in their intelligence, especially when it comes to cases. You don’t get called the ‘Ultimate Detective’ for nothing after all. Makoto is not as smart but he has solved every murder in Hopes Peak, all of which were insanely complex and unorthodox, and he faced heavy opposition in doing so.
Abilities: As said before, Kyoko possess a ‘detective’s intuition’ which allows her to sense danger approaching her, almost like ‘hearing the reaper’s footsteps.’, Makoto possesses supernatural luck, which allows him to get away with… a lot of near-death situations. It's clearly not as strong as Nagito or Izuru’s but it’s still there. Makoto also can see slightly into the future… maybe… probably… It's hard to say. I could go into detail about the ultimate hope bs but honestly all you need to know is that Makoto can help guide and encourage others and defeat despair.
So who wins?
Makoto and Kyoto are actually probably the better duo when it comes to investigation due to their unique abilities allowing them to better find clues and hints. But that's where their advantages start to fall off.
While Makoto and Kyoto could get more evidence, using it is a whole different story, and where Phoenix and Maya get the edge.
Phoenix has been shown to be able to make a case out of very little evidence before, and with his physic abilities, he could get more out of the suspects and people connected than Makoto and Kyoto could dream of!
And then he could throw any debate Makoto and Kyoto come up with straight back at them with his shear experience, while Makoto and Kyoto are great investigators, they are clearly not the best debaters and lawyers in the world, only ever having to face off against somewhat inexperienced teenagers in crowded debates.
Meanwhile Phoenix and Maya can take down the likes of Von Karma, a person with decades of experience, who never lost a case, and had a mountain of underhanded tactics to use against the lawyer duo.
Phoenix and Maya just takes it in almost every category.
Makoto and Kyoto were amazing in Hopes Peak, but against these true professionals they had nowhere to go but down.
The winner is Phoenix Wright and Maya Fey.

I don’t agree. Like at all. A major flaw that will screw over Phoenix is his willingness to lie in order to buy time. And you know how that will turn out against Makoto and Kyoko. Not only will his lie instantly be revealed but Makoto and Kyoko can turn it back on them. And given Makoto and Kyoko don’t work on lies the spirit stuff won’t help Phoenix. If he tries to get wrong the facts, he will get called out. If he tries to straight up lie, he will be called out. Also let’s not forget that Kyoko is actually just as experienced. Phoenix is experienced but Kyoko has been trained from birth. It’s basically the equivalent of a guy who did karate in high school and went pro with it vs a monk who trained day in and day out under strict conditions to be the best. And the final nail in Photans Maya’s coffin is who they went up against. Phoenix has done some impossibly hard cases before. But Makoto and Kyoko could beat Junko. And I’m not gonna sugar coat it. If Junko was in Ace Attorney, they would all be screwed. She knows everything about you the moment you meet her, she is so smart she can beat you at whatever skill you are what at and her analytical skills are so good she can basically predict the future. That feat alone put Makoto and Kyoko on a level that would make Phoenix blush. Also we can actually apply speed scaling to show that Makoto and Kyoko can perceive and analyze information far faster than Phoenix and Maya could dream of.

You do bring up a few good facts, but you have left holes in your testimony.
Firstly, the biggest hole is the psychic medallion. (Forgot the name)
Kyoko has lied before. In the fake trial to save her own skin. (Chapter 5)
Junko is incredibly smart, scarily so, but dependent on the context of the battle (whether it takes place in an actual courtroom or hopes peak) Makoto and Kyoko can fall short. Plus, it doesn't stop Phoenix and Maya, who have taken on similar opponents who barely cover anything in order to get a win, compared to Junko, who had purposefully left holes in her testimony as she wants to experience despair. There's also a fact that is Phoenix and Maya ever faced Junko, the magical medallion can still expose Junko of her lies.
Kyoko is incredibly smart being a detective, but an attorney and a detective are still different in aspects, and Kyoko will lack skills in the more attorney based parts, where phenox will lack stuff in detective work. (Though he does have experience investigating)
Lastly, the best feats from Kyoko and Makoto when it comes to finding a killer are from inexperienced high schoolers who lack killing experience (With few notable exceptions.) Whereas Phoenix and Maya have faced up against people who are backed up by prosecutors, who leave so little evidence that I find it a little bull whenever Mia pulls Phoenix out of the situation.
So in the end, there is little Kyoko and Makoto can do in the grand scheme of things. I am a huge Danganronpa fan, but I believe the ace attorney characters take the win.

