      HighReady To me that says he doesn't know what he is talking about completely ( not an authority ) . ' Not good for concealed carry ' ; not true . CC a Beretta 92 successfully for years .

    I owned both the Glock and the Taurus, I liked my Taurus so much, I gave the Glock to a friend of mine. Buy a Glock, you're just buying a name in my opinion. Yea I've seen all the videos of Glocks buried in mud, shooting underwater all the crap. Who treats a gun like that anyway? When I spend hard earned money on something, I take real good care of it, not bury it in the mud.........lol

      You're trippin..I just traded this gun in for a brand new gen 3 glock 17 and the glock is far superior to this gun.i always thought glocks were hype,I was WRONG

    I have owned a Taurus mod 99 AF around 20 years now, the finish still looks good,I've put about 5000 rounds through it without a hiccup.I bought this pistol because the dealer was out of Beretta's and have no regrets.

    It is a big gun but I carried one for close to 20 years under by suit jacket without anyone knowing it was there. But people just don't wear suits everyday as much anymore. I purchased mine back in the mid 1980's and it has ambi safety and a lanyard. Also as far as I know Taurus has always had the safety like the 1911 since right after taking over from Beretta on the Brazil military gun contract. Beretta is the one that changed the location of the safety by the request of the US government for the military contract if I remember my gun history right. One thing is for sure you just can't beat the PT92 for the price and the finnish is fine plus they are going to get banged up if you use it anyway. Plus, you can have it Cerakoted and then you don't have to worry about it anymore. That's what I did to mine after carrying it for almost 30 years and now it look better than ever!

    I have a Taurus PT 99, it was made in May of 1981 in Brazil. It has the same features as your Taurus PT 92, it only came with one magazine 15 round. Great gun and it has been very good on the type of ammunition that I put into it.

    I totally agree with what you said about what comes to mind when you hear 9mm. I think of one of these immediately.

    I purchased my first Taurus pistol in this series in the mid-1990s. Made in 1986 it was the PT 99, same as the PT 92 but with an adjustable rear sight. I now own a PT 92 made in the late 1990s. It has the de-cocker which the original did not have. Both pistols have always run flawlessly. I used the PT 99 to train for my license to carry and for qualifications.

    Have had mine for over 20 years. 99 version. No lazer rail. No decocker. No mag lock. Safety is on frame. Wood grips. 18 rd mags. Has lanyard. Shoots great. Two stove pipes in thousands of rounds with factory reloads. My wife with small hands shoots easily, and, terribly BETTER than me. Very accurate. Springs were supposed to fail, but mine never did. Fantastic gun. Cost over $400 back then, so great price now.

    I just subbed. I have a Taurus 92 it is a great hand gun and I know that I have put well over 3 or 4 thousand rounds threw it. I have had no problems with it at all. I pick it up from a pawn shop her in Alaska they had it for $350. When I looked at it I wanted them to field strip it for me and the sales person said that he did not know how to do that. With the maniger of the store over there watching I took the weapon apart for them. It was filthy looked like it had never been cleaned. After seeing that I offered $200 for it and at first the maniger said no. I put it back togather and went to leave and the maniger said that he would take it. After about an hour of cleaning she looked new again. It is a very good gun.

      Most gun shops will not clean a gun. It is the responsibility of the transfer-er/buyer. Which finish did you purchase? Stainless or black?

    One of the best handguns I've ever bought. Be warned it'll fit and feed a Beretta Mag, but will jam appropriately. If you use the standard Taurus mags the gun is meant for, the thing runs without stopping forever. I've put at least 4000 rounds through mine and it's still firing.

    @ NeverEnuffAmmo Great info. Being a Marine and using the Beretta as my side arm for 4 yrs I was a bit iffy on going with the Taurus but feel pretty confident after watching your review when i get the time to go pick one up i wont be disappointed.

    Good review! I had a PT99, same as a PT92 with addition of adjustable sights. It was made in 1985 and had an ambidextrous safety but no decocker. It was equally reliable and accurate.

    @bo7451 Glad the review helped, I love the M9/92 style pistol, I thinks it's the ultimate platform for the 9mm round. Glad u liked the Taurus, they're great guns, and $325 is a great price for one!

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo

    @datguy781 Yeah changing the mags was because Taurus changed over to a standard 17 round mag with a traditional mag release instead of the Beretta's 15 round mag back in '92 at the same time they changed the safety to a frame mounted safety because of their military contracts and consumer requests because it's a more traditional 1911 style safety compared to the Beretta's safety. If your used to 1911 pistols the Taurus feels better, but if your used to running a Beretta it will feel different

    I got the stainless steel version of this gun, my first gun i ever bought myself, but not the first i've shot. (that was a kit made 1911 .45, which i also now own)
    and i fucking love it. it looks beautiful as fuck, shoots spectacular, and is just a damn manly gun. people say taurus suck, i just laugh at them and walk away.

