The world famous calling card of the Clifton High School Mustang Marching Band Sript CHS, was performed at the state championship game at Giants Stadium on December 2nd 2006. Thank you Mr. Dennis Dutkevitch for Filming this Video.
The Mustang Marching Band is unique among high school marching bands. Modeled after the high-stepping, fast-paced style of the "Big 10" college bands such as Ohio State and the University of Iowa, the Band has never in its 70 plus years fail to bring the crowd to its feet in applause.
One of the Band's most memorable numbers has been seen throughout the world, and is its international calling card - Script CHS. In this number, the Band unravels from a tight block and writes out the school's initials on the field.
Another way in that the Mustang Band is unique is its unswerving support of the football team, Clifton High School, and the town of Clifton. Whether home or away, the football team can always count on the enthusiastic support of the Band. With the spread of "corps" bands and their constant competitions, how many other high school bands can say the same? The Band gives one demonstration of its support at each home pre-game show, celebrating the Mustangs by marching downfield in the "Floating M".
I have very pleasant memories of attending Clifton's varsity football home games... Night games played under stadium lights, in the crisp cool air of those magical autumn evenings. The Clifton Mustang Marching Band, "The Showband of the Northeast," provided the soundtrack to those occasions, and they never once failed to bring the spectators to their feet in standing ovation. Of the countless songs they covered, Paul Simon's "You Can Call Me Al" was definitely one of my personal favorites.
Wow! That was outstanding! And it's nice to know that their are still majorette corps around that actually look like majorettes!
I love it. It's great to finally have a Morgan-eye view of what he saw every saturday morning. That C got a little pointed. Oh well. ( ; Thanks for posting.
this is phenomenal!
My band does high step too!!! it's good to see other band sticking the classics, there are few real marching bands left in the US, and we do Script Tide for our show, it's epic, just look up Pottsville Area High School Band and there should be a video of us in the State Championship for Football
Memories from 1952 - 1954 abound.
I like it!
ahh i was there!
i remember the state championships too

Dennis did this video? I am surprised he did not call me to tell me all about it! lol He also did one in Giant's stadium. BT
Does anyone have access to any videos that were shot of the opus we (class of '97) played featuring that Beatles medley??
(Mr. Morgan's shining hour)
-Bob Simmons
(I'd love to re-live those moments)
((Mr. Morgan's conduction of the concert band was phenomenal that night))
holy crap, i forgot we did it this ridicuosly fast.
OK, I'll agree with your comment about tradition. But how many halftime shows does the modern Mustang band do in a season? A new one for every home game, as we did, or one for the whole season as the bands here in northern Virginia do?
The one think I would like to see is entry...anyone have that on video?
the year is dec. 2 '06 when clifton high school beat eastside 26-0
kinda of mest up calling the band trash although im not a band person
so basically its just osu
oops. THERE are not 'their' - mea culpa.
Thier no corp bands in DC so you seen bands from out site DC/MD/VA
That's funny cuz if its 06 im in this vid lol.
My husband & I agree with you ( tuba & clarinet-- allstate band & orch) We played under Saul in the '50s. That's when CHS did an entirely new show every week- marching routines, not follow the leader!
i want to this game. yeah go clifton!!!!!!!! wooo hoooo east side sucks :P clifton are the champs
john u spelt script wrong haha
follow the leader.....
Verona Marching band might be better idk i used to go to clifton too but i moved to verona and they have a kick ass marching band too. We're playing Prokoviev and its amszingly beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it fuckin owns!!!!!!!!!!!!! V-town OUT!!!
wow..heard Saul Kaye passed away recently, there went the bands best chance to be really good again. All well, hopefully the current director will retire soon, and the band can once again be the "Show Band of the North East" under a new director who has new, and better ideas. After living off of Kaye's reputation for so many years, "Uncle Bob" should finally hang it up, and get new blood in there.
The only thing thats "show" about this band is the High steping.... they woould get rocked if they came to DC further south. where the real showbands are located
Shame that the band has gotten so small. Guess when you live off of reputation that is at least 30 yrs old, and dont give the kids a reason to want to join show they are the best, you loose people. Did Saul Kaye have any kids?