There are some things you need to consider.
Kyoko did lie. But that was in a very specific situation in which the trial was rigged. To say she would resort to lying in Phoenix’s presence would be to say this battle was rigged from the start.
You actually prove why Makoto and Kyoko are superior. Firstly I don’t see any instance in Ace Detective where someone manipulated on Junko’s level. And you want to talk about barely covering anything? Care to remember case 5 where Kyoko could discern the truth just by looking at the crime scene for 5 minutes. But also this battle would need to happen on equal ground so as to not give one person the advantage over the other. And the fact Junko left holes in her testimony isn’t as significant as people think. They use it to say Junko basically made herself lose when all evidence points to that not being the case. Also Phoenix in many instances would not have completed his cases without Maya and the psyche lock power. Makoto and Kyoko can solve similar cases in much quicker time without a special power.
Again this would be under the assumption that his battle takes place in a situation specifically favoring Phoenix and not on equal terms. Plus she and Makoto don’t know the rules of the courtroom as well as Phoenix, but they are more than capable of finding the truth far faster than Phoenix and can make good arguments and spot subtle lies just as well as they ever could. So forcing a situation in which Phoenix is more in control won’t be enough to save him.
And again this actually works a bit in my favor again. Remember that the people of Hopes Peak are not normal high schoolers. But the kill’s themselves are also far from just basic murders. The first murder was definitely easy to solve. But case two where the victim was sabotaged by an outside party to confuse the others in the trial and they still found the truth. Case 3 where multiple people worked together to disorient everyone and had a victim say the name of another student who wasn’t the killer on for them to find the truth anyway. Case 4 which was a locked room murder which are some of the most complex cases to solve already and had evidence pointing fingers in all directions while having people constantly admit to the murder while Makoto and Kyoko could see through all that to the truth. And Case 5 where despite Kyoko only having 5 minutes Yo see the scene still understood that the trial was rigged and tried to tell everyone that it was rigged only for Makoto to be the only one that figured it out and tried to call Monokuma out only for him to unfairly claim Makoto was the killer. And you also said something important. Maya is very integral to getting Phoenix his wins. Makoto and Kyoko are less reliant on each other and can both reach the truth on there own while Phoenix needs a special psyche power. And in this battle, there is no reason for Kyoko to lie unless we assume the trial was rigged.
So in conclusion, team Danganronpa are usually downplayed in regards to there case solving skills, but the slightly more absurd nature of the series means they just have more wacky off the wall feats that are literally impossible compared to Phoenix who needs a psyche power. This doesn’t even include any experience and skill they gained post Danganronpa 1 which should already spell how underestimated these two are. Also remember how long Kyoko has been a detective and you start to understand that the experience advantage Phoenix has isn’t so big and that Phoenix in order to hold any major advantage over team Danganronpa will need the case to happen on his home turf and needs Makoto and Kyoko’s case to be sabotaged in order for him to make any use of the Psyche lock. I understand how you feel, but I’m standing firm on Makoto and Kyoko winning this. Especially when Phoenix is known to lie to the court in order to get more time in cases which can easily be exploited by team Danganronpa.

FINALLY, I WAITED FOR THIS ONE FOR GOD KNOWS HOW LONG, LESGOOOOOOOO!!!!
This track perfectly captures the tension of an Ace Attorney case taking place in an actual death game like DanganRonpa, and I love every bit of it. Brandon did a phenomenal job on this.
As for who wins, it's definitely a lot closer with the involvement of Maya and Kyoko, but I still say the AA duo takes this. Knowing a lot about both series, Makoto and Kyoko are perfect at what they do, and Makoto does have the reality warping factor called Luck, but so does Phoenix (he has, like 20 instances where he faced near impossible odds). Moreover, he has faced much complex murder cases (some involving spirits and otherworldly methods), more technical con artists and murderers, has lost only twice (on purpose too), and the Magatama guarantees that Makoto and Kyoko won't hide any facts and figures to gain an upper hand (he used this to remain undefeated in poker for 7 years).
The only chance Makoto has is probably getting Luck to do all the dirty work for him, which is still questionable with what Phoenix has dealt with, especially with Maya, who can channel the spirits of the dead at which point the battle is technically over (assuming this is a murder case).

