Ontario Fishing Adventure 2023

Just got back from our annual fishing trip in Ontario, Canada. It was great, especially the fact that my 88-year-old friend Dick Manly was able to make the trip. Dick has been battling cancer. Dick has fished all over the world and was a forester for years and a wonderful wood carver. Now I'm not the most religious person, but Monday night my friend and fishing buddy Bob Herbst, former Assistant Secretary of the Interior, said grace at the evening dinner in the lodge. Bob ended the prayer by asking the lord to look out for Dick and bring him luck in the following days. Well, the next morning Dick caught the fish of a lifetime., a 50-pound, 51-inch muskelunge(Musky). The "fish of 10,000 casts" as it's known is notoriously elusive, making the massive fish an even bigger prize when one finally strikes a lure. We all wish Dick the best and that he is back with us next year with that smiling face. You can see Dick and the fish at the 5:52 mark.
