    Still got one of these from the late 80s. Apart from the interesting experimental stuff, thx - this is a decent 800 msec digital delay and a Octaver 1up or 1oct. down range /Harmonizer. It is also able to do nice chorus/ flanger effects. So quite versatile and good quality. BOSS/Roland was neither cheap nor "faulty", even, or especially not in the 80s. Also got 2 RCL-10 Compressor/Limiter of the same series, that still work fine.

    So nice, I just ordered one from Japan. The sound of the low sample rate AD convertor + pitch shifting is astonishing.

      I love it.. I really wanna get the RDS 10 ~ it’s a bit rarer and more expensive too!

    Loved the modulation with the drums. Top idea - gonna see if I can do this with some other gear, these little boss units aren't cheap anymore! Cheers.

      They are actually pretty affordable on Reverb, however this and the overdrive units are priced the highest but for clearly good reasons.

    Bought a 2nd hand one in 1992 as a student. Used to play my geetar through it and modulate the pitch with a sequence from an earlier Yamaha PSS-480(?). Great fun.

    Cool video. Got myself one of these earlier this year (as well as a Yamaha Portasound, too!). Pretty cool box. The white whale for me though is the Boss RSD-10 (sampler-delay) which has a similar trigger-in function. Those are pretty hard to find. Autechre used these boxes quite extensively on stuff like Chiastic Slide (by cranking up the feedback on 100% wet signal, and sampling the recirculated chaos)

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Luke - I'd never heard of the RSD-10 but now i realllly want one haha! :D

      I've got one of the RSD-10s... but I'm not sure how best to use it. Any tips welcome!

      @@unexpectedbowtie Drum machine to trigger-input is pretty fun. You end up with delay patterns matching a drum pattern (instead of straight sequence of delays). AFAIK, you can ALSO alter the pitch of the delays via the pitch input.

    Another really characterful delay worth checking out is the Ibanez DE7, a very ugly pedal IMO but is really unique sounding. It's a digital delay, so you might say so what, right?!
    But, it has a wonderful sounding echo mode (tape emulator) and a totally unique analog diode filter that distorts in the most pleasing way with high feedback settings. It's still quite affordable too, it's about 20 years old, so not that cool... yet!

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good to know!! I love quirky delay pedals and will keep my eye out for the DE7! (I don’t think it looks too bad btw lol)

    Nice hearing another Scottish accent on gear. I got one of these ages ago but never really explored the input weirdness. I didn't even think of using a Euro oscillator/sequencer for the pitch. This is great. Just what I was looking for. I wonder if CV could be sent to the HOLD input too. Hmmm.

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ooo that's a great idea about CV into the HOLD input - gonna try it today! :D

    • @Yotunen
      @Yotunen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would require some sort of switch, from what i know of this function on the other units from the series. A relay of sorts, maybe, hooked to a gate output of your modular.