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yup ...... had it for years

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You have to modify the mags to get them to work because the notch in the mag is in a slightly different place on the two mags ...... but with a Dremel and 2 minutes it can easily be done

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @GunzCoty This pistol is lighter than a steel framed 1911, but is wider than a 1911 because of the grip and the double stack mag. So it depends on what makes a bigger difference to u, weight or size.

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo

    taurus never wore the safety on the slide, it has always been on the frame. I had both first production PT92 and PT100. both were frame mounted

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @JohnFromSpace Yeah Taurus bought out the Beretta factory in the 80's and have been manufacturing the 92 model since then using Berettas own specs, machines, supplies, and even the same people that worked for Bereetta were brought on to work for Taurus. Some people actually perfer the Taurus model over the Beretta because of some changes made to the pistol by Taurus that alot of people like, but I think their both equally excellent pistols.

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's my absolute favorite pistol. This is one of the guns I won't be selling or trading off for something else. Something about this pistol just fits perfectly, its accurate, comfortable and pretty. Even my Glock fails in comparison for me.

    Picked up the PT100 40 S/W one up from Buds for $475.00 and just waiting for the FFL transfer to go through. I carried a Berretta in the Army and when I was an armorer as a contractor I worked on the Berretta 9's a bunch and learned to love the weapon and its reliability. Thanks for this video because not to many reviews on you tube go into detail on this particular weapon.

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @JohnFromSpace Yeah Sigs run about $50 to $100 more than a Beretta new, and yeah between th Beretta 92 & Glock 17 the G17 is a little cheaper, but they're all 3 fantastic pistols, my tastes tend to lean towards steel or alloy for a full sized pistol & polymer for a compact, which is why I lean toward the Beretta or Sig for a full size & would lean toward a Glock or M&P for a compact, but thats all just personal preference, congrats on the G17 bro, you'll love it!!

    Great review! Folks kept on telling me to buy Glock handguns and no doubt they're awesome handguns, but I've always wanted something like the M9. I'm an Air Force vet and I know the M9 is the gun we use. I had a tight budget so I didn't want to purchase a brand new Beretta so I researched and saw a Taurus PT92, along with looking at your review. I shot both at a range (M9 and the older PT92 model I bought for $325) and they both shot great. Thanks for the review!

    just to say, i own one of these Pt 92's, it is a great gun for the money, don't shoot it everyday ,but for the money it is very accurate, buddy of mine has a beretta we field striped them down ,they were identical, not a carry gun ! if you want to save a bunch of money, give Taurus alook, you are right about the Beretta factory

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @TacticalGunChannel My brother in law has the stainless version, I helped him pick it out when I took him to get his first semi-auto pistol. Their great guns, like I said in the vid the only problem I have is with their blued finish, it looks great but it's a pretty thin finish, and doesn't hold up to wear very well, but I like the black guns so that's the one I got.

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @x16 If the safety is on the frame and it has the lanyard ring than it's probably a mid 90's model after they moved the safety to the frame but before they got rid of the lanyard.

  • @WStar4Life
    @WStar4Life 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree about what you said about Taurus factory finish. Any Taurus I get I always send it to Robar to get new finish. Got my PT-92 and PT-809C refinished by Robar.

    @NeverEnuffAmmo  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @nolanhistory77 Hey cool, and congrats on the new pistol. It's a great gun, alot of fun and a quality pistol. Thanks 4 watching, and glad the vid helped u out!

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @futuresolider96 That depends on the situation, I actually have both, I love the PT92 more overall, it's more accurate, a better looking pistol, and feels better in my hand, but the Glock is what I would grab if I needed a pistol that would keep putting rounds down range even in the worst conditions.

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @HeroCasey They're built at the same plant, by the same machines, and by the same people who used to build Beretta pistols. They were contracted to build Berettas before Taurus bought the building, machines and employeed the people, and officially bought the rights from Beretta to make a 92 pistol. with the exception of the position of the safety (which Taurus moved because consumers liked the 1911 style safety better) it is identical. Some just like Beretta better because of the name.

    I really agree with your assessments. I am a novice with competitive handguns (less than 2 years). I need a backup to my XDM. This is the 9mm I think of like the 1911 is to a 45. I will be purchasing this with your review as a solid basis along with other input. Thanks for the clean and clear review.

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You won't be, its a good solid pistol with some features even the 92fs doesn't have. It really is a great gun.

