I was stationed there from 1974-1977. I was with the 12th engineer M.A.B's. From the video there have been many upgrades done to the base. When I was there there was only a single shack there at the entrance for guard duty and no cover, no gate. I miss it and the volks marches, black forest, nierstien and it's catch of bone's, October festivities which I loved going to in worms, mainze, Frankfurt, wiesbaden, miss the wine and coke drink's, Yeager schnitzel ( misspelled ) , the castle's, especially the swan stine castle, many, many good memories and good people, working with the farmer's picking grapes. I wish I could turn back time loved being there.
@@2963419 no, I was transferred to the 101st. airassault in Kentucky. I was there when we did the span of the Rine River earning the title " RIVER RAT'S ".
That’s crazy my grandfather was the CSM stationed out there at time and me and my grandma was out there with him from 2005-2008 , I miss that base so much , the commissary was my first job, the bowling alley & the gym were hang out spots and the movie theater right beside the PX store 😢❤
Not Air Force... Army base home to such units as the 123rd Main Support Battalion (the last of such units in the entire military). That was the unit who was ordered to clean up and shut it down, I should know I was one of the last to leave. MIghty Main

so sad that they are rebuilding this area to a industrial area... but since the army left its deserted :(
