Beautiful and graceful...still she shines. I wish I could've been there to oversee it. P.S.: Us in the Philippines are still awaiting to welcome her with open arms if ever the time comes that she would go worldwide once again....someday.
So amazing yep I’m seeing if I can see her and it’s a crime she’s not in the wicked movie with the tech now they could have taken off years like come on there’s no topping idina
She IS in the Wicked movie, her and Kristen both are. Her playing Elphaba would not have worked at all. Think of all of the hate the Rent movie got for casting the orignal cast. Plus, if I'm being honest... Idina, although she originated the role, is not even in my top 10 Elphaba's. She sounds great on the album, and shes absolutely had some great performances... but even here, she did the typical "YOU SING" at the higher more challenging parts of the song. She just don't always have it when singing this song live.
@@Heavilybrokn unfortunately due to a mixture of technique and just age she doesn't have the same range she had twenty years ago when she was in wicked. Even with some of the newer videos that aren't cams she sounds different.
@@Heavilybrokn did you really have to include the not top Elphaba thing that was a little extra don’t you think that really could set Idina Menzel fans off so next time I wouldn’t really say that in a comment because you really could get hate comments of that so just think about that next time
@@jaseplayz219 A) I AM an Idina fan, and B) it has been two weeks and the only reply was someone who had a similar thought process. So I think it’s safe to assume that my opinion on her abilities to sing an INCREDIBLY vocally challenging song the same as she did 20+ years ago is valid and again… just my opinion. As far as her not being in my top, just because she was the first doesn’t mean she’s the best. There are well over 100 actresses who have been in the time I’ve 20 years. Michael Crawford was the first Phantom but that doesn’t mean that he automatically needs to be everyone’s favorite. She’ll always have my respect for being the first!
Haha. It is quite interesting isn’t it?? 😂 So basically she came out at the beginning of the show all glammed up and wearing a beautiful dress and accessories. And then throughout the show, she started taking layers off as well as her hair extensions and accessories. By the finale when she sang Defying Gravity, she had exposed her undergarments as you see at the beginning of the video. In essence, she had stripped down her insecurities and imperfections in front of us (as well as clothing) and showed us her vulnerability as a performer. My interpretation of this was that when you strip away all the glitz and glamor, this is who she is…..a simple human with flaws and insecurities like everyone else.
Okay I'm gonna be honest, I think Cynthia Erivo is super talented, but I'm not sure if she's vocally right to play Elphaba. I think she should've played Celie in "The Color Purple" movie musical instead of Fantasia. I know Idina Menzel is 52, but I think she should've played Elphaba in the movie and use makeup and visual effects to de-age her like Sigourney Weaver in "Avatar: The Way of Water". I also think it all should be one movie instead of two and a couple of other castings I'm not sure about like Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey and Michelle Yeoh, I would've used Amanda Seyfried, Aaron Tveit and Meryl Streep for those roles, but that's my opinion to please be respectful.
You couldn’t be more incorrect. Cynthia is absolutely perfect for Elphaba and her voice suits the role perfectly. I can assure you the rest of the cast will equally blow us away!
@@andrewewart7903 Maybe I will, maybe I won't. But right now, my mind's set up and there's a frigging thing anyone can say or do to change it, including you so back off!
Wow!!! This is amazing. Seeing her at the Belasco next month. Love her. 💚💚💚💚
Incredible!!!
I love this so much
