Very interesting picks George. I’m Canadian and have never heard anyone mention that Muffins album, or seen it in the bins for that matter. I can assure you that Andy Pratt didn’t have any sort of career in the US. Never seen it in the bins either. Thanks for featuring these gems. Cheers.
Hi George. Thanks again for a really interesting video. I am always impressed by your enthusiasm for stuff unfamiliar to me and this inspires me to investigate further. Will check out the Muffins, Soundtrack of Our Lives and New Musik albums - last one sounds my style. I have the Andy Pratt album on CD and also the DBM+T album but will need to give these another listen. Agree entirely with you that the latter looks like it might have been originally scheduled for Vertigo (similarly the 1970 Phillips/Fontana releases Czar and Red Dirt). GTO was primarily a disco-oriented label started in the mid70s and included Heatwave and Donna Summer on its roster. This week my vinyl listening has included Canadian prog band Saga, Steve Kilby (of The Church), Scottish 70s band Blue and Climax Blues Band. Wishing you all the best and continued great listening. David.
Thanks David for your kind words and recommendations, always much appreciated. I've actually been enjoying Climax Chicago myself recently, as picked up Tightly Knit from 1971. A good listen.
I'm always glad to get some new tips of records to look out for. Well you are absolutely correct about that first album. Until you said it I'd never heard of Martha And The Muffins. Soundtrack... did you know I used to live in Sweden? Outside the US and the UK, Sweden produces the most music per per capita in the world. They have a very healthy domestic music scene that very often doesn't leave Scandinavia because it's sung in Swedish. I moved to Sweden in 1993 and completely missed the whole Brit Pop movement when it happened. It's not that Sweden weren't interested, they just had their own music to fill the air waves. While Soundtrack of Our Lives isn't my cup of tea, I will say that Sweden has some AMAZING prog bands that nearly never get shown or talked about here on the VC. Andy Pratt sounds pretty good. I'm listening now. D,B,M+T are a must. I'm really enjoying them and like you say, the Moog sounds great when it's used. Definitely one for me to look out for. What I'm missing here George is how on earth you became familiar with these obscure records. Like you say, they never get mentioned on the VC. How did you find out about them? Cheers. Brilliant video by the way!
Hi John, thank you for you reply and this information. All interesting stuff, here. Oddly, I cannot remember a lot of the time how I found out about these artists, I really can't. Any Pratt I do remember - the featured a track off his first album on an episode of Old Grey Whistle Test in 1971 which randomly got repeated probably on BBC4 a few years back. Heard it and had to seek him out.
Thanks George, lots of passion there. I’ve got first two Martha’s, Metro and Trance, but never seen Ice Age. I enjoy first two so will try and get that one. Especially based on your review. The others you mentioned I know virtually nothing about, so need to do some homework. Great idea for video. Mike
@@georgeprior-vinylshowtell4934 I will definitely look out for Ice Age. Different subject……did you notice Maple Vinyl in Cosham has closed?! Any idea why? Very sudden? Mike
@@georgeprior-vinylshowtell4934 to be honest, it was still early days. Shop was tiny and stock was building up gradually, but chap who ran it was a good guy with some decent knowledge. Each time I went there I always found something of interest. I was shocked when it closed all of a sudden because last time I went in, there was still enthusiasm and talk of greater and better stock. It feels as if maybe something personal may have stopped them in their tracks and forced closure. Shame, as always hate to see businesses close, especially record shops!! Mike
Not come across those albums, George - on your recommendations I will keep an eye out for them. You mentioned the GTO label. Shout out to Fox - you have to think Kate Bush took some note of Noosha (as no doubt did many teenage boys in the mid '70's!).
the only one i know is the M + M. i will be checking the others out. i saw martha on the DANSEPARC tour. one of the best shows i have seen, and i have seen a lot. it was like seeing talking heads, king crimson and roxy music all at once! amazing. cheers!
I was about to watch your video and have enjoyed your videos as you make great content but abit disappointed with your comment about u2 and not holding it against daniel lanois working with them and yes lots of u2 haters out there but he produced some of his finest work with U2 weather you like them or not . Just disappointed. Was looking forward to watching this video. Take care joe
Sorry Joe, did not wish to cause offence, genuinely not. I will be sticking to positive only in the future. I hope this won't put you off future views.

Great video George. Interesting recommendations. Will stream and may pick a couple up.
Thanks David, you won't regret these!
Interesting George and they definitely don't get talked about. A few there that I will seek out for a listen. Cheers Dale
Cheers Dale, you will definitely not regret getting any of that lovely lot!
