@CosbyTheCaterpillar Clever lever, herringbone, trip hammer, string-a-ling, and all the minor stuff like the Muybridgeoscope and Pegophone are solely my own invention. Stick bombs have been around for generations, but I invented the multi-celled stick bomb back in the early 80s. Some dude from Hungary supposedly came up with an 'infinite stick bomb' in the 70s but I never heard of him until a year or two ago. Domino tumbling, of course, was invented by others. (continued)
@123makx A simple way is to have a stick leaning on a domino, but not so much that the domino falls over. Have a weight on the herringbone fall on the stick to topple the first one. It's not the best method, but it's the easiest...
Going from stick bombs to herringbones is easy, just have the exploding sticks knock over the herringbone sticks. Going from a herringbone to a stick bomb is much trickier and something I can't really explain in under 500 characters...
Thanks, dimitri! I might make a tutorial some day on the 3-D stick bombs, but I'm still working things out. They're a lot harder to make than 2-D bombs and I've had to come up with new ways of constructing them...
If you do a tour in Indonesia, at my home town(Surabaya), my life would be complete. Your experiments that uses sticks, dominoes, and other stuffs are amazing, keep up the good work! And whoo, hoo!
@megahotshot97 You should upload a video of that. BTW, I experimented with a herringbone chain that has the rails collapse afterward. I might do more with the design in the future...
Very nice!:) Although i knew them all :P What are the meaning of the fast spooky images at the end of the last 2 videos?:P Some kind of contest to recorgnize them??
@ow1998en Their technical name is 'plastic tubes' :) Seriously, they're a special order from a plastics company (somebody else paid). You can easily substitute plastic cups or sheets of paper rolled up into a cylinder for them...
Rolled up paper might work for supports, but pencils will never work very well due to their round shape. Actually, cardboard cut into strips works better than pencils..
@lunatim (continued) I realize that none of my techniques are complex enough to get patented, but it would be nice to at least get credit for my inventions. My videos only date back to 1999, but family and friends will vouch for me that I've been playing around with some of the basic concepts as far back as the 70s. One of the first things I came up with, domino string relays, does go back to the 70s, and what's surprising is that I haven't seen anybody else use them yet...
@GreatEighthSin That pretty much describes most of my art. I'm mystified that nobody came up with the herringbone idea before. I've scoured the Internet for anything remotely related to "falling stick chains", but found absolutely nothing. They're just as versatile as dominoes and I can incorporate a lot of other stunts like the Muybridgeoscope into a herringbone design. BTW, I used to use nylon monofilament, but it's a real pain to work with, so now I use twine...
No need to wear safety glasses with herringbones XD Why are they called herringbone chains? I've been wondering. :O The video just answered my question. Really great tutorial!
@xGimpyx I'd love to communicate with a software company about a kinetic-based game, but I have no clue whatsoever how to convince them to take me seriously...

This is a worthwhile hobby here
They're very easy to make and the amount of stunts you can add to herringbone chains is a lot. It's one of my favorite techniques...

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've been really wanting a Herringbone Tutorial and this one is great. WOO HOO!
I LOVE this beautiful video! thanks, lunatim!!!
Really nice tutorial Tim!

This is cool, Thanks for demonstrating! We are building some RB machines today!
Thanks for the compliments, folks!
you are my hero! + when are you gowing to make a new vid
@megahotshot97 I really don't know why the video isn't working--just upload a hi-def version if you have one...

@kevinmeehan71 Funny you should mention it as I'm experimenting with herringbone variations right now and should have the videos up soon...
@NixXRemade Thanks, Nix! I did that maze about 20 years ago...
@vinesthemonkey That's a good reason to make your own herringbone chains and enjoy them in real life :)
@mysticvapor Behold the power of kinetic art!
Thank you for the tutorial, it sure helped alot!
@lunatim ah allright;) Was a bit curious :P plz Keep going with your inventions:):):):)

