The 0-4-0+0-4-0 diesels built to run goods on the West Clare were all sold off for scrap in 1968, having been stored at Inchicore since the West Clares closure in 1961. As for the railcars, I believe most to all of them were scrapped as well. However, one former driving trailer was salvaged and converted to a trailing coach. It was used by Bord na Mona for a while as a sightseeing train on one of their industrial sites. I am unsure if said former driving trailer is still in existence today.
Does anyone know what happened to the still virtually new diesel locomotives of the West Clare Railway when it closed?
