    Hey mate I’ve got 30k so spend on starting a business from scratch. I’ve been in the industry for over a decade but have decided to start a business and want to get all the tools straight up before I start building clients. I thought if I got this stand on I could maximise the amount of lawns I can do to quickly pay off the loan as I will pay per job. I currently work fulltime as a head gardener so I will have time in the Arvos/ weekend to build the business, then slowly drop to part time with my current job. Do you think this is a good strategy ? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks mate!

      Hey Jackson, it really depends on what size lawns you are doing? The standers are great for limited access with wide open spaces. I would say the sweet spot is 500sqm to maybe up to 2000sqm. It’s a super efficient machine for this kind of stuff, anything bigger really needs a bigger deck. I would always encourage keeping costs as low as possible while establishing your business. A good mower, Honda 216, blower, sniper and multi tool kit will get you cracking. Over time as cashflow increases start adding more equipment. The great thing is you’ve got the experience necessary being in the industry currently. Also an important thing to consider is transportation with green waste. This will be a big component in the efficiency of your routes if you’re also doing gardening and carrying green waste. Hope that helps in some way. 👍🏼

    Hows it on hills with the fuel tank on side?

    • @jimsmowing-oxenford1826
      @jimsmowing-oxenford1826  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Aaron, doesn’t go too bad mate. Of course it’s not a low centre of gravity by design, but the tank doesn’t seem to impede it. You’ve just got to be conscious of your approach to hills and certain angles. Great machine, the more I use it the more I like it. Especially at the moment in SEQ with the crazy growth. I also recently put the 36 wheels and tyres on it which made a big difference to turning and minimising tearing of the grass.

    16k worth the investment would you say ? been a few months now

    • @jimsmowing-oxenford1826
      @jimsmowing-oxenford1826  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mate, I would say yes! But the key is to ensure you have a plan in place regarding transportation. This is the only drawback if you are still carrying out gardening jobs. You really need to assign a day for stander/ZT jobs so you can have space set aside for waste. My goal will be to build my business around the stander as much as possible. However at some stage I will look at purchasing a truck where I can side load or carry it in the double box of my trailer.

      @@jimsmowing-oxenford1826 love to hear that. Are there trailers that can hold the stander ?

    • @jimsmowing-oxenford1826
      @jimsmowing-oxenford1826  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dootguy5011 there certainly are mate. It will just generally add to the length of your trailer obviously and also a greater tow call weight. These guys make great trailer and there will be some examples on their page. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100067495737271&mibextid=LQQJ4d

      @@jimsmowing-oxenford1826 hey mate thanks for that really appreciate it. I’ve been trying to find out who builds the trailers for Jim’s. Because I’m looking at buying a franchise from Jim’s mowing but I’m just trying to calculate everything first. To get a rough idea of what I’m looking at. And I really want to get a stand on straight away because that will really help me to focus on larger properties. That was my idea behind it. Just curious to see how it goes 🤣

      @@dootguy5011 good stuff mate! Dale & Jo are the best at JDS CustomFab. They’re based in Yatala, Qld. All I can say is you get what you pay for. There’s cheaper trailers but the workmanship can be poor and always ensure they are fully galvanised, not just dipped. Mines rock solid and I’m confident it will last many years into the business.
