Ruins! Oh, a lake existed there, how cool! I think they're Jacks too (mushrooms). I haven't seen them quite that big though. Beautiful hike, awesome stone houses...thumbs up!
Finding that stand of mushrooms was like finding gold in them thar hills!!!!!!! Spectacular!! What a gorgeous place, Wolf's Hollow! Thanks for taking us along!
Real nice video again, Cliff. If only we could convert the Cicada Killer wasps to Lantern Fly Killers, that would be awesome for the environment. Maybe they're working on something
It is nice to see you in Chestwr County. I live in Downingtown. I think you may want to check out the huge abandoned trestle bridge here. There are a bunch of trails and ruins.
Beautiful hike-thank you! We have a retired neighbor, that always cuts his grass on Sunday afternoons-he could cut it anytime, but chooses to do it while all of us are trying to have a quiet day off-please, we don't want to question your rights, but be considerate-thank you!
That homestead that you said is beautiful thats where i lived back years ago. My dad managed that farm for Mr Schoff it didn't look like that its been remodeled.
Wonderful hike Cliff!!! The dam and stone walls were amazing!!! Lots of hard work put into them!!! I love the creeks with the waterfalls even the tiny ones are awesome!!! Great work on the video, I enjoyed it!!! Stay safe on your adventures and God bless you!!!
Just lovely, what a gorgeous area. I loved that stonework they sure knew what they were doing back then. Those mushrooms were incredible, now when I watch nature documentaries I am busy looking for mushrooms, lol. Just loved that thanks.Cliff and thanks for taking me along. Please stay safe and take care
The shooting while hiking is annoying I admit that. But I like to think that Pennsylvania has a proud history of supporting and engaging in our second amendment rights. So I view it as part of our cultural heritage, in addition to our old farms, historic structures, and beautiful landscapes. Pennsylvania is a beautiful, historic, and special place.
Great park - not as far from our place as it is from yours. The gun noise really doesn't come through all that loud, btw. Probably louder for you than those of us watching. Not a big deal.
Beautiful ruins mushrooms and park!!! Were going away for 8 days to the UP...to see alot of waterfalls...lighthouses...rock hunting...hiking ...etc... Hope I can identify some of the mushrooms and plants. No I won't eat any!!!
Hi Cliff, what a beautiful area, the signage was really good and it was very well maintained too. Thank you for sharing this lovely location, much love. xx💖
Those ruins looked pretty cool and its great to see some greenery I'm not ready for fall. You might think that lantern fly is bad well I lost a lot of pine trees to a mite problem over here in western pa
Just beautiful walk!! I have never seen a Jack-o- lantern mushroom. Very pretty & so many. The stone houses at the end were very cool. I would really like to live in one as well. Painted windows, great idea looked good. Thanks Cliff really enjoyed you taking me along!! 🐿🥰
Nice hiking in this park. I just wonder about the history of the stone works and that Early American homes would definitely be a great fixer upper to live in. Keep Hiking ! Thanks
Your on the east branch and it is the dividing line for Lancaster and Chester County. Pronounce like rarea not roara. It flows south through Cecil Co. Md and empties into the Susquehanna just below Conowingo Dam .
Hey Buddy, I don't know if you read all the comments but I wanted to tell you of a Really Cool place here in Lycoming County. It's called Rider Park. I think you would really appreciate it. It has a couple of vistas overlooking the Loyalsock Valley. It's even got Ruins of an old homestead and barn. It really is a Beautiful place. And you could even make it a two in one because the Appalachian Trail has a trail head up the valley if you follow the Loyalsock Creek north for a few miles. Happy Trails my man.
So many interesting places and things in this one, the variety was surprising. Including open land and buildings in the latter part was a nice touch. When smooth field came in view I kept thinking what great place to play croquet or badminton. Always love the water parts, lots of mini "fairy" falls there.
