I always wonder why the specs on the outcome are rarely given . It would be good to know the width of the finished hat and circumference and how it fits a 22 inch head. What is the length ? Do the stitches get stretched out or are they intact as well as what yarn was used. What the stitch length. What is the fiber content of the yarn and how much was used ? I have to say the double video was hard to watch especially because it is speeded up. Made me dizzy !

    Is this on a speedster?

      Yes! 72/72 cylinder/ribber, 1/2 pitch.

Do you have to use ribber? Also, what weight yarn did you use? Could you use dk? Sport weight?
I want to buy a machine and am not sure if I should get the bumblebee or the speedster. The speedster is more versatile but I want to be sure it makes adult size hats.

It definitely will produce adult sized hats. Can also loosen the tension for a larger head. I bought a speedster first, then bumblebee and sold the BB pretty quickly. It uses sock weight yarn. With the higher needle cylinders dk is a no go.

Rather than take your word for it fitting an adult head it would be good to know the actual dimensions and specs and whether the 'fit' means the stitches are stretched and tight. And what tension or stitch length is used to achieve your result. Also does the Speedster or Bumblebee take large hook needles . How does the Bumblebee 5" diameter or extra half inch on the machine translate into the width of the hat. So how many stitches to the inch do you get. With the larger hooks, I can use a sport weight on my Autoknitter on both cylinder and ribber on the higher needle counts (72 and 80) but only with the cylinder for DK as the ribber struggles . I do wish when posting a video that it included more of the specs or info on the finished product

I am going to buy a csm but I mainly want to make hats. I’m really confused as to whether the speedster can make adult hats (I’d rather get a speedster because it’s more versatile) but everyone says it would be much easier to do on the bumblebee. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you join the erlbacher group on Facebook, there is a ton of info and helpful people. Also, calling Kim @ erlbacher is invaluable. She knows the ins and outs and can guide you. Hundreds (at least) of ppl make adult hats on the speedster!

Thanks for this great Video. I have one question: what does tension 9:1 mean? How often do I have to turn the knob? 9 rounds or 9 clicks? I am a little bit confused...

On my machine, it means 9 threads are showing and the 1 mark is in front.

I just steam to even out the stitches after running them down and closing.
