It is a really fun game! Range is a combination of your weapon range and how much energy the target releases. So you can silently cruise around or fire all of your guns and everyone can then see/shoot back at you.
@@Dirt1061 small error here, weapon range is a non-factor. Instead range is all about how good your ability to detect the target is and how big the enemy signature is. And I mean, makes sense, what is gonna limit the range of a railgun in space after all? :p Only missiles have a limited range, but thats because of how effective point defense is: missiles shot from too far away just get shot down before reaching anything
DFC has the potential to grow lore wise like 40k. There is plenty of room to grow. Each admiral from each faction has plenty of potential for their own stories, there are a few noted battles in the little lore that are known, each having their own potential. Word of the day: potential.
I got suggested to this video by TH-cam because I was watching Star Wars Armada videos (which is another tabletop game). NEVER knew this game existed until now. The models for this game are incredible and I think would mix well with Star Wars Armada
I really enjoy it. Especially Dropzone commander. Its so cheap that I have two large armies for Scourge and UCM and two smaller Resistance/Kalium and PHR armies. And the big seller to me was the combination of the two games of Dropzone and Dropfleet and the fact that it is really easy to get large amounts of fun terrain, which was always an issue I had with Warhammer. Paying mortgage rates for the models and then again for the terrain. About £35 can buy you terrain, two decent sized armies a rulebook, dice, measure tool and so on for a full enjoyable game.
the real nice twist that I like about the Dropfleet setting is that while humanity are still the "good" guys (Shaltari want to use everyone else like pawns in their internal conflicts, the scourge is, well, the scourge, and the resistance isnt a faction per say but remnants of humanity that failed to flee and as such arent a proper faction in itself, leaving only the PHR as the potential moral good), they are clearly the agressors in this conflict. Its not the usual "humanity defending itself", its humanity losing, getting real pissed, and going on a rampage to retake what it once lost. Which isnt a situation you see often in sci-fi. also fun lil thing, it seems like the UCM ship design was HEAVILY influenced by the Automated Dreadnought of Stellaris, most blatant with the UCM dreadnought itself.. an inspiration they seem to embrace since on their website you can see they made an automated dreadnought scenario featuring the stellaris ship (and they also made an ether drake model)
And the PHR was like "Delay the Reconquest, we aren't ready yet, lets attack with overwhelming force" and UCM went "No, TOO AANGRY HOORAH KILL THEM ALL"
@@thorveim1174 I don't get why the UCM thinks "We tried putting a gun to your head and drag you back with us and you fired on us to escape, everything is your fault!"
@@Waywardpaladin to be fair, the PHR utterly gutted the fleet sent after them, a fleet that felt sorely missing as soon as the Scourge arrived (on top of all the people that fled and took a lot of warships with them as well). Basically, if the PHR people didnt go on to run from what was, at the time, an unproven threat, the blow of the scourge invasion could have been softened (dont thing humanity would have won, but they would have taken way less losses if they werent already weakened by then). And overall, no one likes defectors when trouble shows on the horizon :p
@@thorveim1174 Actually, it turns out if the PHR hadn't left, the Scourge and humanity would've mutually crippled themselves as the Shaltari planned and then the space hedgehogs would've killed both species :P
Funny. According to info I have found, DFC was bought by TT from Warhawk Games and the DFC rules were made by same guy who wrote the tabletop Battlefleet Gothic rules. 😅
I was a backer when they released the first edition of drop fleet commander. Sadly it went on my pile of shame due my work and family. I'm planning to make a channel in the future to cover this awesome game. Thanks for reminding me about such an underrated game. Cheers.
I recently got the 2 player starter for Dropfleet and last year I did the same for Dropzone because my dad and I are into sci-fi and gaming, so we decided to get into it. We haven't played any games of either one yet as we gotta read up on the rules and stuff. As someone who use to play 40k and always got dunked on because I played Chaos Space Marines(not the good ones that are actual traitor marines, I mean the ones who are apparently cultists cosplaying as them) and after reading through the stats and what they do plus looking at what I can find on wikia sites the armies/fleets are pretty balanced with each other with the UCM being a jack of all trades while the other factions focus on some form of niche that while does require a little planning are still good for pick up and play which is a lot more then I can say for anything GW puts out, especially since TTCombat doesn't really do erratas, they actually playtest their games more importantly they don't release a new book that is either already outdated or will be in a few months.
I have been trying to get people into DZC since it came out under Hawk Wargames. I really like how DFC looks, never bought more than the original DZC 2 player kit though.
Warhammer isnt over rated but its definately not for everyone. Even I have fallen out with it in recent years. Loving Dropzone Commander and looking forward to getting into this.
That and warhammer heavily fell off ever since they decided to move the plot foward again in my opinion... god I hate the primaris, and I dont even play space marines... that and when it comes to the game itself, you need some deep pockets and the willingness to spend more every time rules change, which is fairly often

Just joined Dropzone. Now hearing that Dropfleet is about dropping units on planet I want to join this one too.

Andy Chambers, yes!
This and Team Yankee are two things I wanna start playing. Already pissed off with GW and their highway robbery prices.

The Vega 4 thing was an issue because a bunch of people stole ships and what not in order to go to Vega 4. Also some fire ended up being exchanged
It’s a really good game. TT resin is bloody nightmare. The plastics are brill.

Thanks for the info