Phoenix definitely takes this, both as a trial and a physical battle....
In the former, Phoenix has solved so many incredibly insane cases and taken on even the most legendary of prosecutors such as Manfred Von Karma, a man who has a 40 year streak of victories (while having a bullet lodged in his arm). Meanwhile the most intelligent foe Makoto defeated was Junko Einoshima and he didn't actually outsmart her, he just filled the others wirh enough hope to counter her despair though becoming the Ultimate Hope. As for his Ultimate Luck stuff, Phoenix has insane luck of his own that's just as likely to help him overcome the insane odds as it has for Makoto, so they more than likely cancel each other out.
Physically speaking however, even if Makoto is probably the better trained fighter between the two after joining the Future Foundation, Phoenix's durability is insane. Like Wright has eaten a small bottle necklace containing potential trace amounts of poison, survived falling from a burning bridge and into a freezing river known for sweeping away those who fall into it with only a cold afterwards, Been tased to unconsciousness with a 600,000 volt taser, survived being beat on the head with a fire extinguisher and awoke with old some temporary amnesia, and was hit by a car that launched him thirty feet and hit his head on a telephone pole... Then walked away wirh only a sprained ankle.
Sure Naegi has survived some insane shit himself like falling through an extremely deep garbage chute, but Nick is on a whole nother level of crazy.
Yea phenoix has survived a lot but he is kinda a pussy. I mean the only time he is not a wimp is when he is being a lawer but in cases where he is being threatened he basically pisses himself.

I am glad Ace Attorney has a theme. I do have another potential commission related to the franchise. The match up is: Miles Edgeworth vs Sae Niijima(from Persona 5). The title would be “Logic vs Luck”. Both are famous prosecutors: Edgeworth being the successor of Manfred von Karma and Sae being part of Japan's Special Investigations Unit. Both used to care only about winning and even played dirty to win their cases. Eventually, they were saved by the main heroes and changed their ways (though Edgeworth remained as a prosecutor while Sae changed into a Lawyer). The idea is mainy due to me reading the Persona 5 x Ace Attorney crossover fic, “Logic and Trickster”. It is a perfect combination for the two series and it is an orginal story.
Fun fact: The title is because Edgeworth uses Logic during his cases while Luck is based on Sae's palace which is the courthouse as a casino.

This isn't a typical battle most likely a trial battle, and then really it's just Phoenix and Maya vs Kyoko, with that being said Phoenix has a lot more experience, over 30 years and has only lost 2 cases in those years, also Maya when she isn't being framed for murder is a great help to Wright via spirits, so this seems like an easy win for Phoenix and Maya but Kyoko has a lot of skill even if she's not an attorney she is the ultamite detective so the best ever and it shows with how she's most likely the only reason people survived V1, she's been training since a child, figured out a total of 3 murder cases, helped fix the world from the whole worst event ever in human history, was stated to have figured out what happend to a girl on Christmas just by looking at her, died, un-died, survived another killing game using her wits (and Mikan), and I'm sure more I'm just not aware of, and she has trial expirence via the killing games even if they weren't real trials she defended Naegi dispite every piece of evedance before hand leading to him, and she was right, she just has an increadable track record and by the end of the series isn't a teen but rather at least in her 20's by the end, so in total with how much bullshit Kyoko has gone through I think she might win, Naegi too but he's more there as emotinal support
True but Makoto is a lot smarter than people give him credit for and he was the only one that Kyoko would share information with hell there have been times where Makoto finds out about things before Kyoko did, like his unfitting door frame, the picture of Mondo, Leon, and Chihiro, and Sakura being the traitor. And he has also kept her safe just as much as vice versa like when he kept Monokuma's attention while she went to investigate restricted areas, he kept her secret in the rigged trial and took a bullet for her, and by protecting her and the rest from spending the rest of their lives in that hellscape when Junko strong armed her by using her father's wishes.