There jack-o'-lantern....for sure thought you found se delicious chanterelles at first.....I find them in pa forests all the time...but yes those were jack-o'-lantern...only thing that kinda can be confused as chanterelles
Just found your channel and really enjoying it. I was wondering if you ever heard of the Academia girl school in Academia. The school has some ghost stories and the remains were still there years ago when I was there last. Maybe a place you would be interested in. Keep up the great work.
Here's a little bit of info about the ruins: "Field stone walls are testament to the labors of many early farmers who cleared land of stones in order to grow crops, orchards, and hay. In the manure economy of the early German settlements, cow and horse manure was a valuable commodity and bedding from stables and barns would have built up many farm gardens. The remains of a farm garden wall surround the foundation of a German-built stone farm house, with a hand-dug stone-lined well out back. The wall surrounds the homestead completely in a U-shape starting and ending at the creek, while the remains of a bank barn foundation are just a short way up the old road outside the wall." source: naturalmidatlantic.blogspot.com/2017/12/pa-wolfs-hollow-county-park.html
I live in Chester County but never even heard of this park until now. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to visit sometime; it's beautiful. The history of the area and park are on the website for Chester County Parks & Preservation. Hope that lantern fly didn't make it; they are Everywhere this year where I'm at. My grape arbor ruined by them.
Cliff, the mushroom capital of the U.S. is not too far down Rt. 41 (Kennett) from where You filmed this, but I'm sure your probably already aware of that. 👍 Great vid.
THIS WAS BEAUTIFUL, ADORE THOSE MUSHROOMS AND SO MANY FROM A DISTANCE THEY LOOKED LIKE FLOWERS. THEY SURE ARE PURTY, LOVE THE BRICK HOUSE, GOOD IDEA FOR THE PAINTED WINDOWS, VERY SMART.
You remind me of people who buy a house next to a farm, and then complain about the smell. If you don't like the gun fire, don't hike near a gun range.
I grew up near the Octoraro Creek south of where the Park is , 3to 4 miles from Nottingham Park The area is called Pine Grove, there is a double span Covered bridge located there. . The Chester Water Autherity Water Plant is located there that supplies the City of Chester. My Dad worked for them for 14 years, There is a large resevoir on the Octoraro just north of the bridge that used to supply the plant , but water from the Susquehanna replace it years ago, . The lake is open to boating since then. The large pine trees around the lake were plantsd by my Dad and other workers @ 1952.
If ever in doubt about jack o lanterns vs chanterelles chanterelles never grow in clumps of more than 4 and jack o lanterns glow in the dark chanterelles do not
100 % sure they are Jack-o- lanterns, they glow a weak green when at night, the mycelium also glows if it is dug up, it's what the old-timers referred to as Foxfire.
My son and his girlfriend run cross county and i recommended a trail once to them but forget to tell them about the gun range near by. They got scared and never made it to the secret water fall.😥
Why did you not speak more on the destruction of the lantern fly? You should have killed it. Every state that has them begs people to kill these invasive bugs. I enjoy your videos and the ones where you educate the audience about various plants; so why wouldn't you educate people on this destructive invasive species that should be killed and destroyed in PA?
Watching this again. I see so much more the second time through.
This is a very pleasant place to hike. The mushrooms were pretty amazing. Thank you for taking us along.
a beautiful day to take a hike, thanks for sharing. you are always so full of historical facts , it a good thing !
Beautiful old houses
Love the mushrooms. A very cool walk with all the rock walls!
Ruins! Oh, a lake existed there, how cool! I think they're Jacks too (mushrooms). I haven't seen them quite that big though.
Beautiful hike, awesome stone houses...thumbs up!
Lovely place! WOW!! Amazing mushrooms🍄🍄🍄🎃
I went fishing in that lake alot when my dad managed one of the farms for Mr Schoff.
The ruins remind me of an English homestead writh all the fencing around the house and those mushrooms very cool to see