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thats a personal choice, they're equally as good, but the Taurus costs a little less and the Beretta has a little better finish

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @mgbfr4570 Well your wrong, they did buy the old beretta factory, Taurus, with the help of their then owners Bangor Punta (who also owned S&W which is why Taurus has all the rights to make exact copies of many of S&W's revolvers and pistols). Now they are currenly no longer in that original factory anymore as they have moved to a larger improved factory but they did indeed start making their PT92 with bereta equipment and beretta employees

  • @x16
    @x16 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @NeverEnuffAmmo the safety is on the frame. and yes it has the lanyard ring. its a very great gun i have put well over 1000 rounds and not once has it jammed or failed to eject. another thing is that the taurus emblem is following the title

    When I think of 9mm I think of the M&P that was my first new gun and the first gun I ever purchased for myself. ( Had hand me downs before ) I have over 3,000 rounds through it with less then a dozen miss fires. I'm talking Tulu ammo, Winchester white box bulk crap, everything I could find cheap for the range short of re loads. Eats hollow points no issues. Bought the Compact version to go with it.
    That being Said, for a Large gun the Beretta design is now incredible. Great rugged design.

    I would pick a Taurus over a Beretta any day. They may be "clones" but I think they are clones with improvements, and at a better price too. Love my PT101 and have no plans to replace it.

    Was tempted on one of these when they went on sale for $299.99 new a while back (iirc). More interested in the all stainless version though, but I HATE the overly shiny frame and controls. I wish Taurus still made the "Combat" version with the all matte grey finish.

    My T92 was made in 1986. It has the frame mounted safety, but no decocking safety. I think they added the decock in 1994.
    If the safety was supposed to be on the slide, John Moses Browning would have put it there... :)
    The T92 is about the best shooting 9mm ever made...

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @killamilla45 The difference between a PT92 & a PT99 is that the PT 99 has adjustable sights, where as the PT92 has fixed sights like the beretta it's modeled after. Other than that they are identical, that is the onlt difference.

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @brokenChair1 I didn't say it was better than Beretta, I said I chose it over a Beretta, it is better for me, it has features I perfer over the Beretta, and as far as quality goes, its made by the same people, in the same factory, on the same machines, with the same materials and by the same designs as beretta so outside of a couple features like a full length guide rod, a picatinny rail & a frame mounted decocker safety instead of a slide mounted one, they are identical

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo
    @NeverEnuffAmmo  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @pray4chicken The only way it wouldn't fit is if the holster was made for a different trigger guard than what the gun had since some Beretta's have the rounded trigger guard and some have the "hooked" trigger guard for your support hand index finger, (beretta M9 = rounded M9A1 = hooked) and the Taurus is the same way, some of the older ones had a rounded trigger guard where as the newer ones have a "hooked" trigger guard. Other than that the 2 guns are identical as far as a holster is concerned

    @NeverEnuffAmmo  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not at all. I have Glocks, Sigs, S&W's, AR's, AK's and alot of other guns and I can safely say this one is my favorite. It's hands down the best pistol I own and with the frame mounted safety, full length stainless guide rod, picatinny rail that comes standard, not on an A1 model and a smotther trigger ....... yeah I'd say they improved the design. The only thing about Beretta that is a step up from this one is the bruniton finish.

  • @NeverEnuffAmmo

    This is the first gun I purchased, after becoming a civilian. Why? Because it was cheaper than an M9/92-F, but looked and functioned just like it. Agree with your assessment of the utility of this pistol (home defense, range). When I got my CCW, I switched to a PT-111. Hated it. Switched to a Kahr K9. Sold that PT-92 years ago, but still have a fondness for it.

    @scb0421 Yeah I'm not the biggest fan of the Taurus polymer pistols, had a couple, and they just didn't seem to be as accurate or as well made as their steel and alloy framed semi-autos or their revolvers. And good luck with the 92c, those things are hard to find, and usually end up running as much as a new PT92. They're rare, and I'd love to get my hands on one. Thanks 4 watchin bro!

    Thanks for the great review bro. I've been trying to pick between a 1911 or one of these I found at an Academy store here for a great price. Like you said though, the finish on them isn't the greatest, and despite the Taurus being brand new in the case, it looks used just from people at the counter handling it.

    @chrismc410 Any gun can be concealed, I know people who CC full sized 1911's, but the pistol wasn't designed to be a CCW, and it's not a pistol the most people would recommend for a CCW.

    Great review, spot on of someone who owns this model. The finish is not the best it will wear out easily and the mags are not the best in my opinion. However the gun itself is a work horse, i have no doubts when i pull that trigger and to me that is what makes a good gun.

    And they bought Baretta's patent for the PT92. When people say it's a clone...in reality it's a Baretta just under new ownership IN BRAZIL 😁👍🏼 This will be my next long term purchase and a beauty if I might add.
