My Granda, Flight Sgt Johnny Miller was shot down that day. Walked for 6 weeks, got captured near the Spanish border. Liberated ironically on 17 April 1945.
I am only here today because of his pilot Hugh Crum, who preformed the perfect crash landing!!

If the family of Pat read this, my gt uncle Sgt Salmon flew on the second Augsburg raid on 25th February 1944. Unfortunately I don't have his logbook as he was killed in action a few months later. From his personal effects, he wrote he flew on this raid but not with his normal crew - that being with Sqn Ldr Hunter. So he must have flown as a last minute replacement which, again is unfortunate, wasn't recorded in the Sqns Operations book. As Pat was also in 'A Flight' and deputy, it kind of makes sense that my relative flew with Pat on that particular Operation. If you have Pat's logbook, would you mind having a look?
I did meet Pat at several reunions but I hadn't realised of this possibility which is frustrating as I could have asked him! He was a gentleman and very kind to me.
    Kind regards
