As many times as I’ve seen it, it ALWAYS blows me away that concrete bridge could be carried away and deposited so far downstream! And it always breaks my heart seeing the lives of these people washed away, left to start over! I cannot imagine………..

Again thanks for giving us so much information. People should not forget the loss of these Americans. Please help as you can. The news media has forgotten the suffering these people are going through. WHY !!!!

It's hard to swallow for sure. This is the kind of news people usually go after.

There is still several train cars in the Catawba river, where the trestle crosses from Catawba County to Iredell County. They rolled off the tracks in the big flood and I am sure are well over 1000' down the river from the old railroad track. The railroad thought they were going to save the railroad tracks by parking boxcars on the track off both sides of the river. Iredell county side gave way with the train.

I''ve heard that Whitson's store was a distribution hub, but now I know what it looks like. The devastation is mind-blowing.

No matter how many videos I've seen, I'll never be able to understand the power of water. Moving such heavy and huge things like bridge pieces and buildings right off their foundations. It's horrifying. Very important for this to be out there for people to see. Soemtimes it feels personal but it's good you put it out. I wish I had taken many more videos up here in Avery County. There is a part of me that wants to forget it but it shouldn't be forgotten.

I couldn't relate to that any better. I was torn taking ANY video in the first couple months. It felt wrong in some way. But I knew deep down it was important. And now I wish I had documented everything.

I’m a county over and have worked a lot in this area. I haven’t been there since the storm. This has been the place I been wondering about. I knew it was bad but dang it. I’m going to drive over and look for myself.

I've transported CSX train crews to Green Mountain many times over the years, crews would switch out where the bridge washed out.

Horrible to see that beautiful house with the furniture ruined piled up outside. Then all the devastation down the river banks. Just heartbreaking. 💔🙏🏻😢

Those wall studs have never been treated, nor wet. I bet the walls are buckling.

Any vehicles in the water should have been checked and marked. It is amazing and appalling on how neglected this area is by our own people. The stance from some emergency officials is pretty ridiculous also. a

They should, but I would bet this truck eroded away from a strip of land nearby. 4 months from now that Chevelle may be in the river. River only knows; unless they move the Chevelle.
Even the underground springs in the mountains change and relocate earth the way nature wants it to go. Let's hope this year they don't get a really heavy blanket of snow across the entire Southeast.

The pastor of this church said services suspended until major restoration happens. The newly paved parking lot was totally washed away, so heartbreaking.

If you build on the water whether ocean, river or babbling brook you have to plan on getting damage or worse at some point. That said I’m truly sorr sorry for all the loss in this area. Not just property but more importantly lives and way of lives. Many of you have lost more than most can ever imagine. I am praying for you. We are donating thru Samaritans Purse. You are not forgotten. In a few days we will have a decent President in office again. Very belated help is on the way. If you are in a tent and have any other option please get your family to where it’s warm and dry.