I'd love to visit Indonesia, Dhani, and thanks for your support--whoo, hoo!
Thanks for the reply Kinetic King, Whoo Hoo!
Saya juga orang indonesia
I'd love to travel to Indonesia and do my kinetic art there!
@megahotshot97 You should upload a video of that. BTW, I experimented with a herringbone chain that has the rails collapse afterward. I might do more with the design in the future...
@quinte98 I've been to Puerto Rico about 10 years ago, and would love to visit again :)
works very well with toothpicks!
wow. these can actually be fun!!!!!! :-D
Thanks, dodo!
Very nice!:) Although i knew them all :P What are the meaning of the fast spooky images at the end of the last 2 videos?:P Some kind of contest to recorgnize them??
you are so COOL YOU AWESOME DOOD!!!!
I like your videos so much!!! I do sort of the same chain reaction thing except in dominos:)
@capabilitygray You're welcome, cg!
You're welcome, GrandmaBear!

That's the main way I transition from herringbones to stick bombs...

@spongeycookies325 You're welcome, sc!
@abcdawgnet I do have some time-lapse videos out there--my 3200 stick world-record stick bomb has a nice time-lapse sequence...
@frankenstein1887 You're welcome, frank!
Thanks, dodo! I'll probably have a video out in a few months...
herring is also nice with onion. question: 1980's?! how long are you doing this? did you invent this kind of art?
5:00 november in Minnesota and no socks on. isn't that cold?
If one tried it with rolled up paper, using unsharpened pencils, do you think it would work?
@kevinmeehan71 the domi-lever, perhaps?
@lunatim so you invented the clever lever?
Thanks, dominotrampoline!
wait a minute this video was filmed after he detonate the stick on america got talent
Woo hoo I found the outhouse !
Not bad, who knew a bunch of tounge depressors could be interesting? Stick bombs are truely amazing.
@megahotshot97 Paper tubes, plastic cups...
"cast off the shackles of conformity..." What an odd way of wording it. Also, way cooler than being normal.
is it possible to make a reverse method of this without rubber band ?
how can you conect a stick bomb with a herringbone
@lunatim Your whoo hoo is so funny, thats what I hear in my mind when I see those dominos, sticks etc.
...woo hoo!
@CosbyTheCaterpillar I have good heat in my building ;)
You are amazing
Thanks, Bastian!
@@lunatimR.I.P The Kinetic King, without you, we wouldn’t have been able to make stick bombs, you were an inspiration to everyone!
@theCollinster96 Whoo, hoo!
@xGimpyx I'd love to communicate with a software company about a kinetic-based game, but I have no clue whatsoever how to convince them to take me seriously...
cool!
what size do you have?+I bought 4200 sticks for £60 do you think that is cheep but it is English money
The Final Puzzel is SOLVED !!! i Found the Road to house
WHERE DO YOU BY THE choobs?
@ow1998en As the Fonz would say, "Correctamundo!"
@Buahnah Umm, er, whoo, hoo?
Tubes? Those were a special order from a plastics company...
Nice maze;)
haha, nice maze at 7:20
King Tut might have come back from the dead if he had anything to do with the pyramid construction.
I have to watch this for school lol -_-
At 1:41, what is that thing you were holding, and where can I get them?
+GeeDeeDubya paint-stirrer sticks Menard's
***** No, I meant the clear cylinder thingy with the white bases at the upright support section.
+GeeDeeDubya those were a special order from a plastics company
Cool, so if you have a bunch of Popsicle sticks lying around they're not completely pointless after all?
They're usually not pointless--they have rounded ends ;)
*****
"Da Dum Tsssss" LOL I get it.
Kinetic King surely it should be They are pointless because the ends are rounded
cool
Woohoo ! :D
I subscribed you it helped me to make stick bomb
@wdomino The subliminals are sort of an inside joke...
@joedude967 Um, whoo, hoo?
whoo ooh
i am taking over from dodoanimations because it got mest up and what size of tubes do you have
@barendbos I basically invented everything in my videos except for domino tumbling...
Woo,hoo!
Woo Hoo!
On a scale of Blanche to Rose, just how Norwegian are you?
did anyone else try the maze at the end of the video?
woo hoo!
WOO HOO
Wooohoo
i love you
@StickBomb101 They're special order from a plastics company...
im allergic to fish so i cant eat pickled herring...
I didn't hear a "Woo hoo" after 5:39 :(
fourfties
@lunatim It's more impressive in real life, on the computer it just seems fake -_-
Firsties!
