Great comparison! I recently checked out and test-drove both cars, and in the end, the Subaru Crosstrek won me over. I’m heading to the Subaru dealership tomorrow to pick it up! From New Zealand😊
These cars aren't comparable until you do a side by side comparison and find that the Crosstrek holds its own. The Rav 4 is legendary and one can't question its virtues through the many years it's been around. The Crosstrek has really cool features I call touches that make it stand out. i wonder after Honda-Nissan marriage if Toyota and Subaru will join in wholly matrimony as well. Thanks for the review! Time will tell.
Definitely enjoying your content. I just bought a RAV4 Hybrid XLE in Magnetic Grey a few days ago. Traded in my Accord Hybrid for it, and so far it hasn’t disappointed. Your videos on the RAV really helped in my purchase. The Crosstrek Wilderness or Forester was on my list as well, but the lack of hybrids in the Subaru lineup ultimately led to me crossing them off my list. The CRV hybrid was a close choice, but ultimately the lack of a spare tire and price led me to the RAV again. Subscribing to your channel. Keep up the great content!👍
Congrats on the new ride, and thanks for your support and continuing to watch my videos. I’m very new to the RAV4 platform, but it’s been fun to experience it so far. I may even consider the 2026 if it is refreshed depending on how this year goes with the current one and what changes are made. It’s just fun to explore and get to know a new car/platform lol. 🤪
@ i hear ya! I’m still familiarizing myself with the RAV. The owners manual is twice the thickness of my Accord’s😂! But I think it’s due to the many trim levels the RAV has, compared to what Honda offered. Definitely will miss my Accord since it was an excellent ride, but ultimately I needed more capability and the RAV just checked all the boxes.👍👍 I can’t wait to take it on it’s first major road trip.
Crosstrek all day. I have a ‘22 Limited and love it. I like the smaller size but still plenty of room inside for myself, wife and two kids and some stuff in the hatch. It’s a beast in the snow and….well, it’s quick enough to not be dangerous in traffic when loaded with my family and needing to merge, pass, etc, and when it’s just me in the car, it’s quick enough to have a tiny bit of fun. Great little car.
As a former owner of Subarus and a current owner of Toyota, I consider Toyotas of better quality. Sometimes one gets excited by the design of a car, but I would put quality first.
You know another cool thing that no one does.. is testing out the standard AWD systems on all these cars in snow. Eveyone tests out the advanced off road settings all the time (like X Mode) but most people will never use Xmode. What would be cool is to see videos where different cars battle the snow without special off road settings. And see which ones do better. Like a Toyota rav 4 vs the sabaru cross trek or outback.. just standard drive. Which one has the better daily AWD system. Sabaru will win it but it’d be cool to see how different cars perform in normal mode in normal snowy conditions.
700 pound roof top tent capacity on the Crosstrek. 3500 pound towing and 9.3” ground clearance turned me to the Crosstrek Wilderness . Wish it had the front camera like the Outback and Forrester Wilderness.
Subaru needs to make a slightly bigger sized Crosstrek. Same style and design but sized closer to the RAV4 would be a game changer. Ya, there is the forester and outback, but it's not the same. Crosstrek XL!
Wouldn't a comparison between the Rav 4 and Forester been a bit closer since they are around the same size & price? Maybe you can do one of those next. 😁
Haha, you’re right. But some people do compare these two. Here’s a side by side comparison. th-cam.com/video/DWpOnzPlYRg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1cGTLVTNhijrtnd_ And here’s my thoughts on owning both… th-cam.com/video/h8qJ-rbGcmc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6OeRDop103dJMGlp Hope these help!!
I was surprised how similar in size they looked sitting side by side. When shopping, I did consider the Crosstrek, but if I had purchased a Subaru it would have been a Forester. It then became a choice between a RAV4 hybrid and Venza, and I went with the Venza. Do you know why your RAV4 hybrid was built in Japan, because of the SE trim or sunroof or both?
Yeah, for sure! I just think it’s cool to see how vehicles look stacked up next to each other. I’m not sure why it was built there, but I sought a Japanese built one out that met my other couple desired criteria. Thanks for watching!!
It’s technically a one size larger crossover. It’s about a foot longer but similar width and height. I shared a video yesterday that’s a wilderness vs. my rav4 if you’re interested.
I traded my premium crosstrex for a rav 4 xle ,I love my heated steering wheel in the rav and I love the power lift gate, I like the larger cargo space in the rav and just feel like it feels much heavier and solid, nobody liked talking to me on the phone In My crosstrex they said it was too loud and annoying ,and say the rav is a 100% quieter the rav is a much smoother ride you don't feel every bump as much as the crosstrex.i did like the app for the remote start better in the crosstrex. So far I'm not sorry I made the trade..I had a toyota corolla that took me well over 200,000.00 miles and I'm sure the rav will do the same...I think it all boils down to me being a toyota girl over Suburu ,they are both good vehicle's.
It’s mostly meant as a joke. I don’t mean homeless people who are in actual need but more like criminals who actively choose to harm others or steal property. Calling them a bum not in the homeless sense but more so in the sense of they’re not choosing to better their situation without hurting others. It’s definitely not an issue where I’m at, but when I was visiting my brother in a larger city I had seen and heard stories of people who more so rebel against society and choose to vandalize peoples cars. I think the joke for me has more stemmed from that. But I have never intentionally meant for it too offend anyone, especially someone is actual need who’s been dealt a tough hand without being able to better their situation.
Two extremely different cars that don't have much to do with each other. You can't compare apples to oranges. But you can make a video about it for the naive.
People compare these cars all the time, lol. They’re definitely not apples to apples like you mentioned but I do think a lot of people compare cars they like. Not always cars within the same exact sizing class. Thanks for watching!

That’s awesome! And thanks for watching and sharing your experience from across the planet!!

That’s a great thought! I’ll keep that in mind.
ok, so both do have a spare tire, so they are in the running

The only thing I don't like about the Crosstrek is the absence of a power lift gate on the Limited trim. It should be an option at least.

These two would be on my short list. Both are no brainers.
Crosstrek is awesome…. Cheaper, best AWD and fun to drive , very safe for Massachusetts weather

Does this one have a spare tire? If not, that's a complete and total show stopper for me
I would love to see a Crosstrek with the FA24 turbo

@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 is the Outback bigger than the RAV4?

I believe Venza is more quiet, comfortable more luxurious than Rav4. Right?

Love your channel. I noticed you always mention "bums" siphoning fuel.Guessing you mean homeless folks? Anyway, Is this and issue where you live?

I would think it should be compared to the corolla cross, but that one definitely doesn't have a spare tire
wonder what the coming subaru hybrid will be like
That’s a good question! The Forester Hybrids are suppose to be starting to arrive in April from what I’ve been told.
hate the roof rails.. it's hard enough clearing snow off the roof of any car, can just imagine with rails. They just don't think about these things
Crosstreks are great but a little small. It compares better with the Toyota Corolla Cross.
Very true. Thanks for watching!
subie subie doooo
Too expensive, drop the price a few thousand dollars. No hybrid option
