Some interesting choices. Can't complain about Craigellachie as I like them both the same although the 17 has more elegance. Cheers Jeremy. Roll on 2025. WT
Oh my, just opened that very same bottle on Christmas eve which I had picked up on a trip to East coast last summer. Fantastic, tropical sweetness, waxy, some bourbon oak in the finish, simply well done that is Craigellachie 17. I agree with your take on the 13 with a bit more sherry. The 13 is always a staple for me and now 17 to enjoy.
Great list, i'm looking forward to that Lagavulin video because i still see older releases of the 12 kicking around my area - 2014s and 17s to be precise.
Great lists and I'm keen to watch the Laga 12 comparison on the whisky rant. I've been rewatching the older episodes and you guys have come so far with the quality and set up. Good stuff guys 👍🏻
Nice WOTY choice! I was able to snag a bottle when it was on sale online earlier this year for $140++. Regular price here in BC is $205+ 😲 It was one of my favs this year though for sure. I live 45 mins from Sons of Vancouver. I've put it off long enough - I'm going to visit them next week and see what all the hub-bub is about. I've never seen their stuff on shelves or in bars so have never tried them.
That ardbeg sounds insane and you're reminding me I've still never had the 17 year Cragallachie, just not sold locally and I never think to add it to an order.
Interesting pick - The Lagavulin 8. I tried this and was very impressed. Picked up a bottle at £34. Happy New Year Jeremy. Great review and it sounded great at 1.25 speed! Clear diction.
Great video. Surprise pick for whisky of the year. Price has jumped up for this botlle unfortunately in the Netherlands and is now north of €110. Have a great new year!
Can't argue with a deal. But here's my question: would it still be your whisky of the year if we hadn't seen the insane discount in the last month? If it was still $180-$200+? If not, what would have been your second place for whisky of the year? =D
@@Hexagonal_Crank Yeah for sure, I decided on it before the recent discount. I originally paid $165 and thought that was perfectly justified for the quality. I think Lagavulin 8 is a great very available bottle. I would love to name Signatory's Edradour single cask 10 woty but I don't think every market gets it. Currently have cask 506 and it's fantastic :)
Seems most are a fan of Craigellachie 17, but did not see many people praise it until it was getting discounted heavily here and Alberta. Enough so, that I picked up 2. I would take the Two Brewers release 45 over the SOV Rum, simply because of the amount of money it takes to get a bottle to an Ontario home vs the #45. Also, the CC 18 and the Gretzky single oat are in there as well for me.
@@peterwhite507 Two Brewers 45 was fantastic. I heard a few snobs trashed the CC18! I thought it was excellent. I should have made an alternative grain category and given it to Gretzky :)
@@roscoepcoltrane23 I think the 10 year old is still great value. The committee releases are expensive, the 19's are very overpriced in my opinion, and what's the new 17 priced at?
