    I partied with Amish people once. It was weirdly one of the coolest parties I have ever been to. My friend lived out in the country and his neighbors were Amish. He had a birthday party and they showed up in full force. You haven't lived until you partied with the Amish. I swear they go so hard but, like, respectfully. They were just a good ass time. I was smoking weed out of a corn cob pipe with a guy and he told me he doesn't worry about DUI's cause he sits down in the buggy and the horse just takes him home while he sleeps. I'm telling you, I have never talked about wooden furniture while listening to obscure early 2000's pop music before. It was a weird night, but good weird.

    5. “He kept speeding up and wouldn’t let me round him”

      Your using fallacious logic in extrapolating him exxagerating a situation to a supervisor somehow equates to a systemic problem in that detachment. There's 4 cops on scene and only ones lying...to another cop..his supervisor...to try and more easily justify his actions of getting his car scratched. They have bodycam footage. Nobody's being wrongfully imprisoned for that lmao. It's why we have court. And your basing your assumption that it's common on nothing but maybe 2 videos you've seen over a few months. Just like one might assumr that gay people are all predators, theyre wrong, but they feel confidentnin that because they see 2 or 3 examples of it being the case. 2 out of dozens of thousands is inconsequential. It's the lying that makes this extraordinary and why we watch and are appalled by this video.
      This would be like seeing a video of a subway worker spitting in a sandwich and then assuming 50% of sandwiches made are spat in. No. Nobody's talking about the 99.9% of sandwiches made normally. The reason we are seeing this is because it's extraordinary.
      Doesn't mean he shouldn't be dealt with harshly. Doesn't mean that dirty cops aren't a massive problem we face as society. They are just far rarer than mad eout to be, during to numerous checks and balances that do a very good job of preventing that behavior to begin with.

      Horses that get loose can find their way home, as can ones set on a path home. They're intelligent and very trainable animals.
      There was a story in Indiana quite a few years back of a girl driving their cart home got killed by a stray bullet from a hunter, and the horse just kept walking till it got home. The parents found her becuase they saw the horse take the cart up to the usual unhitching spot, but it just stood there with no one unhitching the horse.

He set up that man from the start to incriminate him, and the only thing that may help his case is that body cam footage.

      Traffic laws are an issue. That horse won't stop at an intersection, and it also can't be trusted to stay on the right side of the road the entire time. But that also doesn't excuse the cop lying either.

    • @devonesq.7533
      @devonesq.7533 2 ปีที่แล้ว +193

      according to what i've read, this is a pretty average occurrence. amish men usually get smashed, and just hop in the buggy, and the horse takes them home.
      all the cops did was spook the horse, and make it drive into a ditch. the horse knows what to do, and looking at the guy in the buggy, probably does this every weekend.
      the cool thing about horses, is despite their peanut brain, they're pretty smart animals. they know where home is and how to get there.

    • @salemcrow5078
      @salemcrow5078 2 ปีที่แล้ว +68

      @Veronica I mean, assuming there's a decent amount of Amish people in the area who use horses and stuff, they're probably used to occasionally seeing one and they'd know to avoid it. Plus the horse probably knows well enough/was trained to stay away from cars. Really the problem could've been pretty easily solved by just escorting the buggy home or getting someone to help do it.

    DUDE THAT LOOKS LIKE A SWARTZENTRUBER BUGGY.... If you aren't familiar with the Amish, the Swartzentrubers are the batshit insane fundie branch of the Amish church that doesn't allow any sort of passenger windows on their buggies. These were very obviously kids on Rumspringa, the guy looked like he had a female passenger who, lets be real, is probably the girl he's been courting to marry. They were just having some fun without getting smitten to hell and these cops decided to stop them on a road with no one travelling besides themselves then escalate.
    Amish homies are literally just 10 years behind everyone else as far as sheltering/dealing with cops and trauma goes. This event most likely fucked them up more than it should have.

      I live in this area. If it were a schwartzentruber buggy it wouldn't have a reflector on it or any kind of indicator such as a slow moving triangle on the back. You're making a lot of incorrect assumptions here.

    Also see how calmly the cop lied and made up a story to save himself, that was pure routine, as they do this ALLLLLL the time, even now WITH body cams. They can't rid themselves of that tradition.

    Fun fact: In Ontario this wouldn’t be illegal because here a DUI can only be issued if you are operating a motor vehicle. So a drunk paralyzed man using his motorized wheelchair would be breaking the law but this man wouldn’t since the buggy is horse drawn. He still might be caught for public intoxication though I’m not sure.

    Cutting off a horse, depending on the state is illegal to do and) is animal cruelty because it spooks the horse. Many states a horse has more rights than drivers & pedestrians. Cops mad he was on cruise control.

    Why would you literally say "He'll go home. The horses know how to get home." then a few minutes later essentially brake check them with your car?? Unless the horses are drunk too this seems like the safest way to get home while drunk aside from calling an Uber LOL. If anything that little tactical blocking maneuver made the situation less safe
