I was so inspired by your winter sowing videos that I started my whole flower farm using this method. It was a huge success!
I am so grateful for your videos to encourage me to give it a try since I don’t have greenhouse or grow room. My family and friends are astonished by the volume of flowers I was able to grow. We started a wedding venue and I wanted to be able to provide the flowers for several weddings. I also made bouquets to sell at our summer community theater. I have even hosted U pick events. Who knew how much can be grown in milk jugs and gallon ziplock bags!!

I'm so glad that I could provide inspiration and that you were so successful with all your winter sowing. That is an amazing amount of flowers you were able to grow. Happy gardening. 😊

Someone I knew made sun tea from mint. Then would serve it over ice. Not bad.

Absolutely love your gardening spots. Just beautiful and your plants of winter sowing beautiful. This is my first year trying to do so and I will keep adding weekly to the 17 jugs I have done the past two weeks. I am in Southeast Ga. Where are you located the zone? Mine is 9B

I’m in NJ zone 6b. I won’t be starting my WS until late February or early March. Happy gardening 🧑‍🌾

Thank you for this update video! I love following along with your winter sowing. Mine eventually had success and I mostly put them out in the garden in clumps. That seemed to do very well with things like lupine (which didn't like to be divided) but not as well for canterbury bells or larkspur.
I'm in 6A and just put my nasturtium seeds in the ground and hanging baskets on April 11th (a bit of a gamble). They're huge and they're just all starting their first flush of blooms. Did you soak your seeds? They're so easy to germinate after soaking overnight that I just popped them everywhere in my garden beds and along my driveway and they're everywhere now.

Glad you had a relatively successful winter sowing 😊. I didn’t soak the seeds so that’s probably why I didn’t get much germination. I’ll try that next time. Thanks 😊

You did so much better than I did this year. Because most of the last couple of years my starts were a month behind, I started them a month earlier. That failed terribly lol! What did germinate ended up being two months behind lol. Oh well. There is always next year. Your plants are looking great!. I always like watching your winter sowing. A huge thumbs up!!! Enjoyed, take care!

Thank you 😊. This was an odd weather year for winter sowing. I had to be more hands on with watering and opening the containers or protecting them. Happy gardening 🧑‍🌾

lol, I did a clump of poppies two years ago and they are now everywhere 😂. I welcome anything that is prolific.
It is a shame that it takes so long for snapdragons to really flourish and then frost not long from there. They are such fragile seedlings to start.
Had a tuff time with new cultivars of nasturtiums this year. They seem to be finicky of where they get planted.
I believe I have English Munstead lavender and it has returned every year so far, but French lavenders won’t survive Z5a. I’m trying to propagate them as they tend to get woody and want to renew the plantings and if it works it will be easier than seeds.
😂😂 you will be pulling lemon balm in the furure for sure-Everywhere!😂😂. I didn’t believe it when SIL says it’s invasive-it showed up in spots clear away from where they were planted. Oregano is another I need to watch.

Yeah, I do think I will have lemon balm everywhere!!! 😂 My neighbor had wanted some. I warned her but she still took like 6 starts! I need to propogate lavender it is very difficult to grow from seed. I found that the nastursium didn't like the hot afternoon sun and did much better getting shade in the afternoon. Will be sure to plant them in a different area this year. I can't seem to get poppies to grow. I have scattered seeds in winter and have tried winter sowing. Never get any! I am going to try again this year. 🙃

@@MonicaKatie I winter sowed the cheap red poppies and they did Very well. Then I looked at the big clump and thought how the heck do I separate that😅 so they got planted in clumps and did Terrific. They are full sun and I heavily wood chipped the outer areas of this flower garden and left open soil to plant. Very few weeds compete. They flowered and I let reseed and the wood chips were breaking down and there was seedlings popping up everywhere by fall. They stayed green throughout winter. I just let them do their thing and had an explosion of blooms the next year. One thing I noticed is to not have things like Bee Balm too close as they like their own room to stretch out-so I have some weeding of poppies to do this spring 🙄.
Right now I’m looking over last year’s monthly planner by month checking when I started seeds and checking what the weather was like and adding notes how things did. 🎉🎉I FOUND IT! Why some of the winter sow did not do well 🎉🎉 we had rain and 40s last January and very late cold and snow unlike this winter where it was hot all December and rain on Christmas And this January is Finally Winter with 3 snow storms this week and tonight we start below zero for about 5 days🥶.
Well last year I WS on February 15th & 21st the temps were fluctuating widely between 40s and 20s on March 6th noted signs of seeds swelling and March 21st the statice, yarrow and sea lavender (Holly) were up 🙄 THEN there it was, March 23rd we had 3” of snow!!!😭. The temps were still erratic 40s day to teens at night. I only ended up with a couple of yarrow.
This year things are at least holding steady cold temps and may have more success. The weather in my area and microclimate has my gardening skills on overload for covering and timing. Z5a, WI.
Yes, about nasturtiums, yet the old variety seemed fine in clay soil area. I don’t know, they are just finicky.😝
