Worth mentioning that most of these sites are just a couple to a few minutes walk from each other. The Botanic Gardens is more distant, with a bit of a stroll down the hill of the New Town, though whilst down there one can also take in the Stockbridge Colonies on Glenogle Road, Saxe Coburg Place, Circus Lane, Stockbridge Village, the Water of Leith walkway and Dean Village, with the Galleries of Modern Art also further along the walkway from Dean Village.
There is so much to experience within such a compact and often dramatic setting.
I love Edinburgh and take great delight in watching your videos. Thank you.

Do you have any other suggestions / favorite parts of the city that are away from the busiest areas of the city?

@@veraosmantseva6123 Aside from the Old Town and the commercial area of the New Town (Princes St., George Street, Queen Street), the busiest areas are typically the main roads leading in and out of the city. Anywhere between these is generally okay. My fave parts Marchmont, Sciennes, Morningside, Brunsfield, Polworth, Merchiston, all of which border on or are close(ish) to the Meadown, an 80-acre green space that divides the largely residential south side of the city from the Old Town. They are within walking distance of local amenities (Bruntsfield and Morningside are particularly good for shopping).
I also love Stockbridge, down the hill of the Newtown. It's main street has great shopping but all the side streets are very quiet. There are other communities including Inverleith (by the Royal Botanic Gardens, a short walk from Stockbridge) and Trinity, which is the next neighbourhood and closer to the water.
Once off the main roads Edinburgh is very quiet, even within the city centre. For example, beyond Queen Street and going down the hill to Stockbridge and Inverleith the streets are very quiet. Mind, the New Town is an expensive area.
What you choose will also be influenced by whether you are visiting or staying for a while. There will also be your comfort zone for cost.
Personally, I recommend near to the Meadows or close to Inverleith Park and the Botanic Gardens (the latter two are side by side). They are close to everything but also quiet.
It is worth noting that Edinburgh has more green space than any other UK city, with a 49% rating.
      I hope this helps.

No mention of any tartan shops, which is one the main reasons I want to go there

That was in East Princes Street Gardens! Pretty much between Scott Monument and the National Galleries of Scotland. Hope this helps!

    Hello.
We are planning to do this itinerary in one day. Do you think this is doable. Please let me know any other suggestions and tips which can make this list easy. I am not very particular about the order of the places.
    1. Arthurs’s seat - 45 to 60 minutes
    2. Edinburgh’s Castle
    3. Grass market via Victoria street - lunch
    4. Walk the Royal Mile
    5. St. Giles’ Cathedral
    6.Visit Hogwarts
    Thank you.

Your list is definitely doable in 24 hours. We’re not sure where you mean by Hogwarts though? There is a private school that Hogwarts is supposedly based off of but you’re not allowed to visit it.
