  • Finally in my 30s and i think it's time for me to start investing in real pieces. One brand that has highly caught my eye is none other than Our Legacy. From the uprise of their Camion Boot to their collaboration with Stussy, i decided to dive into the history of Our Legacy and why are they so popular?

    Been following and owning OL for years now! It’s pretty cool to see more people becoming aware of the brand. You absolutely hit the nail on the head for the target audience for OL!!

      Definitely will be doing more but I wish Our Legacy had more videos of them lol. Wanted to use that instead of photos.
      Any particular brand you’re interested in?

    Nice video and summary! I agree, while some pieces have hit some trend popularity, I think Our Legacy will continue to have staying power as many of their mainline items (not collabs) stay minimalistic and will be in style for years to come.

      Appreciate the support! It's the affordabley priced high-end essentials it's what i like to describe it lol! Do you feel like there are any other brands similar to that concept?

      @@MarkReyesCayabyab I think on the more affordable end, ARKET and COS deliver on more minimalistic designs while keeping a decent quality, although I would consider them fast fashion but not the worst offenders.

    Great video! I just bought the Fuse Jacket today. I love the look. Material seems a little cheap for the price (they even recommend you store it folded) - almost feels like a cross between a sweater and jacket.
    Impulse purchase - yes.
    Worth it - we’ll see.

    I can vouch that Our Legacy's quality is very solid. I have two of their mules and I know they'll both last a beating, and I have a silk shirt where the fit and material is really good at hiding my gut.
    I haven't had their pants, but you can trust Our Legacy to bring you the word quality in their products

      That is sooo dope and good to know!
      I really wanted to get their mules so I might get that after I get their other stuff! Is the sizing “short men” friendly?!

      @@MarkReyesCayabyab For their clothing, I believe they follow the relaxed to standard sizing so that'll vary. It's likely gonna need some touch-ups at the tailor depending on your mood

    Cool vid man, was just in Stockholm and got some boots and a jacket from them. I am sort of in this period of wanting to “smarten” my look and move away from more “pure” street wear. I’ve been thinking of it as elevated street wear. All that to say that I think your understanding of the target audience rings true for me.
    I went by acne while I was here too and it definitely struck me as more avant garde, wasn’t quite what I was looking for although I’m sure they have some of that too.

      I’d be curious to know who else you’ve got your eye on from other parts of the world that do this sort of look?

      Thank you so much for chiming in!
      I'm currently in the same boat where i kind of just want to simplify my life and go for more simple pieces that look smart while incorporating some sneakers whenever i want! Kind of like a preppy-street look! It's so interesting that these brands really know their target audience and they really lean in. That's so awesome that you went to Stockholm, it's definitely on my list of places to go, especially with the overall Scandi design that they incorporate.
      In terms of other parts of the world, are you referring to overall minimal designers? Mid-tier designers? I really love this idea and would love to make a video out of it!

    • @MistaaSilky
      @MistaaSilky 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MarkReyesCayabyab i would say designers that exist in this minimalist sort of space. my assumption is that they always have to be "at least" mid-tier (in terms of cost) for what they do but perhaps that isn't true? could be something to cover in your video as well.

    I would like to know why you label OL as bridge brand. Apart from the price point, is there any other?

    • @MarkReyesCayabyab
      @MarkReyesCayabyab  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To me OL bridges the typical streetwear consumer to the more higher end design clothing and to me that’s a mixture of minimal casual styled clothing, kind of like a preppy streetwear.
      Long comment to contextualize but I feel like what makes brands “gap bridgers”:
      Price(which you stated), the styling of the clothes in relation to the audience and the relative quality to price
      1 - I personally feel like it’s considered the midway point from your cheaper minimalistic designed brands which is usually smaller brands or brands that every consumer would wear (ie doc martens) and your “high-end” designer brands.
      Here’s a real life example:
      When I was looking for brown boots I had three options in mind in which I’m highly wanting the OL boots:
      1 - something at the price point of doc martens ($180-$200)
      2 - our legacy ($500-$600)
      3 - acne studios (~$1000)
      2 - Another example is the brands that the typical audience gravitates towards when transitioning from streetwear to a more older look, which consists of something closer to menswear (not all the time but we can agree that ppl tend to dress a little bit more “cleaner”) and to me that’s something close to our legacy and how the audience styles OL with streetwear. Another example would be Aime Leon Dore, more menswear mixed in with streetwear (although I heard quality has been diminishing but I can’t think of anything as I stroll around the grocery store lol)
      3- In regards to quality as well, I read that most people love the quality and that there were some instances when it didn’t match the price point of that. Sometimes high price = better quality and sometimes it’s the marketing/branding instead of the quality. A lot of people know this now and aren’t willing to pay designer prices for clothes that are “considered” high quality so our legacy I’d like to say is not necessarily affordable but prices right for what you get.
      I think fashion is all about self expression but to the general consumer, it’s about price vs branding at the end of the day and the brands that are in the middle hit both VERY well. Branding can be how it’s designed, what the brand represents, ethos of the brand, etc.
      This is a very thought provoking question so I appreciate you asking! If you’d like me to expand on anything, I’d love to and I’m also open to challenges that you feel are hypocritical or even your opinion. Thanks!
