Hi friends! In this video I tour the Nick's Handmade Boots factory in Spokane, WA. There I attempt the seemingly impossible challenge of designing and making a boot in 12 hours. To say that I underestimated how much went into the process is an understatement. 😅

I watch a lot of YouYtube boot videos and this is absolutely the best! I have never seen all of these on the same video 1. Custom designed boots 2. How they are made 3. A non employee doing the build. Just amazing! Excellent job Anne and Nick's.

I was a custom bootmaker many years ago and this really brought back some memories. Pro tip: when stitching the soles - approach the curved needle stitcher like you're mad at it, not like you're scared of it. 😂

Annie, I’ve admired your work for many years. It absolutely warms my iced over heart to see you exploring and showcasing another trade skill. I’m an auto tech, so, same vein, but I’ve been a crafter and maker all my life. You do good works ma’am. Anyone says otherwise is a damned fool. Thank you, thank you so much. I watched a pair of Harley Davidson boots sit in a HD shop for 3 years... and finally they dropped the price thanks to the manager... and I walked out with that pair of HD boots. I have had them resoled once. The joys of not only being a shortie (4ft 12inches tall) but also having a size 2(NZ) size foot, and the boot was slightly wider to fit my wide foot.*

Nice to see companies that make decent boots. In my last job we were required to order our work boots from one of 3 Brands as an economy measure. No points for guessing that all the manufacturers took short cuts which resulted in an inferior product. We worked in an environment which was very hostile to even the toughest of work boots but the ones we regularly bought lasted up to 2 years. The new "economy" brands started falling apart after a few months. Pretty soon rebellion ensued and we went back to our favorite brand until they moved their manufacturing to China and the quality nose-dived. It pays to invest in good work boots.

I wish I would have known you were in Spokane. I live in the valley. I work on the North slope of Alaska. I also wear Nick boots. I liked it when they moved out to the valley. They are also awesome about rebuilding boots. I also would have loved for you come check out my shop. I just don't do social media but I love wood working. I grew up homesteading

Id buy these boots
Im from the West Coast. When I think boots , I think XtraTuffs or Mukluks. I already got XtraTuffs but I want some custom mukluks for fancy occasions like Rondy. They would have to have rubber soles or be soft bottoms because I’m a Kassaq. I know that to make hard bottom Mukluks you gotta crimp the soles and they usually make the soles out of Ugruk.
I think my wife would buy those.
I hope that they are comfortable.