If it’s a physical battle then it’s a Team Danganronpa stomp obviously. But even a trial battle would be hard for Phoenix. I’ll explain why
Makoto’s only real disadvantage here is experience. But even then, he still has shown incredible problem solving skills and can match the Ultimate Detective who is definitely on Wrights level of experience. You may be wondering how since she is a high schooler. Well she is from a family who basically raises there children to be detectives from birth. She even implies that some of her earliest memories are of learning to be a detective. And Makoto can match her in IQ. She has stated on multiple occasions that Makoto is the only one who could solve the case and end the killing school life. And she is confident enough in his skills that she is willing to keep him in the loop with new info she finds and is confident enough in his ability to let Makoto explain the more complicated parts of cases. And for people who say she and Byakuya hold his hand throughout the game, they literally do the exact opposite. Basically throwing him under the bus and making Makoto sold the hard parts instead.
Makoto isn’t only able to match characters with as much experience as Phoenix but if we look at how they do there trials, it becomes clear that Makoto has an edge. Phoenix is a attorney which means he tends to get all the evidence and his main job is to use the evidence to make a case and win the trial. Makoto on the other hand with no experience starts with no evidence, only gets around 2 hours to get all the evidence he needs, immediately goes to the class trial in which he needs to make his argument up on the spot. And during trials, Phoenix will lie in order to get a break to have extra time. Not only is that not an option for Makoto but Makoto is a master at seeing lies and contradictions. He was even able to make out the most subtle contradiction from Kyoko. One so subtle that not even Byakuya noticed.
Makoto also is under much more pressure than Phoenix. Phoenix’s worst case was when he was on the line for a murder case. But his life wasn’t immediately on the line the same way Makoto’s consistently is. Makoto has to do several back to back trials that all last less than a few hours and his life is on the line. Not only that but multiple cases had Makoto as a main suspect which adds even more pressure.
And I think the final point is who Makoto could go up against in a court room. Phoenix definitely went up against some smart people, but I won’t sugar coat it. Junko blows everyone in Ace Attorney out of the water. She is bested by Makoto despite her IQ being so high she can analyze and perfectly understand someone in a few moments and she is so good she practically can predict the future. She can casually manipulate the entire world into an apocalypse but Makoto could stop her and solve the killing school mystery.
Phoenix and Maya may be incredible at what they do. But they are no match for the the Ultimate detective and Ultimate Hope. These Ace Attorneys just bit the truth bullet.
The winner is Makoto and Kyoko
I agree that Makoto being handheld is false and with them given less time but I think Makoto and Kyoko did equal amount of work when it comes to investigating.

@@Annihilate0405 I don’t think that would be much help. It’s meant to get information out of people who are lying or keeping a secret. Makoto and Kyoko don’t really keep secrets. The best they do is save information for later which probably would not trigger a psyche lock to appear. Most likely Wright would just cause them to say all of there evidence. And that will play into Wright’s downfall as if Wright try’s to lie around the truth, Makoto and Kyoko are masters at finding contradictions. And Maya probably won’t make as much of an impact as Kyoko would in a court battle. That’s just my take

Hello, I am the Commissioner of this track and dear god I am at a loss for words. Brandon and Ethan not only met my expectations but also completely surpassed them with both the track and the beautiful artwork. As for the Matchup itself where do I even begin? The Characters themselves are amazing and bounce off of each other so well and are some of the best parts of either of their series, Phoenix somehow makes one the most frustrating jobs on planet earth look absolutely badass and when he starts taunting his opponents in court and I live for it (Sassy Phoenix is The Best Phoenix). Maya is hilarious and she is also a spirit medium who can talk to the dead which I find very interesting and a little scary. Makoto is my favorite protag in DR and is one of those characters that I couldn't possibly dislike sure he may not be the deepest or smartest character ever; but I think he is way smarter than people give him credit for and he is so underrated and is always willing to help people even when he is confused or embarrassed by people and while people think he is boring, I never once was bored by him. Kyoko has a stoic and secretive personality but slowly opens up people as time goes on mostly thanks to Makoto and she has a strong connection to family in the series and how she reacts to seeing her father's bones in that box. This matchup has literally everything I could possibly want for both series on DB. It could have Amazing Interactions, A Unique Way of Fighting, A Unique Setting, A Way to Tell a Story That is Natural, A Way of Death That Doesn't Ruin Their Characters, The Most Emotional Ending Potential in the Series, and A Matchup Thats Actually Debatable In My Opinion.
As for who I think wins: This is where people will disagree with me, at first, I thought this would be a stomp, but now after doing my own research into each series I don't think that this matchup is one sided like people have made it out to be. I think that both duos have an actual fighting chance to win in a trial I agree that by themselves both Makoto and Kyoko would lose to Phoenix, but they would lose for the complete opposite reasons. Makoto IMO has the speed, abilities, and willpower but while being more intelligent that most people say but still isn't as smart as Phoenix and he lacks the experience to keep up with him while Kyoko IMO has the experience, skill, regular IQ, and speed to keep up with Phoenix but lacks the abilities to keep up. In a way Makoto and Kyoko make up for most of each other's biggest weaknesses when they team up. For that reason, I think it's better for Makoto and Kyoko to be on a team with each other seeing how well they work together than be by themselves. The same also applies to Phoenix and Maya. And It's not like it's just in a versus aspect either its also in character for them as well, because of what both duos have been through with each other whether it be running across a burning bridge to save the other and saving them from being convicted of murder or saving someone from being slaughtered by a robotic bear and saving them from spending the rest of their life in a hellhole by being their emotional support. IMO this Matchup comes down to Makoto's Luck vs Phoenix's Magatama on one side both Makoto and Kyoko would extremely be vulnerable to something like this happening to them but on the other side I don't hear anyone talking about the magatama's greatest weakness and that is the fact that it can run out of spirit energy normally it takes 10 years to run out of energy but with Makoto's luck that could speed things up not to mention this the exact type of situation where his luck would be at his strongest.
TLDR:
Makoto or Kyoko alone: Phoenix should win with mid difficulty.
But in this case: I think that Makoto and Kyoko just barely pull through though a case could be made for Phoenix and Maya winning.
Just wanted to say that Maya can recharge the Magatama even if it runs out of energy (like Pearl Fey, since she is also a Spirit Channeler). But I do agree that with the inclusion of Kyoko, Makoto has a better chance at winning this. Still gonna go with Nick on this one.