Beautiful hike-thank you! We have a retired neighbor, that always cuts his grass on Sunday afternoons-he could cut it anytime, but chooses to do it while all of us are trying to have a quiet day off-please, we don't want to question your rights, but be considerate-thank you!

Once again thanks for sharing your hiking adventure with all of us!
That homestead that you said is beautiful thats where i lived back years ago. My dad managed that farm for Mr Schoff it didn't look like that its been remodeled.
The house / mansion at the end of your video was owned by the company owner of steak em. He donated the building and the land to Chester county.
Gene Gagliardi was his name
knew the son used to ride dirtbikes on the property
Wonderful hike Cliff!!! The dam and stone walls were amazing!!! Lots of hard work put into them!!! I love the creeks with the waterfalls even the tiny ones are awesome!!! Great work on the video, I enjoyed it!!! Stay safe on your adventures and God bless you!!!

The herons name there is Phil. Ive hiked wolfs hollow 26 times. There are 15 herons along the creek. Plus their all white mates during June-July
Golly, what it took to build that dam. Our ancestors were hard working people. Great video
Gorgeous mushrooms.
What a beautiful place. I wonder how old those ruins were? Love the sound of freedom although it does get irritating once in a while. Stay safe.
Nice hiking in this park. I just wonder about the history of the stone works and that Early American homes would definitely be a great fixer upper to live in. Keep Hiking ! Thanks
Haha that was me that said we’ll starve ourselves to find that perfect spot to eat 👊 so true!
I noticed the video quality immediately, looked great!
What a pretty place this is
I live about 20 mins from there and forage there as well. Good spot for lions mane mushrooms
That Orchard House was really cool.

The Appalachian Trail is nowhere near Lycoming County.
That wasn't a boat house that was the foundation of Mr and Mrs Schoff house.

@ 19:05 that looks like an old basement?
Beautiful area. Did you destroy the invasive lantern fly?
Have you ever been to ringing rocks? There is a reason it is named that. 😊
Just found your channel and really enjoying it. I was wondering if you ever heard of the Academia girl school in Academia. The school has some ghost stories and the remains were still there years ago when I was there last. Maybe a place you would be interested in. Keep up the great work.
so glad you ate b4 you touched them. I Googled and they are poisonous...It's a shame those dormer windows on the stone house were broken.
Yay! You finally went to one of my go-to places!

@@janelledowney thanks that's great to know
Thanks janelle!! Love when people familiar with the area can give more knowledge about the video👍
Here's another really great source with tons of great photos. sepahiking.blogspot.com/2016/05/wolfs-hollow-county-park.html

did tou discover any history about the dam?
Cliff, the mushroom capital of the U.S. is not too far down Rt. 41 (Kennett) from where You filmed this, but I'm sure your probably already aware of that. 👍 Great vid.
what happened to the lake?
The lake got silted up and the dam was in imminent danger of collapse. When the land was transferred to the county for the park they breached the dam.
great place to bring your girlfriend!!!! hiking with a friend is cool nice place
THIS WAS BEAUTIFUL, ADORE THOSE MUSHROOMS AND SO MANY FROM A DISTANCE THEY LOOKED LIKE FLOWERS. THEY SURE ARE PURTY, LOVE THE BRICK HOUSE, GOOD IDEA FOR THE PAINTED WINDOWS, VERY SMART.
Gun range has been there a long, long time. Before the park, as far as I know.
You remind me of people who buy a house next to a farm, and then complain about the smell. If you don't like the gun fire, don't hike near a gun range.
Beautiful hike. Did you kill the lantern fly? I know you hate the idea of that but they are a really bad bug.

This past month was my first time seeing the spotted lantern fly. Truckers gotta check for them so they don't spread. Kill on sight.
My son and his girlfriend run cross county and i recommended a trail once to them but forget to tell them about the gun range near by. They got scared and never made it to the secret water fall.😥