@@delite3400 That is true but Makoto's Luck could just break it out right and there are other things I forgot to mention earlier like Phoenix's Airbending or Fire Powers from the anime and Makoto's Concentration which slows down his perception of time kind of like Blade Mode in Metal Gear Rising, his green hexagon bullets are like villager's pocket move in animal crossing and smash bros, and his skills that he can equip like cheat code for example, either way neither duo is going down without a fight.
I think people really underestimate the DR Crew. Kyoko is the ultimate detective from a heavy line of detectives. She was among the highest ranking members of her detective agency when she was just 13 years old, and she only got smarter from there. Physical fight? I'm sorry but no, DR didn't get debunked, Makky and Kyoko still take an edge. Kyoko was so smart that she was deemed a threat by someone whose entire talent is being able to perfectly analyze people immediately. And Kyoko also had to deal with Kyoka, a whole plant/human hybrid that wanted to kill her. Don't put DR down so easily.
Even with Bunks pretty sure they'd still win in a physical fight just due to the lower-end feats + Makoto's luck.
As far as IQ goes, they're smart, but Phoenix has been doing this as a job for years within a system built against him. Plus he has the magatama and Maya to communicate with the dead if truly backed into a corner.

Kyoko is extraordinarily gifted, like numerous other characters from Ace Attorney that Phoenix has faced, so this would be nothing new for him (although admittedly, Kyoko would be the toughest mind tank Phoenix would ever face). But I'm pretty sure Kyoko hadn't faced anything remotely related to Killer ghosts and spirit mediums/channelers. Phoenix also has the Magatama, so no outdated autopsy report shenanigans.
I'm pretty sure Phoenix has double the amount of physical feats than Makoto for a fist fight, while Makoto relies on downscales and Luck.
@@delite3400 Not spirits, but Kyoko has faced the supernatural before. But not like she really needs the deceased to make a solid case. I legitimately believe that Kyoko could solve any case Phoenix could without any cheap tricks involving the dead. In a real court case, Phoenix's Magatama would be immediately discarded and would never be taken seriously. The only way Phoenix stands a chance is either in a class trial or in his universe, but in any other situation, Kyoko outdoes him hard.
@@Zoroarkarceus123 Phoenix doesn't use the magatama in court (he could but doesn't), he relies purely on evidence. And still wins despite the evidence and witnesses being manipulated to make him lose.
How will they fight? And what will happened if someone lose?
Pretty sure the fight would start as a court case in which they solve a murder and the duo who fails to solve it gets executed by Monokuma.

@@jojogacha974 They have expressed interest in these types of matchups before like Light vs Columbo and it could be new and refreshing that can stand on its own plus they have used way more absurd characters before this.

I'm assuming this wouldn't be an actual fight and rather a trial. If this is the case, Wright and Maya would win without a doubt. If it's a fight, Wright would definitely win if he has MvC or Project X Zone scaling
If this "death battle" would be about who finds the killer first in the trial, I would give it to Nick and Maya as well. It would certainly be a case about Nick's out of the box thinking (and bullsh***ing) versus Kyoko's intellect but I think the sheer difference in experience from the Ace Attorney duo with its equally crazy world will win. And it's not like the first time Nick's life depended on him winning the case (looking at you Defense Culpability Act)
